Policies:
In order to maintain a safe environment, we do require all pets to be up to date with vaccinations. Fleas: Please note that there will be
an additional charge for dogs with fleas
Aggressive Pets: Owner must inform me if your dog is known to be aggressive, has ever bitten anyone, aggressive towards other pets or specific grooming procedures, or displays any other kind of behavioural problem. The owner understand that they will be legally liable for the consequences of all injuries caused by their dog. If a dog shows a tendency toward excessive aggression during the groom, we reserve the right to use a soft muzzle for our safety. If we are unable to complete a groom due to any of the above-mentioned behaviours or injuries, the owner agrees to pay for any work that preceded the behaviour or injury. We reserve the right to refuse to groom aggressive or difficult dogs, including dogs with behavioural problems. Matted Dogs: There is an extra charge for excessively matted dogs. Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Mats left in a pet’s coat only grow tighter, and can pull the pet’s skin, or eventually tear it open. Mats can be very difficult to remove and may require the pet to be shaved. When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin allowing mould, fungus or bacteria to grow causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted abrasions or irritation, and failure of the hair to re-grow. We will not be responsible for any ensuing consequences or veterinary costs. Prevention is the best defence against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments and daily brushing. Double Coat Shave Down: Only offered under some circumstances. Shaving a Double coated dog does not make the dog cooler, as the double coat acts as insulation in warm and cool weather when properly maintained. It will also not reduce shedding; it only makes the shedding coat shorter. If circumstances cause for a double coated dog to be shaved down a separate Indemnity form will have to be signed
Accidents: Although accidents are very rare, there is always a risk when dealing with pets. Grooming equipment can be sharp, and although we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible accidents could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails etc. This can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving about. Any accident, no matter how small, will be communicated to the pet owner. If necessary, Buddy’s Groom Room will transport your pet to a veterinarian. Any veterinary bills resulting from a pet being matted, elderly, aggressive or difficult temperament, or from a pre-existing or unforeseeable condition will be the sole responsibility of the owner. Medical Conditions or Senior Pets: Grooming older dogs come with risks. Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for senior pets or pets with health problems. Your senior dog will be groomed with gentleness and care, and we will not compromise any pet’s health and/or wellbeing to achieve “the perfect groom”. Buddy’s Groom Room will not be responsible for accident or injury (including death) to elderly or health compromised pets during their grooming. We reserve the right to seek veterinary help if needed at owner’s expense. We require 24 hours notice for cancellations
