Kelpie Cottage Furkids REGISTERED BREEDER OF AUSTRALIAN PUREBRED KELPIE FUR BABIES, AS PETS ONLY!! This is a blog page for the daily life at Kelpie Cottage. Eden will retire in 2025.

It includes some education and advice with information for all kelpie owners. I am also a registered kelpie breeder, as a hobby, registered member with the WKC and am a approved breeder with Pet Animal Welfare of Victoria and also have a State Planning Animal Husbandry Permit. There are plenty of pictures for your kelpie fix..:)

l have a strict criteria to be met to own one of my kelpies. l can

have a 12-month waiting list as this is my hobby, to give other families the chance to own one of these amazing dogs! and l only breed 1 litter per year. Usually, ALL my pups are sold prior to breeding. l am now breeding my 5th generation of kelpies as pets. MY BREEDING PAIR ARE AS FOLLOWS:

MYRINDAH MARCUS: stud dog, being the son of Myrindah Dyson & Beckie, Grandson of Myrindah T-Bone and Jindi and Great grandson of Banjo and Lily-Mae (both passed away), all others retired now. Registered with the WKC

EDEN, is a very small stocky built solid dark red girl, 15kgs, Registered with the WKC and has proven to be a fabulous mother in 2020 after joining our crew in 2018. SADIE, is our new breeding girl, who had her first litter in 2024. She is a fabulous mother and will take the position of breeding girl at KC in 2025. I recommend puppy schools and obedience training with all our pups. We train our own dogs in agility and tracking, basic training and good manners from day one. All training of our dogs is done without force but firmly, with heaps of praise rather than treats so as not to lead to any weight problems. We correct our pups/dogs with a firm ‘growl’ or ‘ahh’.. Wew encourage you to teach puppy to develop good habits from day one. My special hobby is to breed ‘family pet Kelpies/Companions & Pet Therapy’ to give other families the chance to own one of the most versatile and best dog breeds in the world, my dogs are bred to be ‘city slicker kelpies’. All my Kelpies are very loyal, calm and relaxed, low energy companions, proven to be well suited as a pet for an active family though to retired people who are looking for their best mate, provided that they are totally part of their families lives. Kelpies do not require any more exercise than most other dog breeds. My Kelpies are known for being obedient, calm, quiet and content relaxed happy dogs, that will be as quiet as you want, or as active as you want them to be. The most important thing in owning a pet Kelpie is human contact and mental stimulation, which is easy with ball games, walks, car trips, and coming inside the family home, they love to just be with you, but are also happy enough to be in the backyard by themselves when needed. My Kelpies make fantastic pets, as they get nothing but the best start in life being handled from birth and totally nurtured and socialized with children, adults & older dogs before they leave here, and their fantastic owners continue this to have well-adjusted pet Kelpies for life. I only have 1 litter per year now as this is a hobby NOT a business nor a puppy farm, and a very strict criteria for owning one of my pups that you must meet to be approved. Most of our retired breeders still live with us which gives you three generations to view. I have references from owners Australia wide
Breeder numbers available on request. ALL breeding dogs are CA tested. If you are interested in a pup please email me at [email protected] or phone 0427 611 640.

* Below is the process to purchase a Kelpie Cottage pup. STEP 1
Contact via email at [email protected] and l will send you some information which includes my criteria, breeding program and a puppy application. When l receive your puppy application l will arrange a day to have your Meet/Greet day here, so you can meet ALL the Kelpies here, see how they are raised/live, natures, colors size etc. Also for me to confirm that you are the right person to own a Kelpie of mine, then you go onto my waiting list for a pup if you wish too. When the mother's pregnancy is confirmed, l will ask for a holding deposit to be paid to secure a pup. Deposits are NON refundable, unless l don't have a pup for you. Step 2. I am in touch regularly via FB or email during the mother's pregnancy and birth, information has already been sent to tell you how l choose a pup for you at birth. Then l arrange a Cuddle/Info & Educ day here when your pup is 4weeks old, to make the transition as easy as possible for both puppy and new owner. ALL owners are emailed extensive information on raising pup. On this day l will go through this information with you and diet, nail trimming, bathing, puppy pre school etc. ALL my pups are fully guaranteed for health under the Victorian Animal Welfare Code of Practice. I also offer 24/7 aftercare for the life of the pup, for advice and help, but not for boarding now as l have enough dogs to care for full time. "Kelpie Cottage Reviews" are on a separate fb page for you to read. thanking you for your time reading this information :)

