This is a new bathroom at our new property that i am building. I have been building things since primary school . Long before before i had horses. The similarities between them , is my imagination. In this instance i needed to attach the door to door frame by myself. I just adapt whatever is available to get the job done. I can also design and see things i am going to build in my head first and identify potential design weaknesses . This helps greatly with horses also.

Magnified hoof wall from underneath. From outside in. .. pigmented hoof wall, un pigmented hoof wall, white line( actually yellowish) and then sole. To me, it is like plywood, composed of many layers. Which can and do delaminate .

Participated in a Hoof Building Clinic with David Landreville ( from Arizona , U.S.A.) at Samford Qld on 8/9 Nov 2023 . Packed with practical information and techniques with a unique focus on how to let the horse give the trimmer valuable instant feedback on the trim in prpgress .

First time trimming Dallas. Long time since previous trim. Trimed each hoof 3 times with a short break( for Dallas) in between . Will be back in 3 weeks to remove more dead compacted sole and frog. His tail has been fractured some time before his current owner . The curved part is rigid fused tail bones.

First ride on Sunny in saddle in arena. After small ride in round yard. Exceptionally pleased for Sunny that he could process and place his empowerment into long term memory Immediately after i dismounted .💕

Picked up Goldies hoof and find a screw embedded in her hoof. Luckily it was in her white line so no lasting damage done or lameness at this stage.

Holly is a 10 yr old Shire mare . I am about to trim her hooves . She previously weighed 920 kilograms .

To help Sunny understand how to flex his entire spine into a curve . I am using his Mother and the tyres to give him a reason to decide that it would be a good idea to curve his body ! His idea then goes into long term memory !

With frequent copious rain and lots of mud, some horses hooves are comprised. Goldie has 24/7 access to her concreted stable and frequent access to the large concreted area under in beside house. This lets her hooves ( and the rest of her)
dry out mud/ wet grass free.

Freddie the dark coloured donkey has challenged me and presented the greatest learning opportunities for me in a long time. My role is to empower him to willingly allow himself to have his hooves picked up without being sedated. Then i will trim him. ‘’Will ask clients to take some photos /videos of us next time so i can post them .

Acute laminitis attack very close to happening. Cause … too much lush green grass after rain. Solution… reduce attack on digestive system by changing diet immediately (reduction in total calories feed evenly over each 24 hour period). paddock design to encourage movement, dry places to stand and monitoring hooves with ultra short interval trims . Horse was walking ok on soft grass . Photo of near front hoof. Pink in white line and on sole are Red flags. Ridges on hoof wall indicate stress.

Pink cresent either side of cavity i dug to remove seedy toe. The pink is indicates diet needs to be changed NOW to avoid potential laminitis. Low G.I. Diet .
