Pretty Birdies Toys We believe in making & teaching our customers how to make the safest bird toys for their companions. Birds are born to destroy. I can just make that myself!

OUR MISSION is to create and distribute safe, engaging toys that
provide enrichment and fun to your bird’s life. We believe that bird toys
should not have to cost an arm and a leg, and do not need to be fancy in order for your birds to love them! Often, without appropriate toys and items
provided, their shredding instincts turn to your household furnishings
and surfaces. This is often very unsafe

as many household items are
made with materials not safe for avian consumption. Our toys are
designed specifically to be destroyed, thus engaging your bird’s natural
instincts and helping to keep your furniture and curtains safe! Several toys commonly available on the market are not safe for birds;
toys made from synthetic fibres, or even cottom rope; toys designed to resemble a cave or nest; toys made out of soft plastic or potentially toxic metals. Our toys use only materials that have been shown to be safe for birds to chew on. We research every material we use, before we commit to using it! You may look at our toys and think “Hey! Why would I pay for it?” And you are right… most of our toys you CAN
make yourself! However, not everyone has time to sit down and make a
bunch of toys, or doesn’t have access to appropriate materials to do so. So we have taken the work out of it and made them for you! We completely support people making their own toys. We welcome
questions and feedback on our toys, and are only too happy to give you tips and pointers on making your own toys. If you want to take some of our products home and use them as a template, that is awesome! Our aim is not to get rich, but rather to promote safe, healthy enrichment for birds in all homes!

Seeking expressions of interest

Is anyone interested in a bird toy making workshop?

Proposing a small cost to cover supplying materials and you can keep what you make, and more valuable than that, you know how to make them in the future 😁
Birds, like other animals, need enrichment in their lives, often this is in the form of toys with the sole purpose of being destroyed. Many commercially available toys are NOT safe because of many different reasons. We mitigate this risk by making our own and we'd love to teach this skill to as many others as possible

Here's a simple enrichment hack! Put a carrot on a skewer and attach to cage/avairy. Ta-da! Carrot perch and they're getting veggies as they destroy it. Granted it won't last more than a day (meaning take it out because the bacteria risk increases and crispness of the carrot plummets) but it's cheap and entertaining for them.

Individual longevity depends on how much your bird like to chew and they chew strength.
