It was all happening on a single walk in a span of 3 mins and I was glad I was recording.
Panda had some really serious behaviour issues, dog reactivity ( extremely high in terms of intensity), bird chasing ( pretty severe) , she had dangerously ran across the main road chasing one, and some pretty intense pulling on the leash ( on just a normal flat collar and a leash ) ..
Before our Bootcamp this walk would have been highly stressful for Panda and inturn her humans , she would have launched at the dog across the street, would have picked a fight at the dog behind the windows both on the same side of the street and across, would have displayed pretty serious behaviours around birds (especially Magpies).
Like in all serious behaviour issues we started our program in home and by teaching Panda what it was like to have fun , a lot of play, a lot of bonding , a lot of chilling out as friends. Most of her dog related behaviours were out of insecurity and we dealt with that in an inside out way..
What we achieved in the Bootcamp was pretty remarkable and these sequence of videos that were taken were right at the end of our program.#dogbehaviour #dogreactivity #dogtraining #dogtrainingmelbourne
These two dogs couldn't be more different in personalities than each other even though they live under the same roof. And that's why when we have more than one dog living in the same home it's important to consider the whole picture and also train the dog in front of you..
Our friends and clients at @miloandmink.au sent us a new coffee wood chew to try out! Needless to say Jasper loved it !
Hit them up, give them a follow and show them some love!
We started working with Perry the Dalmatian when she was adopted recently by some absolutely amazing people. When we first saw Perry we saw a dog that had no idea how to deal with life. Afraid, fearful, terrified of literally everything, humans, dogs, even putting a collar and a leash on, you name it. Her default response use to be barking and lunging to make the scary thing go away... Her eyes yearning for some guidance in this world, her body language unsure... I suspect she had probably never seen anything other than a backyard until she was adopted.... Walking out on the street was a big big step...
We knew we had a big task in front of us. After weeks of work and some really heavy sessions (heavy on knowledge for the owners) Perry's owners sent me these videos last week... I couldn't be happier... Walking out on a leash confidently has been a big milestone for Perry.. if you look there are real-life distractions and loud noises, people around etc ..she takes everything in her stride...
I am lucky to work with some seriously dedicated people 🙏🏼
A quick pitstop in between consults ... Jasper got some off leash time 🏖️
When I remember to take some videos!
We worked on some environmental exposure, some confidence building skills, a lot of handling drills and ended with a pack walk.. all in a day's work to prepare these dogs for the real life that lies ahead of them...

All our puppy school sessions end with a real world exposure session where we step out and I break down what's going through your pup's mind...We prepare for that session from day one so everyone involved has already practised the handling bits...
We are presented with real world situations, dogs walking past, people wanting to interact, children playing, all of which is, 'the real world', our focus is to learn how to deal with this!
Here's Leo the Goldie exploring our local town centre, his first time here.. just look how confident he is!
Work doesn't seem like work when you love what you do. Dog owners got together at the apartment building my family stays at when they learnt I train dogs. We did an hour of troubleshooting some common behaviour problems. We talked about building a relationship, getting the dogs to work for you, some basic handling techniques and a lot more. It was such a different experience than what my usual sessions are like!
Diwali, the festival of lights signifies the triumph of good over evil, victory of light over darkness.
A very happy Diwali to those who are celebrating and we wish immense prosperity, happiness and good health to all.
School holidays means traveling with your doggo. Just helping his young man get ready for the summer where there will be lots of lunches at cafes, traveling and lots of fun with the humans.. #ibexhangouts
Socialisation isn't just about meeting dogs and people...
I feel privileged when people trust me with their puppies, it's a sensitive period in the dogs life.. every interaction can make or break the dog and it's a massive responsibility... the trick is to to think 10 steps ahead, roll through permutations combinations at speed and take decisions runtime when you have the pup on a leash, to set the puppy up to succeed for the rest of his life 🙏🏼
Yeah, it's a big deal!
Obie was a bit more cautious than I would like a puppy of his age to be, fearful of a lot of things, we decided hangouts were the best option to get through some of the baggage and boy he's come up the curve .. I am happy with how he's progressed💪🏻
One of the many ways we create behaviours in dogs, wanted or unwanted, knowingly or unknowingly..
Have you experienced what I describe in the video? Especially with unwanted behaviours?

Give me one good reason why you should rush through the puppy phase and skip steps ?
Take time teaching the dog what you want and it pays off in the long run..
We were teaching Luna the Samoyed how to walk nicely on a loose leash..
Murphy's bootcamp came to an end a couple of weeks ago. This is a snippet from our training with him.
Loki's training program came to an end. We worked on a few things including house manners, an approximate response to the doorbell, meeting people with confidence and calmness and reactivity to dogs! I am glad I was able to help this little dude!
So, I woke up feeling like sh*t. Throat feels like I ate a cactus, and my voice sounds like a frog that has way too many emotions.
I was absolutely fine when I went to bed, but kept feeling worse through the night. I still have to take a Covid test, but I had to change people's plans and that sucks! I know some of you have been waiting for a few weeks for the sessions and I apologise. I will be back up and running in no time 🤞🏼. It's strange how the dogs just get it that you are unwell, Elsa licked my face for a few minutes right after I woke up, she knows and Jasper is being a good boy he knows too🐾
Burning off some steam in between sessions the other day..
Testing Jasper's call off, these aren't really training sessions it's just an outlet for him to have fun being a dog with 1% obedience layered into it... These in my opinion are building blocks of trust and a great working relationship 🙂
