"So everything then😜"
Yes and no.
These are everyday postures and movements, yes.
It is when they are shown and what is happening around them that is how we can figure this out.
"So this means my dog is stressed out"
This is where it gets individual, but these can be shown when a dog is experiencing some stress.

Not all stress is bad.
It's unavoidable in life.
Some dogs are very resilient and easily handle stress. Others don't.
Stress is a sneaky and insidious problem that can surface and show in ways we may not see coming.

In saying that stress is unavoidable, it doesn't mean we shouldn't limit our dogs exposure to it and look hard at eliminating it.
When we have a dog with a longer term chronic stress issue, it is crucial we look where we can to help them.

Start to notice the little things.
Even those situations we think they are "ok" in.

Are there signs they may not be enjoying it at all?

Lately, we’ve experienced a few interactions that have been unpleasant for our team. While we understand vet visits can be stressful, our staff are here to help you and your pets — not to be spoken to disrespectfully.

We will always treat you with kindness, patience, and professionalism, and we expect the same in return.

Congratulations Mortimer, Millie, Lenny & Kovu for graduating puppy preschool last night!

The cutest bunch of graduates we ever did see 🥹🎓 Huge confidence shifts for all of these four and some great social skills were built over our few weeks together!

Buster joined us for weekly Fulfilment Walks whilst his parents were away on holidays to maintain the training he started with us in his 1 on 1 sessions and to continue his reactivity training 🐾

Over our 4 sessions together Buster was able to build a bond with me as somewhat of a stranger taking him out for play, enrichment and training; began to understand what is and isn’t acceptable on his neighbourhood walks (i.e. screaming at other dogs across the road is a no go) and learnt to respond to different forms of communication in a busy park environment to lessen his dog reactivity. We had such a blast with Buster and enjoyed furthering him in his reactivity rehab!

We can’t wait to catch his family up on his progress and transfer his new learnings to their day to day with this little firecracker 💙

We get asked quite a lot about our fulfilment walks — this service is available to anyone with a dog under 6 months of age and dogs who are currently or have recently finished training with us through 1 on 1 sessions. This is to ensure all our students get the most out of training and there is consistency between what we work on in session and what you do at home.

You’ve all seen the no pull harnesses and maybe even the drama around them but truthfully no tool - not a single one, is going to train your dog for you.

AI hasn’t come that far yet as far as we’re aware..

The training is your job and the training tools are an assist. We have trained enough dogs to know very well that as clever as dogs are - their opportunistic nature and strong ability to recognise patterns allows them to work around practically any training tool if not used with the correct technique & consistency.

This is not to say you have to pay a trainer to help you - if you can educate yourself sufficiently to train your dog in the best way possible you should absolutely do this. As trainers our main job is to train you so you can take on the role of your dogs ‘trainer’ for life. After all every minute you spend with or without your dog, they are learning! With a range of tools and skills on hand your trainer should be helping you find the right training gear and methods to best suit your dog’s age, breed, personality and specific behaviour issues.

So please don’t desensitise your dog to their collar or any training tool but continuing ahead if you don’t know what to do - reach out a reputable local trainer and allow them to support you & your dog through your training journey.

Congratulations to our Scentwork Juniors for graduating tonight! We can’t believe this lot are ready for trial prep already but have no doubt these dogs could all smash through a Novice Scentwork trial tomorrow if they wanted to 😍 We ran a mock trial set up today and not a single dog went over 2.5 mins most searches cleared in 5-40 seconds even with distractions!

Well done teams for the hard work you’ve put in - we can’t wait to see you back for trial prep!!
