Here's one for our bird friends!! 🦜 We couldn't be more chuffed seeing cute cockatiel, Pepper, soaking up some sunshine in our Pipco Pack carrier... repurposed into a bird-mobile by her clever owner 😍😍🥰

Please note, if using a Pipco Pack for your bird - 1) ALWAYS supervise your bird inside the pack, as parrots are notoriously good at chewing and the mesh isn't parrot proof! 2) As birds have a tendency to pick at potential nesting materials, the furry cushion in the Pipco Pack may be enticing for them to chew on but not great for their gut health. Pepper's creative owner fashioned a non-furry cover to go over the top 👌🏼 3) Introduce your feathered friend to their carrier (and the outdoors) slowly over several sessions so they stay calm and happy. Not all birds will necessarily enjoy going for walkies but we are delighted that Pepper approves of her little adventure-mobile 💓

🌈💔 Dear Coco,

I’ve spent half my lifetime with you. You weren’t just a pet, you were family. You were by our side for 16 and a half years; it felt like you would always be there.

You were bouncing back so well, woofy dog. I thought we would have a little more time, a few more adventures. I wanted to share a couple more days in the sun with you.

Now looking around and seeing your empty water bowl, your vacant seat belt in the car, and the little pram that you won’t ever joyride in again, fills me with sadness.

I hope that somewhere you are off playing, with your full health and vitality restored, feeling the grass under your paws and the wind in your fur.

I wish I could be there with you to see your little face light up and your tail wag again.

You will always be my family, Coax. I’m so sorry. We miss you xx

Our poor friend Mokka has developed a condition called ‘cherry eye’, or prolapse of the gland of the nictitating membrane. This is where the tear gland attached to the third (inner) eyelid of a dog, becomes displaced from inside the rim of the eye and bulges out of the corner of the eye. Poor puppy!⠀

Left untreated, cherry eye causes dryness of the eye that can lead to corneal damage and infection. Mokka needs surgery to correct both eyes 🥺⠀

🌈💔 Ghostie, you have been our little ray of sunshine from the moment you arrived. Never have we known such a joyful rat, who literally bounced around in glee at the simple pleasure of receiving a morsel of food or a tummy tickle.

Ghost was so thrilled to first discover she had free range of the house that she would follow us everywhere we went, racing after our feet so closely we would almost step on her. Reaching a hand into her napping nest would cause her to come zooming out with such excitement that I’d constantly get a fright.

A great collector, her favourite pastime was amassing mountains of rat kibbles that we’d scatter for her around the house. To our amusement she would always try to carry back three pieces in her mouth, never deterred by the fact that the third would inevitably fall out every time.

With her striking face blaze and husky coat, Ghost was our most beautiful rat. She had a beautiful soul to match, always with plentiful cuddles and bleps to bestow upon us and her rattie friends. When she was tired she would curl up under our shirts and lick our stomachs.

Our little toasty Ghost... we adore you beyond measure. It breaks our hearts that we didn’t get more time with you 💔

Thank you for sharing so much joy with us with the time you had, my little love.

Ghost is the fifth rat we have loved so intensely and lost too soon. Rats are endlessly endearing - an absolute pleasure to know and keep - but with an average lifespan of only 2-3 years, having them as pets is a rapid and relentless cycle of joy and heartbreak. Providing them as much care as possible to the very end is a huge emotional and financial investment. Although we fiercely cherish every rat we’ve had, for this reason we cannot bring ourselves to get any more as pets 💔
