🖤🦇 BODY CREAM WASH DAY!!
🚿🛁🚿🦇🖤🚿🛁🦇🖤🚿🛁
- The Orphans need to be cleaned often especially under the arms and the wings.
Wings are skin ,so they get sweaty and babies manage to get allsorts over them. [ the black gunk on the pads is dead skin cells and grime]
They do not like water baths much, so we really only water bath them if they need a medicated bath.
Here we use a Johnson's baby cream to wipe On- then wipe off and dry. I also let them stretch out in the breeze to flap and dry between feeds. Its so hot here.
- Their Mums would be very attentive to them normally during the day as they snooze together.❤️

😍🦇🖤 2 RESCUES TODAY
- 2 Beautiful, scared little Girls . It's So very hot and humid today so zi was very happy to find these 2 Girls frantically calling.
- The first 1 ( Raven) was just out of reach ,about 2.5 metres up.
Of course My Rescue pole was in a different Rescue vehicle!
Aaaggggghhh!!!!!!
I huntered around and found a long stick and added a cloth with my hair tie.:)) Yay for long hair.

- But just out of curiosity of Flying Fox anatomy. This is a comparison of an Older, Black, Male, Flying Fox Reproductive organs compared to an Older, Little Red Flying Fox, Male.
Also, the Little Red Flying Fox only gets to between 1/2 & 3/4 the body size of a Black Flying Fox. 🤭🖤🦇🖤🦇🖤🦇🖤🦇🖤🦇🖤

🖤🦇 Rescued Today 😪
- I decided to check on a small colony today because I had a few minutes to spare. Luckily, i think i was meant to go. I first rescued an exhausted ,little girl. Betty she is very skinny, and her voice almost gone from calling. Then i found a little boy- Boss , frantically calling down an embankment, near a small creek.
They are both home now and had a fresh bath and electrolytes.🖤

We a a small group of passionate Volunteers, that Rescue 🦇 Rehabilitate 🦇& Release Flying Foxes. [[ They are Protected & Native Australian Noctural Pollinators. ]] We have a 24hour Free Rescue ph number for Sick or injured Flying foxes in the community. Our Volunteers Raise and Rehabilitate Bats from orphan premmies /newborns to Injured Adults. We rely on donations to feed these Little fighters for anywhere upto 3 months each and to also maintain our enclosures.🖤🦇Thankyou.

HAPPY SUNDAY HEAT🥵🖤
- Its been over 37°c for over 5 days now. Looks to be building to a big Wet- season.
We need to have many water drinking stations around the release cage ( drippers,dishes ...etc)
But..... Flying foxes in the wild ,drink by skim-flying down on lakes and rivers . They grab a mouth full of water while flying past. Therefore Some older bats in the release cage that are rehabilitating do not know how to look for water in the dishes. I put a slow dripping hose on top of the cage and turn it on for a while morning and evening . This way the bats can get under the mist when they want too and not only cool off but drink water off their wings .🦇🖤

🖤🦇 THE ROUTINE OF FEEDING.
- They ALL need to know they are your bubba. Even though we only feed one at a time, they each get to hold their teat and get a cuddle.That way no one cracks a wobbly and you can keep a close eye on the baby eating.😍🦇🖤

- Beautiful KASEY 🦇
85gram Little Girl. Covered in bat flies.😢
[ Bat Flies, are little blood sucking insects that dont fly but are very fast at roaming around in bat fur. They are species specific to bats. They normally live on Flying Foxes in small numbers and the Flying Fox who is healthy and well, will groom and keep them to a minimum. Babies that are covered with them have been alone for a day or 2. Adults that have way too many have been unwell for a while.]
Kasey was extremely happy to have a drink of electrolytes and a small warm bath to get the bat flies off.
