Not a lost pet but good advice
Two dogs in two days lost to heatstroke and they were on morning walks!
Heatstroke! We’re not going to sugar coat this. You will not see the signs until it is too late!
This is an emergency and life-threatening condition. We have had several heatstroke calls in the past week alone and unfortunately for some, they didn’t make it. There is no guarantee that your beloved furry family member will pull through as they literally cook from the inside out and so owners aren’t aware they are suffering until it is already too late.
They don't cool down as easily as us and unlike us they can’t just take their coat off or sweat it out! Dogs regulate their body temperatures by panting and releasing heat through their paw pads and as a consequence, there aren’t a great deal of options for your pet if you’re walking them on hot cement and the days temperatures are already high. Despite the sun setting late and the afternoons extended light time, dogs shouldn’t be walking or exercising for several hours after the night has set in or after the sun is up in the morning. They should also not be on the back of the ute or left in cars without air-conditioning on.
Your dogs (and other pets) NEED to have fresh, cool water available – some might like to lay in a small pool if you have the means to facilitate this. Shade is a MUST and if it is within your means, bring them inside in the air conditioning.
Brachycephallic breeds are also more susceptible to heat stress. So those with Frenchies, Staffy's, Pug's and Bulldogs etc should be taking extra care during the sweaty season.
Clinically, what we see:
Excessive panting
- Body temps >40’C
- Inability to move (collapse)
- Seizures
- Prolonged coagulation times

PLEASE, we are begging you, make sure your pets are safe during this time of
year.

I’m a small GSD breeder and showing GSD’s. I follow the high standards of GSDCA breeding schemes, which includes screening for Hip dysplasia and Elbow dysplasia & and will be Breed Survey Classified (temperament and conformationally assessed). I abide by strict codes of ethics set out by the GSDL, GSDCA & DogsNSW. Additionally, i abide by my own high standards and strong morals. You will not see me having multiple litters, raised in a kennel situation. I breed only when i wish to keep something for my self and and from sound lines and make sure I find the best homes possible for my puppies in the future I take pride in my animals and the level of dedication, commitment and care i provide. My dogs interact and play with each other and are part of my family. Have a marry Christmas 🎄. As of atm I’m only showing my boy and girl atm.

Stay Informed to Fight Back Against Extremists Groups Which Are Campaigning Against Pet Ownership

There are animal and environmental extremist groups which view any use of animals as akin to slavery and therefore abuse. They do not want animals in human care. These groups are targeting all sectors of animal ownership. Their aim is to incrementally make it more and more difficult for people to own domestic animals.

Please Help Us Protect Animal Ownership and Family Tradition in the United States.

One way you can help us fight back is to keep abreast on activities that threaten our way of life. Then share the information with friends and family.

Some examples of how animal and environmental extremists are pushing their agenda:
• New ordinances which restrict pet owner’s rights. Boise Idaho and Santa Cruz California have especially egregious regulations.
• It is now illegal to sell or purchase pets from pet stores in many cities and states.
• Social platforms influenced by animal extremism have banned the advertisement of animals for sale.
• State legislation with regulations for pets that would make it impossible to keep them (See the record for Linda Rosenthal of New York)
• Ballot initiatives (Colorado IP 16 and Oregon 13) are being pushed to make breeding and artificial insemination a criminal sexual offense
• We are seeing more and more articles and “studies” being pushed online which question whether pets are sustainable. We encourage you to see for yourself by Googling, “Are pets bad for the environment?” and “Are pets sustainable?”

In case you’ve missed this…

Santa Cruz County Animal Services Director is Being Given Unconstitutional Power
By Carin Ryan for Protect The Harvest

In an earlier Protect The Harvest article, we dove into the outlandish governmental overreach occurring in California’s Santa Cruz County. The hoops a Santa Cruz County animal owner has to go through in order to prove they are taking good care of their animals or some strays is expansive to say the least. The language they purposefully used throughout the animal services ordinance should cause significant alarm.

Mandatory Spay-Neuter, Approval of Breeding Stock by Director
One of the many restrictions the Model Ordinance outlined is mandatory spaying and neutering of animals. While most of the animal owners understand that spaying and neutering can be a best practice if they are not interested in breeding their animals, those that choose otherwise should not have to be subject to approval by the Animal Control director. According to the new Santa Cruz County Model Ordinance known and reputable breeders and trainers must first seek approval from the Animal Services Director in order to continue breeding. What constitutes “Approved breeding stock” is outlined here:

(4) Dogs which are appropriately trained and actually being used for herding of other, or as livestock guardian dogs, or dogs designated as breeding stock by an appropriate agency or organization approved by the Director after consultation with knowledgeable professionals.

