Walking Challenge Week 1
So, this is the first week of our walking challenge month.
We had a wet start of our challenge as we have been having a very wet weather in Sydney.
However, this does not stop us from going outside and spend some quality time together taking in some fresh air.
There are many health and wellbeing benefits about walking, but what I love about the most is it helps me feel grounded and refreshed. My kitty equally loves walking with me. Although he is too scared to walk on leash, he loves being carried in his backpack and pop his head out to see the world outside his comfortable home as you can see on this video.
But the best benefit of this walking challenge is that we can help animals in need by spending time together!

Wild Koala Day
Today is Wild Koala Day!
Did you know that koalas are one of the 10 species in the world that are most at risk from climate change?
Some of the main causes of this are increasing aridity, increasing frequency of wildfire, increasing length and severity of droughts and heatwaves, all of which lead to stress and increasing disease. On top of that, the damaging effect of increased carbon dioxide on eucalyptus leaves, which leads to higher toxins and lower nutritional compounds for koalas.
Koalas are running out of time.
We are the biggest problems for koalas, but also are the solution. There are simple things we can do as I shared with you in this post.

Walking Challenge
At the end of this month, my kitty, Joyous, and I are participating the annual RCPCA charity event, Million Paws Walk!
During the pandemic, this event was done virtually where we walked every single day in May as we did fundraising. Since then, this one month long walk in May has become our annual thing to do together.

Reasons Why You Should Adopt Rescued Animals
There is a beautiful quote by an unknown author that perfectly captures the essence of rescued animals: 'Rescued animals are not damaged goods; they are diamonds in the rough, waiting for someone to see their potential and give them a chance to shine.'
Rescued animals are not burdens; they do not carry baggage. They simply have more life experience than non-rescued animals. It's not their fault they end up in shelters. In many cases, it's humans who fail to treat these beautiful animals with the respect they deserve.
Those who are fortunate enough to encounter rescued animals can attest to how special and loveable they are. They crave love and companionship, just like any other animal. Please do not overlook them simply because they may have 'issues.' These are not 'issues,' but scars inflicted by fellow humans. Behind those scars lies a diamond waiting to shine. Give them the chance to love you, and you'll discover their true brilliance.

Things Your Animals Do For You
The other day, I was working at the computer. I was fully concentrating on my work at the computer when I noticed my cat sitting by my side, softly meowing for attention. With a gentle smile, I reached out to pat on his head, acknowledging his presence before returning my focus to the task at hand. However, his meows grew more persistent, prompting me to pause and give him my attention once again. I thanked him for the reminder to take a break, reassuring him that I was nearing the end of my work. With that, I resumed my tasks, only to be interrupted as he leaped onto the keyboard. I heard him saying “Enough Mum! Time to get off the computer!!” Glancing at the time, I realised to my surprise that it was already 2:30 pm, which meant that I had been working continuously for over four hours.
As any devoted pet owner understands, our animal companions are far more than just 'pets' requiring care; they are invaluable companions who enrich our lives in countless ways.
Every animal that crosses our path, whether for a brief moment or a lifetime, does so with a purpose. Their presence serves not only to aid in their own growth but also to facilitate ours.
Our beloved animals possess an innate understanding of what we need to learn and when we need to learn it, guiding us along our respective paths of growth. Their actions serve as invaluable lessons, delivered with impeccable timing tailored to our individual needs.
So, instead of getting frustrated or dismissing their behaviours, we should express gratitude to our animals for guiding us towards self-discovery and personal evolution.

World Stray Animals Day
Today is World Stray Animals Day.
In many animal rescue centres, stray animals are brought in on a daily basis. Although they want to take in all these animals, it’s not always possible to do so, because they are in full capacity.
In the meantime, there are many stray animals on streets without access to food, water, shelter, and love.
Today is the day to raise awareness of these unfortunate animals out there so that we can help them find their loving forever home.
There are many things we can do to make it happen. Remember, every small action is a big action. Your small action can help these helpless animals receive the life they deserve.

What A Good Leader Looks Like
Leadership serves as the guiding force that provides structure and direction for both humans and animals alike. It's not merely about asserting authority, but rather about fostering trust, communication, and mutual respect. Clear and consistent leadership sets the tone for a harmonious coexistence between humans and dogs.
Consistency is key in all aspects of leadership. From daily routines to behavioural expectations, dogs thrive when they know what to expect from their humans. This consistency provides a sense of security and stability, which is essential for their overall well-being.
Furthermore, clear communication is fundamental to effective leadership. Dogs rely heavily on non-verbal cues and body language to interpret their environment and understand human interactions. Why Dogs Need Clear & Consistent Leadership
As an Animal Communicator, I frequently assist clients grappling with their dog’s challenging behaviour. Through my conversations with their animals, it often becomes evident that what these dogs truly require is clear and consistent guidance from their pet parents.
Unclear and inconsistent guidance from us humans can leave our canine companions feeling confused and frustrated, leading to common behavioural issues. I must admit, I've been guilty of this myself with my beloved dog.
In the past, I naively believed in an 'equal relationship' with my dog, thinking we simply supported each other. However, I soon learned that dogs thrive when provided with clear and consistent leadership. There's no room for equality in their world; they need guidance to feel secure and confident.
If you're currently facing challenges with your furry friend, I urge you to reflect on your role as a leader. Have you clearly communicated boundaries and expectations? Have you been consistent in your approach?

