🎄🐾 Spreading a Little Christmas Cheer to Our Story Dog Volunteers! 🐾🎄

We’ve been busy in the Hillbilly Hound kitchen putting together these adorable Christmas treat bags — a wholesome, mini festive “bento box” packed with a mix of our favourite natural goodies. ✨

And where are they headed? Straight to the incredible Story Dog volunteers. 💛

If you haven’t heard of them, Story Dogs is an amazing program where volunteers and their beautiful dogs help kids gain confidence in reading. Their work is gentle, powerful, and full of heart — so we wanted to send a little love back their way this Christmas.

Inside each treat bag is a curated selection of our most-loved, 100% natural, Aussie-made snacks — just a small “thank you” for the big difference these volunteers make every single week.

🐾 DOGGOS OF THE WEEK — Miss Mouse & Billie! 🐾

This week’s spotlight is shining bright on two Huntingdale cuties: Miss Mickey (aka Miss Mouse) in her purple collar, and Billie, the blue-collared baby of the family. And yes… they are every bit as adorable as they look. 😍

👑 Miss Mouse — 4 years old
Elegant. Regal. The Queen of the household.
She’s loving, gentle, affectionate — and knows exactly how to get what she wants. (Usually by looking cute… and it works every time.)

🦁 Billie — 9 months old
The resident derpy boy with the heart of a lion.
He may be goofy, but he’s fiercely protective and absolutely devoted to his family.

And together? They love nothing more than attempting to raid the treat bag, especially when it’s full of Fluffy Roo Chews. The photos Jess sent say it all — these two were determined to break in before Mum could even open it. 😂

"Everyone’s talking about Black Friday, but I want to shine a light on something different this year.

Big companies can afford to take 50%, 60%, even 70% off — not because they’re generous, but because they’ve built those margins in all year. It’s a well-oiled machine designed to make a big splash, pull everyone in, and sweep up a tidal wave of sales.

But for small, local, family-run businesses, it’s a completely different story.

We don’t have the luxury of hiding huge discounts in our pricing.
We don’t have warehouses full of overstock or entire teams modelling profit curves.
We don’t have the funding to burn cash just to “win” a shopping weekend.

When massive sales roll out, small businesses get hit twice:
— once because we can’t slash our prices, and
— again because so much spending disappears into big retailers instead of staying in our own communities.