The Director, whom we have found has no formal training in animal science or husbandry, has appointed themselves judge and jury to determine if you should be able to continue to breed your animals in Santa Cruz County. If a resident chooses to appeal any decisions, the Board of Supervisors hears the case.

If A County Resident is Suspected of Harboring an Un-altered Animal Their Fourth Amendment Rights Can be Violated
In addition to mandatory spay and neuter language, the Model Ordinance provides the county’s Animal Services Director or anyone they ask to work on their behalf, the ability to violate Americans’ Fourth Amendment Rights. If the county Animal Services “representative” has the suspicion that an animal in your charge is not spayed or neutered they can enter your property without a warrant and take your animal from your home, without warning.

6.04.170 Capture and custody of animals.
The Director is authorized to capture and take into custody:
(A) Any animal being kept or maintained in violation of a State statute or local ordinance;

(B) Dogs and other animals running at large in violation of a State statute or local ordinance;
(C) Sick, injured, stray, unwanted, neglected or abandoned animals;
(D) Unvaccinated dogs;
(E) Animals relinquished to the Director or the Animal Shelter; and
(F) Animals for which the owner or custodian is unable to care because of imprisonment, illness, bankruptcy litigation, or other contingency, or in cases in which the owner or custodian cannot be found.

If a County Resident is Suspected of Harboring a Sick Animal Their Fourth Amendment Rights Can be Violated
The ordinance language also allows the Animal Services Director or “assignee” the ability to enter a citizen’s home or property if there is a suspicion that one of their animals may be sick with a communicable disease or have a painful disease. It is extremely concerning that the ordinance allows for what is equal to Fourth Amendment violations based solely on suspicion – not facts or evidence. Here is the actual language:

(X) No person shall have, keep, or harbor any animal which is known or believed to be infected with any dangerous or communicable disease or which is afflicted with any painful disease which is believed by such person to be incurable except as otherwise provided in this title.

Arthritis is a painful and incurable disease which affects many elderly pets. While it can often be managed, this language would allow the Director or “assignee” the authority to enter your home or property and seize your animal.

“Any animal which is known or believed to be infected” can be interpreted a number of ways and few require evidence or are based in science. What if your dog has seasonal allergies or was at a dog park and picked up kennel cough and is coughing or sneezing for a day or two before you get the symptoms under control? What is stopping a representative or agent that the animal services director charges to act on their behalf from entering your property and taking your animal? This is an egregious overreach and nothing short of trespassing and theft.

Additional language that should concern everyone, and is also wide open for interpretation is as follows:

6.04.190 Right of entry for inspection.
(3) The Director or law enforcement officer has reasonable cause to believe that the keeping of an animal on the property is so dangerous that an immediate inspection is necessary to safeguard an animal or public health and safety and there is insufficient time to obtain a search warrant given the safety concerns. Under these circumstances, the Director or law enforcement officer may use reasonable means to immediately enter and inspect the building or property after presenting their credentials to the owner or occupant and requesting entry, if it is possible under the circumstances.
(4) This section does not prohibit the Director or a law enforcement officer from entering property for the purpose of capturing an animal running at large in violation of this title or another applicable law.

Microchipping and Vaccinations
The erosion of your constitutional rights as a law abiding American starts with dogs and cats but where will it end. In addition to mandatory spay-neuter, they also deem microchips and vaccines as mandatory. According to the ordinance language, animals over three months of age must be chipped. If an animal is impounded and found to be without a chip, the county animal control will implant a chip and charge the owner prior to its release.

Reading the section on vaccines, one will notice that writer of the ordinance either made an error or they are being purposefully contradictory. They allow you to not vaccinate your dog but then consider them unvaccinated and force you to abide by their rules, and still can come seize your dog anytime they deem necessary. The ordinance language regarding capture and custody of animals allows the animal control director or assignee to seize a dog and take it into custody if they believe it to be unvaccinated. According to the language, this includes dogs with a veterinary exemption from vaccination.

(3) A dog that is exempt from the vaccination requirements of this section shall be considered unvaccinated.
(4) A dog that is exempt from the vaccination requirements of this section shall, at the discretion of the County Health Officer or the Officer’s designee, be confined to the premises of the owner, keeper, or harborer, and when off the premises, shall be on a leash the length of which shall not exceed six feet and shall be under the direct physical control of an adult. A dog that is exempt from the provisions of this section shall not have contact with a dog or cat that is not currently vaccinated against rabies.

