Today, this little pup came in for a 🩸titre test, faecal PCR, and analysis to ensure that the prevention treatments are working effectively. Some puppies and breeds, like oodles, are prone to runny, soft stools, and it's crucial to determine the cause - whether dietary, parasitic, bacterial, viral, or inflammatory.

It's getting colder with each passing day, and soon we'll be approaching the coldest months of the year. Kindly consider donating blankets and warm pet clothes for the rough sleepers and their companion animals for the upcoming winter. More details in the post below:

It is quite dark and gloomy today in Sydney, and as we move further and further into winter, it is only going to get colder. Amongst those who suffer the most when it gets really cold in Sydney are the rough sleepers of the city and their companion animals. When the temperatures go down to the single digits overnight, the homeless and their pets often have nothing to keep them warm, or any comfort to look forward to.

Project HoPe (where HoPe stands for Homeless Pets) is organising a Pop-up Clinic with Mission Australia in the coming months to provide veterinary care in terms of vaccinations, health checks and more to the pets of the homeless, to safeguard this vital bond. We would also like to donate warm blankets and pet care essentials to the owners who come to us seeking help with regard to their fur baby's health.

We would appreciate it greatly if you were able to donate warm blankets, pet clothes, or anything else that could help the homeless and their pets be more comfortable and survive this winter. Project HoPe, was launched by Southern Cross Vet's founder and Director, Dr Sam Kovac and Rabbi Mendel Kastel and Jewish House in 2012 and isn't just about treating pets' ailments; our charity is about preserving the precious bonds between the homeless and their pets. This bond is often the only thing that the homeless have left after the world seemingly has given up on them. Companion animal friends offer a reason to get up in the morning, the answer to 'why?' to stay off drugs and also offer warmth, coming into winter.

Jewish House is currently the only official pet friendly crisis centre in Sydney so that pet owning people in crisis like those at risk of homelessness due to things like domestic violence have somewhere safe to go and get the support they need, alongside their companions.

✨We're looking for a volunteer Drag Queen and photographer!⭐️

Southern Cross Vet is hosting a Mardi Gras-themed party for pets at our clinic in St Peters -- 🌈 Glitter Paws. The event is a celebration of our love for the LGBTQ community and our pets 🐾🏳️‍🌈. We need YOUR sparkle to make it extraordinary! ✨

We are also aiming to raise funds for our charity Project HoPe via the bookings for the event and also through a raffle (for the best-dressed dog) that we will be running on that day.

We are looking for a volunteer Drag Queen to pose with pets on the day and also a photographer for the event. We are currently planning to host the event on the 29th of Feb at 7 pm.

Doing one of my final BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) post-op checks of the year with this little pug cross cavalier spaniel.

He's breathing so much better, his parents have done a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 job with his recovery process at home and his brother, Winston just came along to eat my treats - his breathing is pretty good without surgery actually!

It's been a pleasure helping so many hundreds of and breathe better and I can't wait to don the surgical headlight in 2024 and perform even more quality-of-life improving surgery! 🐾 ❤️

Being a vet provides me an opportunity to do what I love — get to be around adorable little fur babies all day! Look who came to pay me a visit just a couple of days back at Bellevue Hill. It was Larry the Cavoodle!

Larry showed up with swollen eyes which was causing him a squinty eye problem. Have a speedy recovery Larry, and remember, we're always there for you when you need us!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting a very special patient, Louie. This charming furball had been experiencing some regurgitation issues, and our team is on the case to help him feel his best. 🕵️‍♂️

Stay tuned for next week when we'll be running some tests to get to the bottom of Louie's concerns and work on a tailor-made plan to bring a smile back to his face. 🐶❤️
