🫩💔Black Flying Fox Male
~Possibly suffering Flying Fox Paralysis syndrome.[ FFPS]

BUT THAT'S NOT MY ONLY STORY▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇

I was Born around 6- 8 years ago.
My mum had a live, placental birth to me after 6 months gestation and possibly in the very same colony area I was found dying.
[ Most Black Flying Foxes roost in the area they were born.]
For Mum - a female Flying fox of approximately 600 grams I would have been a big boy at around 80grams when born.
She would have cared for me, intensely, for around 3 months under her wing on her teat- Taking me Everywhere. Then when I got too heavy to fly with her at night, I would have been placed in a night- care Tree ( Crèche) with other babies for about another 3 months till I could fly myself.
[ Crèche bubs - stay with mum all day and feed and rest. Then at fly-out or dusk they are dropped off in a Crèche tree and collected by mum at sunrise when she returns from feeding herself. ]
Then when I was of juvenille age I would have been exploring and finding my own food. [ possibly around the 400grams? ]
Im a big Boy now at 6years Old
(900grams). I've been flying up to 30 kilometres a night to find the best food.
I have survived many natural and unnatural obstacles.
Natural such as, heat Events , cyclones, illness and unnatural, such as Planned area dispersals,
( fireworks and guns!) human intervention and
Domestic animal predators.
I have helped fertilise your beautiful Rain forest and Tropical Fruits of this area with seeds and some pollen on my coat.
I get blamed for many viruses - most Im not even connected with.
The viruses i am connected with are not publicly educated correctly.
Im now very sick with a illness my Rescuer friends haven't quite worked out where it originated nor how to treat.
I am a something, a soul ,not an inconvenience or pest.

* I am a vaccinated Carer. Everything is sanitised after interaction with the bats, including hands and nails.
Do not handle Bats yourself
Call a vaccinated carer.
* I also studied science not English studies so apologies for any grammatical errors .:))

🦇🖤....The Old Boys have been put in a smaller cage Temporarily!
-I need to be able to open the big door of the Release cage at night time so the 2025 Orphans can come and go. They old guys will go back into the flight cage once I stop opening the door.
These Older gentleman are taking time to Rehabilitate. They do not like to use their wings much.[ cheeky!!]
At least our weather has finally shifted into our cooler months, so the morning sun is Precious!

🖤🦇 23 JUVENILLE BLACK FLYING FOXES WERE RELEASE THIS WEEK.[ ORPHANS FROM 2025.]
5 Cheeky buggers are still hanging around a Creche cage getting snacks.
They won't take long to find their wings:)) Most took off the first night the bug door was opened.
There is a small camp that moves up and down a local creek, they have been visiting for the last month at night ,so the babies would have Known where to go.
I do put snacks out and water on the outside of a cage at the base of our hill. It's just a small amount for a while until they All get use to their surroundings.
But .....THEY ARE FREE!💔🖤🦇

- In Townsville ,the Little Red Flying Foxes have Arrived for their Annual stay of 3- 4 months or so.
Many Females are Pregnant. They will give birth here and Once the babies are strong enough to fly with them ,they will return to the Northern regions and Tablelands for the summer. Little Red Flying Foxes are Transient. They mostly feed on new blossoms and nectar.
They have a habit of settling for the short stay in different areas.
[ food related of course ]
But of course some will come back to where they already know food is close by.
Little Reds are also notorious for squishing together so close on a branch and there can be 1000s in a small area.
We need to be monitoring camps at this time not only for Orphans that have been premature or not caught during birth, but also babies who have accidently fallen off mum if she has had a scare. We also need to watch out for fallen branches that have given way with too many bats on them. Branches can fall so quickly and bats can be trapped with terrible injuries under them.
Therefore Although we haven't posted too much lately ,We have been busy!.❤️🖤🦇