Animal Care, Treatment and Equipment
This section is just as purposely vague as the others. If a person subscribes to an animal extremist ideology, basic ownership of an animal is akin to slavery and therefore abuse. They view animals in human care as mistreatment, torment, and suffering. The language in section (F) is vague and leaves a door open to interpretation and misuse by animal extremists.

(F) Animals may not be neglected, teased, abused, mistreated, annoyed, tormented, or in any manner made to suffer.
(G) No condition may be maintained or permitted that is or could be injurious to the animals.

There are a number of regulations in this ordinance that use the terms, “could be injurious to animals.” Anyone who has owned animals, and especially those that work in veterinary hospitals know that animals can injure themselves even in the most well-designed environment. Who decides what “could be injurious?” If it is up to the animal control director or assignee, that is basically providing them with any reason to confiscate animals.

Equipment rules fall under the same category. Any equipment simply by accident has the ability to be injurious. For example, a dog could get tangled up in its own leash while out on a walk with its owner and injure a leg. A bit, reins, saddle, halter and lead rope if tangled or caught on something, or simply too loose by mistake could cause injury to a horse. This language essentially makes any use of equipment or other items a violation of the animal ordinance.

(R) Any equipment, device, substance, or material that is, or could be, injurious or cause unnecessary cruelty to an animal may not be used.

There are many more examples in this ordinance that could be misused and only one thing is clear – nothing about this ordinance is definitive or just.

Elimination of Public Protections from Government Overreach in California
On March 17th, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsome signed Executive Order N-29-20 which suspended in whole, the protections the public had in place from elected officials enacting governmental overreach. The Executive order specifically states:

“3. Paragraph 11 of Executive Order N-25-20 (March 12, 2020) is withdrawn and suspended by the following text:

“Notwithstanding any other provision of state or local law (including but not limited to, the Bailey-Keene Act or the Brown Act), and subject to the notice and accessibility requirements set forth below, a local legislative body or state body authorized to hold public meetings via teleconferencing and to make public meetings accessible telephonically or. Otherwise electronically to all members of the public seeking to observe and to address the local legislative. Body or state body. All requirements of both the Bagley-Keene Act and the Brown Act expressly or impliedly requiring the physical presence of member, the clerk or other personnel of. The body, or of the public as a condition of participation in or quorum for a public meeting are hereby waived.

In particular, any otherwise- applicable requirements that
(i) state and local bodies notice each teleconference location from which a member will be participating in a public meeting
(ii) each teleconference be accessible to the public;
(iii) members of the public may address the body at each teleconference location;
(iv) state and local bodies post agendas at all teleconference locations;
(v) at least one member of the state body be physically present at the location specified at the location of the meeting; and
(vi) during the teleconference meetings, a leases a quorum of the members of the local body participate from locations within the boundaries of the territory over which the local body exercises jurisdiction. are hereby suspended.”

With the stroke of a pen, Governor Newsom unleashed ill-intended elected officials to shove through legislation with only a closing recommendation:

“All state and local bodies are engaged to use sound discretion and to make reasonable efforts to adhere as closely as reasonably possible to the provisions of the Bagley-Keene Act and the Brown Act, and other applicable local laws regulating the conduct of public meetings in order to maximize transparency and provide the public access to their meetings”

All sounds great but who is watching when governing bodies are no longer required to post meeting locations and agendas? And how long will it take to discover all that’s been done against the will of the constituents in each of these areas?

Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors and their Director of Animal Services collectively showed their hand last May (2020) when they trotted out legislation to ban rodeos, livestock exhibitions, and beef up their own power. The public outcry was loud and effective until the powerful board realized the Bagley-Keene Act and Brown Act had been suspended. Indeed, they walked the legislation back and hastily added 4-H and FFA Livestock Exhibitions to the list of legal activities. All went quiet until January 26th, 2021 when the Board of Supervisors updated their County Code with Ordinance 5366. The meeting minutes include no information as to what Ordinance 5366 entails or how it will affect residents.

The citizens of the County of Santa Cruz will continue to live at the mercy of their elected officials as long as the Bagley-Keene Act and Brown Act are wholly or in part, suspended.

If this has already happened in Santa Cruz County, what is your own Board of Supervisors willing to do to infringe on your rights?

Are you attending your local meetings and staying on top of the issues?

