This is so true!!!!! 😂

**HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HOME & FAMILY FOR A SAINT BERNARD**

1) Lift an 80kg bag of wet sand up and down the stairs

2) Push an 80kg bag of wet sand into your car

3) Smear hair gel all over your walls and throw it on the ceiling and TV, while you're at it, smear the lower half of all windows, curtains and glass

4) Rub fur and gel into the roof of your vehicle

5) At least twice daily, drop that 80kg bag of wet sand on your bare foot

6) Shake balls of fur, mulch, and a bucket of dirt all over your house daily (add water for rainy days)

7) Practice repeating “SAINT BERNARD”, about 80kgs…8-10 cups a day…"no, I don’t have a saddle” over and over with a smile

😎 Volunteer at the zoo to help wash the large animals and clean up their p**p

9) Invite your friends over and have them all try to get in the bathroom while you are using it

10) Practice telling people that your husband does NOT beat you, that those bruises are from your dog!

11) Take a nice long piece of rubber hose and go around smacking all the coffee mugs off the end-tables and hit any close male where he doesn't like to be hit and smack your own legs a few times too

12) Have someone operate a chain saw at the foot of your bed all night...record this and play it every night close to your ear

I must also add, be prepared for the most amazing big love bundles, ever to walk the earth 🤗❤️🐾

A truckload of rubbish enters our oceans every minute.
Let’s do our part to stop this.

Last year alone, there was more than 60 million pet food products sold across Australia and New Zealand. Much of this packaging can find its way into landfill and our oceans.

We have partnered with TerraCycle Australia and TerraCycle New Zealand to ensure all of our products can be recycled in Australia and New Zealand.

Join us in making a greener world for pets!

HOW MUCH FOR A PUPPY ?

Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who writes an email to simply ask the price.
The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisedly states: “I can buy a cheaper puppy elsewhere”.
I also address you; the person who doesn’t care about papers because I want “just a pet”.

No puppy is “just a pet”.
Behind every pure bred Saint Bernard is a BREEDER.
I’m using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill.
A reputable breeder does not breed puppies without papers because that does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are records of lineage that document bloodline and allow one to research any possible health issues present in the lineage.
When you tell a Breeder you don’t care about papers what you’re really telling them is you couldn’t care less about the health of the puppy, you just want the cheapest thing you can find!
When you select to buy a puppy from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every puppy; both puppies they choose to keep themselves and every puppy they’ve sold for its lifetime.
This breeder, will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal house space has been turned into space for their Saints.
The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart and soul into it.
Not only in puppies that are sold, but also in each client who owns a piece of their heart and now is a member of their extended family.
This does not take into account any puppy/adult Saint who might get sick or need extra help to thrive.
Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and will take one back without question.
A breeder will get their hands dirty, often covered in everything accompanied with birthing, because that’s what life is about...
In the middle of birth and death is life.
It’s the wheel that keeps turning.
A breeder will do tests, echos, xrays, analysis, emergency c sections, vaccinations, register puppies and litters, research pedigrees, deworm, as well as microchip their puppies and get them evaluated by specialists.

Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read that right.
A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they are not making money off the sale. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a Breeder has made so they need to be confident its the right fit. Many times saying more no’s then yes...
A good Breeder will have different criteria for those wanting to carry on their bloodline, why?
Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it’s a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people willing to sacrifice.

Because a dog is never “just a pet” it’s the Breeder’s legacy, a little boy’s best friend, a little girls protector, an elderly persons therapy, a member of the family, someone’s whole world!!!

The Saint Bernard.
🐶 Breed to rescue travellers on the treacherous Great St Bernard pass between Switzerland 🇨🇭& Italy 🇮🇹.
🐶 The original Saint Bernards didn’t have casks of brandy hanging from their necks. This was a whimsical detail painted by an artist, Landseer, in the 1820’s - which caught the public fancy and has since become an enduring symbol of the Saint Bernard.
🐶 Famous for their roles in movies like ‘Beethoven’ and ‘Elf on the Shelf’ and therefore considered the Christmas Dog

Did you know that dogs are considered 'senior' when they reach 5-years-old (for large breeds) and 7-years-old (for small breeds)?
A change to a senior diet should be considered when they reach this age to ensure they are getting the right nutrition for their stage of life.
Speak with your vet to find the diet that is right for your dog's age and lifestage.

The St Bernard Club Queensland needs new members and committee members to continue to function.

Who can be a member? Anyone wishing to support the club and has an interest in the breed – be it looking to purchase a St Bernard, wanting to find out more and if the breed is for them; what they are really like or someone who is already owned by a St Bernard and is looking for play dates and face to face encounters with other breed fanciers. Basically this is what the club does. Of course the club still needs to run within Dogs QLD processes and procedures and abide by their rules as we are affiliated with them. We work hard to fundraise to cover operating costs and the unfortunate situation of assisting with any St Bernards needing to be rescued and rehomed; public events promoting St Bernards and a championship dog show. It tends to be a common misconception that a club is just for breeders. Yes definently breeders should be involved with the club in promoting and showcasing our breed but more importantly the everyday owner is needed so people know exactly what it is like to live with a St Bernard one on one and make the right choice.
