I've been putting this post off for a wee while now. It's just too sad. We've made the very difficult decision to put our business on pause. It's been an incredibly exciting and challenging few years building our business, Mobius Farms and producing Chick Stix but we've hit a wall and need some downtime to recharge our batteries. One thing you can do to help them regrow their feathers quickly is to boost their protein and calcium. Chick Stix is a great, guilt-free way of introducing these essential elements into your chicken's diet. Essential for feather regrowth, black soldier fly larvae contain up to 50x the calcium of mealworms! I've certainly noticed a quicker recovery period for my flock since feeding them black soldier fly larvae.

Well that was a blast! Thanks South Australian Museum for inviting us to play with you at Night Lab! This event was part of the festival and brought together a group passionate about all things science, and the 80's! Our station was aptly called "So long and thanks for all the fish!!" Over the course of the evening, just a few hours, our army of black soldier fly larvae consumed an ocean trout. By the morning, there was nothing remaining but skin and bones!! Good job! We had the opportunity to demonstrate their composting power but also their potential to be turned into a range of useful products including pet and livestock food, bioplastics and cosmetics!

Saw these photos on the internet recently. The result of the Dunedoo Carp Muster 2023. Carp are a pest species of fish that are in plague proportions in much of Australia's freshwater ways. Communities often get together to try and manage their booming populations. A great community event!
As someone who values "waste", I can't help but think that we could be recovering these dead fish and processing them into more valuable products. Yes, they will eventually decompose in the ground, however, technologies like black soldier fly bioconversion could very rapidly convert these dead pest fish into high value insect protein that could be used for livestock feed. Requires collaboration and partnerships to make the most of bad situations. Food for thought?