The first step towards protecting our rights starts at the local level. You can make a difference in your town and county, but you have to take that first step. Stay involved and stay informed.

In case you’ve missed this…

What the closure of the circus means:

The history of Lucas Oil is the story of the American Dream. We founded Protect The Harvest because our American heritage is important, vital and what we value most. Unfortunately, in the last number of years, Animal Extremist groups have influenced our government and legal system, threatening agriculture, animal ownership, land and water use – our very way of life.

These groups have gone after animal exhibitions. They lied about Ringling Brothers and bullied them to close the circus. This is just the beginning of increasing trouble from Animal Extremist groups. If you have followed the story of Ringling Brothers in recent years, it is easy to track the events that lead to this.

Many people don’t realize that the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) does not own, run or oversee any shelters. They have been very deceptive in their advertising in order to dupe goodhearted people into giving them money. Instead, they function as a lobbying machine pushing to create laws and regulations that suit their extremist agenda. The attacks on Ringling Brothers are many and varied and come from a number of Animal Extremist groups including the HSUS, PETA, the ASPCA and others.

There are Animal Extremist sympathizers in politics, working to change city ordinances that made it impossible for the circus to perform in those markets. Animal Extremist groups waged ongoing protests and general, constant harassment of the circus. They filed frivolous lawsuits based on false charges that lasted years in length. During the course of this legal battle, it was proven that a false witness was paid $190,000 to lie on the stand. Feld Entertainment, the parent company of Ringling Brothers then brought suit against the HSUS, the ASPCA and other Animal Rights Extremist groups and their lawyers for violations of the RICO statute and Virginia Conspiracy Act, malicious prosecution, and abuse of process. The HSUS, the ASPCA, and other co-defendants paid a combined total of $25 million in damages to Feld Entertainment.

Animal Extremists have a skewed view of reality and what is in the best interest of animals. They are trapped in ideology. In the minds of Animal Extremists, no animal should be owned, used for a purpose or exhibited, even horses and pets. THEY MAKE NO DISTINCTIONS. The real truth, science and facts mean absolutely nothing to them. They have no care or thought for the consequences of their actions. They are not concerned about how domesticated animals, who rely on humans, will survive once they “set them free”.

It does not register with them that Asian elephants used in the circus have worked among people for thousands of years. It is in this same way Animal Extremists also disregard the domestication of other animals, for example, dogs and horses. Draft horses and Shetland ponies were designed to plow the fields and work pulling heavy loads. The Arabian horse was bred for beauty, endurance and the desert environment. Dogs were bred to pull sleds in the snow, to find people, to work as guardians, to hunt, and so on. None of this is relevant to these extremists. It does not matter. They want to end animal ownership. Those of us that exhibit or compete with animals are among their many targets.

The extremists that have been attacking the circus are inter-connected groups. In addition to targeting the circus, these very same groups are the ones attacking carriage horses, pony rides, horse shows, rodeos, dog and cat breeders, animal agriculture, Sea World and more. They feel righteous and now they believe their actions are vindicated by the closure of the circus. This closure will impact animal owners everywhere. They are now pushing legislation in other areas that makes transporting animals for exhibition prohibitive. Make no mistake, horses, horse shows and rodeos are on their list. In some states they are pushing legislation that is so far reaching, no one will be able to get a dog of their choice and going to dog shows, hunting and field trials will be impossible. It could be a rough ride for all of us in the coming years.

In addition to the attacks against animal ownership, we are quietly losing our ability to provide affordable food for our nation. Farming and ranching are also being threatened by extremist groups in the United States and so are your rights to feed your family. They have successfully written and funded legislation that has made the cost of eggs and other animal products in some states, like California, skyrocket. While this legislation was rammed through on the state level, it impacts interstate commerce as well. With those successes, they have plans to target other vulnerable sectors of agriculture at grass-roots local and state levels. If that isn’t enough, there is even a “think tank” group based in Washington D.C. that is recommending a 40% tax on beef and a 20% tax on other meat products.

Some people mistakenly think that these extremist groups are so radical that they can’t have an impact. Believe us when we tell you they are counting on complacency. The European Nation is a prime example of what happens. Did you know that due to the detrimental effects of extremists, Europe as a whole, is now importing more than 60% of its food? This is a dramatic change since 1997, when at that time they imported only 20%. If you look at those numbers in a different way, in 1997 they were producing 80% of the food they consumed and today, they are only producing 40%.

We need to protect our nation’s ability to produce food. Farmers and ranchers must be able to make decisions based on science. Instead, America is falling prey to emotional appeals from radical special interest groups who know nothing about farming and raising livestock.

