Huge shout out to the amazing team at Penrith Lakes Environmental Education Centre. This team got very agile today with a brown snake visitor and all in a day’s work. Fires and Floods too they’re so resilient. Their new Hungry Bin worm farm couldn’t be in better hands.

Wild wind this morning didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of these keen worm farmers.

The preschoolers were most delighted with the box of worms. Teaming with worms of all sizes even baby worm cocoons in mid winter.

Today Kris from Camden Worms visited our school to service the Worm Farm. Students thoroughly enjoyed Kris’s knowledge and expertise in this area. The students are looking forward to converting food waste into garden fertiliser to help grow their vegetable garden. Thank you Kris.

I move my Hungry Bins into full sun on the June long weekend.
I’ll move them back to full shade on the October long weekend.

Then straight into the worm farm
It’s working great and it’s quicker

Wet cardboard is excellent protection ahead of this weekend’s hot weather 🥵

Your worm farm will have more air and more bulk.

Remember worms don’t care about the air temperature it’s the soil temperature that gets them. So bulk is a good thing.

A handful in the corner is heaps.
Coffee ground is full of nitrogen and will be amazing for your garden 🪴
For gardeners it’s like plant based poo but smells loads better!

The massive Sydney storm last night would have sent millions of worms into their farm lids - they will wriggle back as the weather calms down.