🚨🚨**ALERT**🚨🚨

🍄 As we are once again entering 'mushroom season', the Animal Poisons Helpline is beginning to receive a significant increase in the number of calls about pets eating wild mushrooms. Due to their indiscriminate eating habits, dogs are most frequently involved in these cases. Whilst many wild mushroom species are minimally toxic, some have the potential to result in severe effects including but not limited to liver failure and death. Australia is home to a huge variety of wild mushrooms and accurate identification is notoriously difficult. Furthermore, a 2023 Australian study found that mushroom identification apps misidentified mushrooms more often than they identified them correctly. As a result, these apps should not be relied upon to determine edibility.

The fungi pictured here is Chlorophyllum molybdites more commonly known as the vomiter or green-spored parasol. After rainfall, these mushrooms are commonly found growing in lawns and garden beds often occurring in large groups. Chlorophyllum molybdites is well distributed across Australia and has been reported to grow in all states and territories other than Tasmania. To our knowledge, this mushroom is not found in New Zealand. Dogs that ingested this mushroom can develop severe gastroenteritis which can result in significant fluid and electrolyte loss.

Please be cautious when walking your pets during this time of the year, particularly in the days following heavy rains. Keeping dogs leashed during walks can be an effective measure to reduce wild mushroom ingestion. Where possible, remove any mushrooms from your own yard before pets have a chance to eat them. In the case of wild mushroom ingestion, please phone the Animal Poisons Helpline immediately for advice even if your pet appears well.

Lost my motivation today...done a load of washing but just cant get going, probably due to the stress of this week.
I'm looking at the ' urn' for the dogs ashes and thinking l need to tweak it a bit, cos l am a perfectionist, well, with most things, and l'm trying to work out how to get the ashes sprinkled around the ball without hiding it, remembering there will be 11 dogs ashes eventually in there, so obviously it will be a portion of their ashes not the whole lot. I've dried the ones l dug up as they were like cement from being in the ground and damp, so now they resemble ashes, not a rock.
Charlie has gone detecting today so it's just me and the crew who are all out the back lying around or wandering.
I cleaned Pippa's crate, mattress and collar and will put them out into the studio as a spare.
Going to put my headphones on as music will motivate me to do some very overrated housework...lol

We went over to our family cemetery plot in Maldon today and dug up Banjo, Penny and Lily's ashes, they were in boxes, I'd buried, as l decided to make a special urn for ALL this crews ashes to go in mixed together as they are one big family. So, I'll keep them on my fireplace mantel and add each dog as it passes in the future.
I made this large jar tonight and my daughter is making decals of all the dogs names to go on it as they pass.
Penny, Banjo, Lily-mae, and now Pippa will go there next week when Pippa comes back home.
❤️
Yep, that's a ball in there...❤️
A beautiful customer bought me the little ornaments that I've put on it...thanks Linda.

Our Kelpie Cottage Story

This is a blog page for the daily life at Kelpie Cottage, it includes some education/ advice & information for all kelpie owners. My hobby is to breed beautiful low energy pet/companion kelpies ONLY. I am registered with the WKC and have an approved registered Victorian Domestic Animal Business (DAB) so puppy owners have peace of mind when buying.

ALL of the kelpies on this page are either Kelpie Cottage owned, bred or rescued. I have 4 generations of Myrindah Kelpies living here in Kelpie heaven, some being retired, some current breeders and also future breeders adding to 11 beautiful pet kelpies of most of the colors the Australian Working Kelpie comes in.

There is plenty of pictures for your kelpie fix, BUT, if sharing.. all l ask is that you please credit Kelpie Cottage :)