Now more than ever, we need to all come together to stop the animal extremists and environmental bullies. In order to protect our rights to own and exhibit animals, to protect food production and to continue to affordably feed our families we need to take action. We are working hard to inform and educate people about their agenda, but we can’t do it alone. Your help is needed. The first step is to become informed yourself. Read through our website, sign up for our newsletter and then spread the word over your social media platforms . Help us protect your right to ride and show horses, your right to own the dog of your choice, your right to raise livestock and your right to provide your family with affordable food.

MORE LIES TO JUSTFY THEIR AIM TO STOP FARMING.

This post appears on the AJP Victoria page

“The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has warned that moving to a plant-based diet is imperative for the survival of the human species.

Animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of climate change, responsible for 1/3 of human-caused methane emissions and more emissions than the entire transportation sector combined.

"We don't have the resources to have eight billion people eating meat and dairy".

If we want real climate action, protected water sources, biodiversity, reforested land and reduced emissions, we must as individuals move to a plant-based diet.

The future is vegan.

It's time to embrace it.”

A little word to Disney: Once Upon a Time (in your words), you had an actor. This actor of yours created a character. A beautiful character unlike any other. Unique in his mannerisms, loved for his quirks. That character (pirate, to be more specific), became world renowned. Fans young and old flocked to see his works on the big screen, and disappointed they were not. This pirate was full of life, zest, whit, sarcasm and humor. Audiences loved him, laughed with him, reveled in the delight of observing his work. Yes, he was a treasure to behold in his fictional world. But that character touched our real world as well. That pirate and his unique touch did the unimaginable in bringing light to hospitals, smiles to broken faces, and hope to darkened corners. A true hero both on screen and off. One day, that hero of yours found himself in a position. The roles had been switched. He was the one in the darkness. The one desperately needing a lifeline. The one needing……… loyalty. Needing those people that benefited and so prospered from his talent to stand by his side. To even stand at his guard. And what was your choice? To pause. To step back. To wait. See how the consequences would affect you. See where the other shoe would drop. In the words of Jack Sparrow “If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it”. But you chose the cowardly approach. You chose, and still choose, to teeter atop of your fence. From those of us that have supported Mr. Depp and cheered him on from all sides, our disappointment is immeasurable. You failed your golden ticket of an actor when he needed you most. And in other words of Jack Sparrow “I am captain. No matter how difficult I will always prevail”. And prevail he has. Let’s see if the captain lets you ride his coattails to shore. I, for one, hope he lets you sink with the ship.

Prefix: DOGGYMANSION
MEMBERSHIP NUMBER: 2100105405

All enquiries welcome

How much for a puppy?

To the person who writes an email to simply ask the price.

To the person who calls and after hearing a price surprisedly states: “I can buy a cheaper puppy elsewhere”.

To the person who doesn’t care about papers because I want “just a pet”.

No puppy is “just a pet”.

Behind every pure bred dog is a BREEDER.

We are using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill.

A reputable breeder does not breed puppies without papers because that does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are records of lineage that document bloodline and allow one to research any possible health issues present in the lineage.

When you tell a Breeder you don’t care about papers what you’re really telling them is you couldn’t care less about the health of the puppy, you just want the cheapest thing you can find!

When you select to buy a puppy from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every puppy; both puppies they choose to keep themselves and every puppy they’ve sold.

This breeder, will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal house space has been turned into space for their dogs.

The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart and soul into it.

Not only in puppies that are sold, but also in each client who owns a piece of their heart and now is a member of their extended family.

This does not take into account any puppy/adult dog who might get sick or need extra help to thrive.

Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and will take one back without question.

A breeder will get their hands dirty, often covered in everything accompanied with birthing, because that’s what life is about...

In the middle of birth and death is life.

It’s the wheel that keeps turning.

A breeder will do tests, echos, xrays, analysis, emergency c sections, vaccinations, register puppies and litters, research pedigrees, deworm, as well as microchip their puppies and get them evaluated by specialists.

Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read that right.

A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they are not only making money from the sale. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a Breeder has made so they need to be confident its the right fit. Many times saying more no’s then yes...

A good Breeder will have different criteria for those wanting to carry on their bloodline, why?

Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it’s a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people willing to sacrifice.

Because a dog is never “just a pet” it’s the Breeder’s legacy, a little boy’s best friend, a little girls protector, an elderly persons therapy, a member of the family, someone’s whole world!!!
