It has been a quiet year for our stud. We are preparing for some very exciting foals in Spring. This has given me some time for serious reflection and to work out what it is I really want to do. We have incredible horses here at our stud, but I am time poor and have decided I need to part with some horses so that I can focus more on the ones who remain. 💕
We have decided long term, to move towards more purebreds and only breed a very small number of Warlanders with our amazing stallion Monteiro.
Going forward, we want to focus mainly on the PRE, and moving out of the Andalusians. We feel it is so important to preserve the PRE and we want to focus on slowly building up our PRE numbers. Our two imported PRE can be graded early next year, along with another mare of ours, which is really exciting! Our Pearl PRE program with our partner Christine Kershaw is a long term goal for us. 🙏
We will also be retaining our Iberians and aiming to breed a few more of those, and we have our APSL Lusitano mare permanently with Renae Marisma in a long term partnership. The aim is two pure PSL foals from embryo Transfers for us, and one foal for Renae Marisma every year. She will be treating Poppy as her own and she is preparing her start under saddle. 😃
So yes, there will be amazing foals to come, but not as many Warlanders long term, with a focus on the rare purebreds that need to be preserved in Australia. 🇦🇺
I will be advertising a few young stock soon, and possibly also a pure Andalusian mare in foal. Once I have had my mares scanned again I will know for sure if any older mares are going to be available.
Our beloved Monty and Lucy won't be going anywhere (ever), so there will always be at least one amazing Warlander pairing.
Our goal after this foaling season is to cut back, be more of a boutique breeder and have less foals of a higher quality going forward. 🙏

Bethanie enjoyed some cuddles with our Warlander filly Guinevere and our heavily pregnant Warlander mare Lucy.

Beautiful Lucy is starting to look very pregnant. She is due in August for the third F2 50/50 Warlander foal by Monty. This pairing has produced two outstanding foals, Hurricane and Morpheus.
I really really hope this one is a filly I can keep! 🙏
Very exciting news for our “Aus PRE”!
To our amazing PRE community in Australia!
At the start of last year the PREAA Board embarked on a complete review of all the boring stuff, like the constitution, government registrations, website, forms and documents, etc… it was an epic undertaking and quite a lot of work needed to go into updating and refreshing PREAA.
Why did we do it?
With the growth of PRE in Australia, it was necessary to align what the breeders, owners and enthusiasts need as we continue to progress the breed here.
What's happened so far?
* A new name.
* A new brand that reflects the PRE in Australia.
* Formed as an Incorporated Association, with a constitution that aligns its objectives with what we are and aim to be.
* A new website that is currently under construction and slowly will have updated content with some exciting new pages.
Our main purpose is to continue to be the official representative for ANCCE and promote the PRE Horse in Australia.
Quite often PREAA will get comments and questions about who PREAA is, what it stands for and how it is linked to ANCCE.
We found unless people had a long history with PREAA most people found the name unclear and a bit confusing.
So with ANCCE approval the management committee created a new brand.
A brand that would be clear with who we are, a brand that clearly explains our purpose and our vision of expanding and promoting the PRE breed well into the future.
We would like to present to you all:

We are very excited about the future for AUSPRE and the PRE Horse.
Due to some issues with Meta, changing the name on the PREAA FB page has been impossible so we have also created a new FB page.
This year we will continue to update you with some exciting agenda items in regard to the promotion of the PRE in offical competition capacity.
We appreciate your patience during this transition period and always welcome feedback and ideas which can be directed through the website. We remind all our community to reach out to AUSPRE should you need to have a chat or have a question you would like answered.

Thanks for your kind words everyone. Rubi seems to be ok today, obviously she is sad and flat but she has a friend with her and enjoyed a reiki session. I feel the reiki was for both of us, not just her. 💕
Rest in peace Titch. I am beyond devastated but I know my vet and I made the right choice for him. We did everything we could, he wasn’t too precious for this world. A fighter until the end.
Seeing Rubi with him is breaking my heart into a million pieces. 😭
My vet Georgia has truly been phenomenal with us, ever since he was born. I couldn’t ask for a more compassionate, down to earth vet who truly cares. She was almost as upset as me saying goodbye to him. I appreciate her honesty today and her patience and love for our little man.
This is my first foal loss (not including stillborn twins), and it hits in the heart deeply. But I will
keep going and focus on the amazing foals due in spring. I have learned A LOT from this experience and the fact that my mare Rubi is ok, is something I am so grateful for.
This whole situation has brought Rubi and I together in a bond that has taken 3 years to forge. I am so glad I didn’t sell her and I persevered as she has been AMAZING to deal with throughout this entire thing. She doesn’t deserve this 😭

Update - Passed his igG test with flying colours!
Just awaiting his IgG test result and we are in the clear! My vet is extremely happy with him. He is still nameless as nothing feels right. 🤦♀️

Glad I made the call to stable them. At least I know he is going to be much warmer. He can drink unassisted but just can’t stand himself up yet. Nice to actually have a horse in our stables for once! 😂

He has had a tube feed of colostrum as a precaution and we have to feed him every hour today, but our vet is optimistic he will be ok. He is standing and trying to drink on his own. Mumma is amazing and thank goodness not a maiden.
We have a c**t! He was also a twin so I am in a bit of shock as she had a few scans! One was stillborn but this little man looks good. We are waiting for our vet to check them both. Our second set of twins with one surviving.
Of course Rubi is waxed up now I am away!

Today it was our Warlander mare Lucy’s (Arion Elske) turn for a ride. This is her first ride in over 2.5 year since she had her two foals. Our trainer Emily Pellow who also started Lucy under saddle was here to guide Paul and give him a bit of a lesson. Thank you so much Emily! Lucy didn’t put a foot wrong for Paul. Emily also had a ride on her after Paul. It was so lovely seeing her in the saddle. Lucy’s temperament is amazing and we can’t wait to see her with more rides under her belt.

Our Warlander filly Guinevere and Iberian fillies have now been weaned. They are in with Nicky, Isabella and Amali and are coping very well. Our three fillies are now together who look similar from a distance but one is grey, one is black and one is Smokey black. 🦄🩷

Our F2 Warlander colt Morpheus went to his new home today. He walked straight into the float first try, after only one loading training session on the weekend. Congrats Damien Browne on your new colt. He is a cracker! Monty never fails to produce foals with the most sensible, willing temperaments. Of course Lucy gets half the credit too. She is with Monty now making their third foal. Praying for a filly to keep this time! 🙏
