About Marcel Loeb Equestrian:
Marcel is a passionate horse trainer and riding instructor.

My equestrian journey began in Germany, where I earned my 3-year Bereiter qualification. My riding style is rooted in the classical German training scale, emphasising a gentle approach and a strong connection with the horse. I focus heavily on foundational skills and riders position, with expertise in both dressage and jumping.

With 18 years of experience in riding, coaching, and training. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with renowned Grand Prix riders, working as a trainer at a successful breeding stud and I also had the privilege of contributing as Head Coach to several renowned riding schools, where I’ve been fortunate to connect with a diverse community of skilled and dedicated equestrians.

What I cherish most about coaching is witnessing my clients’ progressβ€”whether it’s finding more joy in their rides or achieving remarkable competition results. Horses have unique personalities, and helping them develop is truly rewarding for me. Sharing my skills and knowledge with the Australian equestrian community is a pleasure for me.

I would love to hear from you!

Happy Riding!

πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ Rider Fitness and Well-being: Elevate Your Riding Skills! 🌟

Hey equestrians! 🐎

Did you know that your fitness and well-being play a crucial role in your riding performance? Just like our equine partners, we need to be in top shape to ride effectively. Here's why rider fitness is important and how exercises off the horse can enhance your skills and overall health:

1. Core Strength: πŸ’ͺ
A strong core is essential for maintaining balance and stability in the saddle. It helps you communicate more effectively with your horse and absorb movement smoothly.
Exercises like planks, Pilates, and yoga can strengthen your core, improving your posture and control while riding.

2. Flexibility and Mobility: πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ
Flexibility in your hips, legs, and back allows for better movement and aids in absorbing the horse's motion.
Incorporate stretching routines and activities like yoga or tai chi to enhance your flexibility and prevent injuries.

3. Cardiovascular Fitness: πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
Good cardiovascular health ensures you have the stamina for longer rides and intense training sessions.
Engage in activities like running, cycling, or swimming to boost your endurance and energy levels.

4. Mental Well-being: πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ
Riding is not just physical; it's a mental game too. Maintaining mental well-being helps you stay focused and calm, improving your connection with your horse.
Practices like mindfulness, meditation, or even a simple walk in nature can enhance your mental clarity and reduce stress.

πŸ” Pro Tip: Consistency is key! Regularly incorporating these exercises into your routine will not only improve your riding skills but also contribute to your overall well-being.

🐎 Mastering Transitions: Walk, Trot, Canter, and Beyond! 🌟

Hello, dedicated riders! 🐴

Transitions are a cornerstone of effective riding, enhancing your horse's responsiveness, balance, and overall performance.
Let's talk about the technical aspects of practicing transitions and how to execute them with precision using your correct aids. Leg, Seat & Rein.

Benefits of Transitions:
Enhances Responsiveness: πŸš€ Regular practice sharpens your horse's reaction to subtle cues, promoting seamless communication between horse and rider.

Improves Balance and Engagement: βš–οΈ Transitions require your horse to engage their hindquarters, improving balance and promoting a more collected frame.

Builds Muscle and Flexibility: πŸ’ͺ The dynamic nature of transitions exercises various muscle groups, enhancing strength and flexibility.

Encourages Relaxation and Focus: πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ Well-executed transitions help maintain your horse's mental focus and physical relaxation, reducing tension.

Executing Transitions with Precision:

Walk to Trot:
Seat Aid: Slightly lighten your seat by engaging your core, allowing your hips to follow the motion. πŸ‡
Leg Aid: Apply even pressure with both legs at the girth to encourage forward movement. 🦡
Rein Aid: Maintain a steady, elastic contact to support the upward transition without restricting forward motion. πŸ‘

Trot to Canter:
Seat Aid: Deepen your seat, allowing your hips to follow the canter motion, and prepare for a slight lift. πŸ‡
Leg Aid: Apply inside leg pressure at the girth and outside leg slightly behind the girth to cue the lead. 🦡
Rein Aid: Provide a subtle inside rein cue to encourage the correct lead, while maintaining steady contact. πŸ‘

Canter to Trot:
Seat Aid: Deepen your seat and engage your core to stabilize your position. πŸ‡
Leg Aid: Maintain light leg contact to support the transition without rushing. 🦡
Rein Aid: Apply a gentle half-halt with the outside rein to signal the downward transition, ensuring a smooth change. πŸ‘

Trot to Walk:
Seat Aid: Sit deeper and allow your seat to follow the slower rhythm of the walk. πŸ‡
Leg Aid: Gently squeeze with your legs to support the transition, preventing a sudden halt. 🦡
Rein Aid: Use a soft, consistent rein pressure to guide the transition while maintaining contact. πŸ‘

πŸ” Pro Tip: Consistent practice of transitions not only refines your horse's skills but also builds a harmonious partnership. Focus on the quality of each transition to achieve precision and fluidity.

🌟 Saddle Fitting 101: Ensuring Comfort for Your Horse! 🌟

As someone who has seen countless saddles over the years, I can't stress enough the importance of a proper fit. A well-fitted saddle is crucial for your horse's comfort and performance. Here are some key tips to keep in mind:

Balance: Ensure the saddle sits evenly on your horse's back without tilting forward or backward.