From Grief To Growth: How To Talk To Yourself To Overcome Guilt And Regret
Sadly, my cherished fish, GMan, has transitioned to the afterlife world last week. GMan, a mischievous yet deeply affectionate companion, shared a unique bond with his brother, Boo. Their personalities were quite opposite, with Boo being sociable, while GMan, initially shy, took a bit of time to warm up to me. However, as our bond developed, his reserved nature gave way to a blossoming relationship.
Every morning, GMan brought a smile to my face, stationed eagerly at the front of the fish tank as a gentle reminder to feed both him and his brother. This routine continued faithfully until he fell ill.
As many pet parents experience, I found myself entangled in a web of self-doubt, mentally listing all the things I had failed to do and should have done. I yearned to be a better pet parent, to spend more quality time with them, and to have better knowledge of fish care—the list seemed endless.
Yet, the harsh reality remains that no amount of self-blame or regret can reverse GMan's departure. None of these sentiments serve any purpose for either GMan or myself.
Therefore, I have made the conscious choice to forgive myself for every perceived shortcoming and focus only on treasuring the beautiful memories created with GMan and Boo.
If you find yourself grappling with self-blame and struggling to overcome regrets over your beloved animal's loss, I encourage you to do the same. Forgive yourself and embrace kindness through loving words.
Your departed animal would not wish for you to carry the burden of blame and unkindness. Remember, you did your best with the knowledge you had—that, above all, is what truly matters.

Whether you let your cat let out unsupervised or not is a controversial topic amongst cat parents.
Personally, I choose to keep my kitty at home and let him out in the garden under my supervision. This is purely because I want to keep him and the wildlife safe.
However, there is a downside of this choice as well. Indoor cats tend to have a weight issue because of the limited amount of exercise they get. My kitty is no exception.
Although my kitty already has a few scratch poles, he was not getting enough exercise by using them. That is why I decided to buy a cat playground.
With our friends’ help, now my kitty has a big playground that gives him both exercise and comfortable places to relax. This is a great way for enrichment.

Is your cat the adventurous type, or does the mere mention of a car ride send them into a hide? While it's not the norm for most cat parents to hit road with their feline companions, trips to the vet are often a non-negotiable drive.
Cat car ride anxiety is a real struggle for many pet parents, with reasons ranging from:

Infrequent travel / Lack of familiarity
Associating car rides with vet visits or other unpleasant experiences

Lack of control

Signs Of Kitty Love
Working as an Animal Communicator, two of the most common questions that my clients want to ask their animals are, “Does my animal know that I love them?” or “Does my animal love me?”
We, including our animals, are all unique individuals. We define love and express it differently. How do you define love? I define love with these words. Kindness, compassion, warmth, intimacy, trust, appreciation, understanding, commitment, dedication and respect. I express my love to my beloved feline baby in my own unique ways every single day which is different from how you express your love to your beloved animals.
Having said that, there are also similarities and typical ways to express love such as cuddles and kisses. Animals, in particular, cats are the same as I shared in this post.

Signs Of Doggie Love
We, including our animals, are all unique individuals.
We have our own definitions of love and express it differently. For example, the way I express my love to my beloved feline baby every single day is different from the way you express your love to your beloved animals on the daily basis.
Although it’s always fun to celebrate special days with our animals with special treats and presents, It’s also important to remember that those special days don’t have to be the only day when we express our love to our animals. We can express it in every interaction in our daily life, because everything we do for them is an expression of love. In fact, these daily actions are more important and meaningful for our animals than the occasional special treats we give on special occasions.
It’s the same for our animals. They do not express their love to us only on special occasions. They express it to us in their own unique ways every single day. It could be when we wake up, when we come home, when we snuggle up with them in the evening, or when they lick our face when we are sad, etc.
Having said that, you may be the kind of person who wants to see more evidence of their love. I completely understand that. It’s only human nature that we want to ‘see' the clear evidence of our precious animal’s love. That’s why I have created this post, especially for dog parents out there (cat’s version of it will follow later this week).

How To Keep Your Indoor Cat Happy & Content
In my role as an Animal Communicator, I often encounter clients whose animals have faced tragic incidents while outdoors, leading to their unexpected passing. Understandably, those pet parents are devastated. It is only my wish to prevent such devastating incidents from happening by raising awareness about the potential risks associated with allowing beloved animals to venture outdoors unsupervised.
I do agree that the amount of exercise and stimulation that outdoor environments can offer cats are greater than indoor environments. However, it is essential to recognise that there are effective strategies for creating a happy, enjoyable, and stimulating indoor life for your cat.
As pet parents, our collective goal is to ensure that our precious animals are happy, healthy and safe. Whether to grant your cat the freedom to explore outside or keep them inside is ultimately a personal choice. However, with careful consideration and creative solutions, we can provide an indoor environment that is not only safe and comfortable but also engaging and enjoyable for our beloved animals.
