Welcome to Dogs Tasmania (TCA Inc) the organisation which administers all pure-bred canine activities in this State. These activities include shows and obedience trials, open to all breeds of dogs, and retrieving trials and field trials specifically for the Gundog breeds (Pointers, Setters, Spaniels, Retrievers & Utility Gundogs e.g Weimaraners). A number of obedience clubs also conduct Tracking T

rials, a relatively new discipline to the State. The Tasmanian Canine Association Inc is a member body of the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC), together with kindred organisations in each state/territory. The ANKC, in turn, is an associate member of the FCI - Federation Cynologique Internationale, the umbrella organisation for most of Europe, South America, most Middle Eastern countries, and the majority of African and Asian countries. The ANKC has close ties with the Kennel Club England, the American Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club. The first dog show in Australia was held in Hobart Town in 1862 and, when the two organisation in the north and south, each administering dogs in the relevant area of the state, agreed to unite, the Kennel Control Council of Tasmania came into being in 1954 as the state body and, with the implementation of a fully-elected governing Council in February, 1995, the organisation changed its name to become the Tasmanian Canine Association Inc. The Tasmanian Canine Association Inc has forty-four (44) affiliated clubs, including Agricultural Societies, with the responsibility to conduct shows and/or trials on behalf of the Association. There is a show and/or trial held somewhere in the state each weekend throughout the year.

We often get asked how to find a registered breeder. Often finding a breeder, particularly if you’re looking for a specific (not common) breed can be tricky.

Dogzonline is a great place to start. All breeders are Dogs Australia registered & they also offer a secure payment option so you can trust you’re not being scammed.

TASMANIAN CANINE ASSOCIATION INC REGISTERED BREEDERS
The Tasmanian Canine Association Inc advises that our members, who are breeders, are bound by our Code of Behaviour and Ethics that only permits a bitch to whelp 2 litters in any given 18 month period with a maximum of 6 litters in a lifetime.

In addition to these conditions first generation (father/daughter, mother/son and brother/sister) matings are not permitted and any bitch over the age of eight years must have a veterinary certificate dated prior to the mating that states that the bitch is in good health and able to whelp a litter.

Our breeders are required to quote their membership number on any advertisements for the sale of puppies. Anyone considering purchasing a puppy should contact the TCA Inc office on 6272-9443 to confirm the identity of any person advertising TCA Inc registered puppies.

It's Cracker Night tonight, and while fireworks are a lot of fun for us humans, many of our pets find them terrifying. So make sure your fences and gates are safe and secure, but even better if you can keep your pets inside with you. Put on some music or the TV to mask the sound, and remember that treats and cuddles will make them feel much better and will not reinforce the fear. Treats and cuddles are always a good thing!

Resharing this post as we have had two more people contact us with what looks like scams. Do not give over a cent without first checking the breeder prefix (you can call our office on 62729443 to confirm) AND ALWAYS do a video call to see the puppies & mother. Scammers steal photos, names, videos. Do a live video call FIRST.

***Identifying Registered Breeders***

Due to the increase in the number of people falsely claiming to be Dogs Australia Registered Breeders, we have added a new facility to our web site, to check if a breeder is a registered Dogs Australia breeder, inquirers simply enter the breeder's prefix or membership number and tick search.

Scroll down & you’ll see the
“Registered Breeder Check” - you can enter either a Prefix or Membership number.

Meet Dallas the Dalmatian! Neut. Ch. Likadyce Secret Admirer JC. Dallas is owned and loved by Deb Raeburn from Brisbane, QLD.

“Dallas is a cheeky devil but sometimes looks like an angel, do not be fooled!” 🦴

Dallas loves carrots and on Christmas Day searches the backyard for any carrots the reindeers may have dropped, plays with his presents, has a trip to the dog park and a nanny nap after a big lunch! He will be getting a special Christmas dinner and extra snuggles this Christmas.