Wither Clearance: You should be able to fit 2-3 fingers between the saddle and your horse's withers.

Gullet Width: The gullet should be wide enough to avoid pinching your horse's spine.

Panel Contact: The panels should make even contact along your horse's back without any gaps.

Tree Size: Make sure the tree size matches your horse's shape to avoid discomfort.

πŸ” Pro Tip: Regularly check the fit as your horse's body changes over time.
I recommend getting your saddle checked and fitted every 6 months, or whenever your horse has changed shape, lost, or gained weight. Consult a professional saddle fitter if you're unsure!

πŸ’¬ Need a recommendation? Feel free to ask me for recommendations for a good Saddle fitter.

I've seen firsthand how a poorly fitted saddle can affect a horse's well-being, so don't overlook this crucial aspect of riding.

πŸ“‹ The Power of a Training Plan: Set Your Horse Up for Success! 🐎

Developing a structured training plan for your horse is a game-changer when it comes to achieving your riding goals. Here's why having a training plan is essential and how I can help you create one:

1. Set Clear Goals: 🎯
Define what you want to achieve with your horse, whether it's mastering a new skill, preparing for a competition, or improving overall fitness.
Break down these goals into manageable steps and set realistic timelines for achieving them.

2. Consistency is Key: πŸ”‘
A training plan helps maintain a consistent routine, which is crucial for your horse's learning and development.
Consistency builds trust and understanding between you and your horse, leading to better communication and performance.

3. Track Progress: πŸ“ˆ
Regularly assess your horse's progress and adjust the plan as needed. This helps identify areas of improvement and ensures you're on track to meet your goals.
Celebrate small victories along the way to keep motivation high for both you and your horse.

4. Balance Training and Rest: βš–οΈ
Incorporate rest days and varied activities into your plan to prevent burnout and keep your horse mentally and physically fresh.
Include a mix of groundwork, riding, and fun activities to keep your horse engaged and motivated.

πŸ” Pro Tip: Tailor the training plan to your horse's individual needs, considering their temperament, fitness level, and any specific challenges.

🀝 Need Assistance? I'm here to help! If you're unsure where to start or need guidance in creating a personalized training plan for you & your horse, feel free to reach out. Together, we can set your horse on the path to success!

🌿 Benefits of Horse Body Work! 🌿

Hello, horse lovers! 🐴 Have you tried incorporating Body work into your horse's routine? If not, you're missing out on some incredible benefits. Keeping your horse's muscles soft and treated is key to their health and happiness. Here's why:

✨ Prevent Soreness: Just like us, horses can get sore muscles from exercise and activity. Regular massage helps alleviate tension and prevents soreness, ensuring your horse stays comfortable and ready to perform.

✨ Avoid Behavior Issues: A horse in discomfort can develop behavior issues. Massage helps keep them relaxed and happy, reducing the risk of unwanted behaviors.

✨ Boost Performance: Relaxed muscles mean better performance. Massage helps your horse stay in top condition, whether they're training or competing.

✨ Promote Relaxation: Beyond the physical benefits, massage is a mental break for your horse, promoting relaxation and mental well-being.

πŸ’¬ Need a recommendation? Feel free to ask me for recommendations for a good body worker. I'm here to help your horse feel their best!

🌟 Training for Better Balance in the Saddle 🌟

Hey, fellow equestrians! 🐴 Are you looking to improve your balance and become a more effective rider? Here are some exercises and tips to help you achieve just that!

1. Core Strengthening
Over the years, I've found that a strong core is crucial for maintaining balance. My go-to exercises are planks and sit-ups. They might be challenging at first, but trust me, they make a world of difference!

2. Yoga and Pilates
These practices are fantastic for enhancing flexibility and balance. Try poses like the tree pose or warrior pose to improve your stability.

3. Balance Drills
One of my favorite balance drills is standing on one leg while brushing my teeth! It may sound funny, but it's a simple way to challenge your equilibrium daily. Balance boards are also fantastic for stepping up your game.

4. In-Saddle Exercises
While riding, practice two-point position and no-stirrup work to strengthen your legs and improve balance.

5. Mindfulness and Focus
Stay present and focused while riding. Visualize your movements and maintain a steady rhythm with your horse.

Remember, balance is key to effective communication with your horse and achieving harmony in your rides. 🐎πŸ’ͺ

Feel free to share your own tips or experiences in the comments below! Let's help each other become better riders. 😊

🐴 Groundwork is the foundation of a strong bond and successful partnership with your horse! Whether you're training for competition or simply building trust, groundwork is essential.

πŸ”‘ Key Benefits of Groundwork:

1. Improves Communication – Establishes clear signals between you and your horse, making riding smoother and more enjoyable.

2. Builds Trust & Respect – Strengthens your relationship and ensures your horse is responsive and willing to follow your lead.

3. Enhances Balance & Coordination – Prepares your horse physically for riding by improving their posture and flexibility.

4. Develops Mental Focus – Helps your horse become more attentive and responsive, reducing anxiety and distractions.

5. Increases Safety – By teaching your horse to respect your space and respond calmly, groundwork can prevent accidents on the ground and under saddle.

Remember, every great ride starts on the ground! 🐎 "
