We’re so grateful for all the amazing memories we’ve made with the members of our pack! Over the time that we’ve been offering our services, we’ve had the immense pleasure of meeting a huge number of wonderful K9s and their caring guardians. We’ve shared so many special adventures together and have developed fantastic, trusting relationships that we’ll treasure forever.

We’ve built bonds with K9s big and small, introverted and larger-than-life, sensitive and happy-go-lucky. One thing’s for certain—K9s are their happiest when they’re free to roam and explore their external surroundings in the company of those who they love and trust. This week, we hope you and your K9s have some fabulous adventures together, whether you head off to a new and exciting location, or simply take a different route around your local neighbourhood.

It was another fun-filled week here at K9 Concierge, centred around delighting all the members of our pack and showing them a great time! We take fun very seriously and we’re always on the lookout for ways to amp up the enjoyment of our canine clients while they’re in our care. As a result, we have a few tips up our sleeves that will help to make adventuring with your K9 more fun—take a look at a selection of them below!

• Let your furry friend take the lead!
• Bring along a compatible canine friend and their guardian
• Always allow your K9 plenty of opportunities to stop and smell their surroundings
• Head to a body of water and gallop through the shallows with your furry mate!
• Inject some training into the walk for a challenge
• Switch up the terrain: take the dirt trail, walk up and down hills, and make a beeline for those concrete stairs
• Drive to somewhere you and your canine haven’t been before and discover a new environment while you walk together

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LEAH!

Here’s wishing gorgeous Leah a very happy birthday! This treasured member of our pack turns 8 today. Our guide Jess took Leah out on a fun-filled birthday adventure to celebrate this sweet girl’s milestone, complete with a birthday photo shoot! Congratulations, Leah—we hope you’ve had the best day ever!

Leah was one of the original members of our pack here at K9 Concierge, and we’re so grateful for all the memories we’ve had the pleasure of sharing with her. During our regular walking experiences with this beauty, we’ve been able to develop a strong bond, making our outings more enriching and enjoyable as time has gone by.

From exploring the shaded surrounds of Narrabeen Lagoon to dipping her paws in the water at Lakeside, rustling around in nature at Narroy Reserve and everything in between, we’ll never forget our adventures with Leah!

Spring is seriously sensational! We've had so much fun accompanying your gorgeous canines on their springtime adventures, allowing them to explore the lush environments of the Northern Beaches and Mosman and make the most of this glorious season.

The scents of spring are particularly exciting for our canine companions, as their senses of smell are anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 more acute than those of us humans! Our four-legged friends delight in learning about their environments via their super noses. Just by smelling their surroundings, they can learn who has been there before them—they develop a rich narrative about the neighbourhood's happenings through those powerful nostrils of theirs. Even more impressive: they can tell if their canine acquaintances are male or female, and whether they are sick or healthy, via their impressive noses alone!

Humans and canines often have different walking styles. We humans like to get from A to B in a linear fashion, moving quickly from our starting point to our destination. For our canines, however, the joy is in the journey. They love nothing more than to take it slow and smell all the different sensory stimuli on their outings. The next time you're out walking your K9, make sure you allow them plenty of opportunity to use those extraordinary noses of theirs!

It was a little drizzly in Fairlight yesterday, but local celebrity Mr. Sterling didn't let the showers stop him from enjoying his neighbourhood adventure. Our crew leader Simone took this silver gentleman along Fairlight Walk where he enjoyed the attention of the locals, as always, and soaked in the sights, smells and sounds of the area.

Sterling is much more comfortable walking in the less-than-favourable weather when he's dressed in his raincoat. Raincoats can offer a host of benefits for their canine wearers, including keeping them warm and snuggly when it's damp and cold; sheltering them from the wind when it's blowing a gale; and even helping them to feel secure in situations where they feel anxious.

The big and the small, the outgoing and the lone wolves, the balls of energy and the chillers… we love them all here at K9 Concierge!

One of the smallest, fluffiest and sweetest members of our pack is Mr. Willow of Mosman. We’ve loved taking him on frequent walking experiences around his local neighbourhood for some time now, and he holds a very special place in the hearts of our crew.

Today, our lovely guide Sarah took Willow for a leisurely adventure to the green expanses of Rosherville Reserve in Sydney’s Middle Harbour. This canine-friendly park is shaded and lush, with plenty of space for our four-legged friends to explore, sniff to their heart’s content, and stretch their legs. Willow had a great time wandering around the reserve, and once the adventure was complete, Sarah delivered him safely back home in one of our K9C mobiles.

Today, we're sending a big shoutout to our awesome crew member, Sarah! We're super grateful for all your hard work to date, Sarah. You are so valued by our team and the members of our pack.

Sarah has had many years worth of experience in working with K9s. She's always loved dogs and admires the way that they love unconditionally, putting so much trust in humans and never judging us. Sarah's many canine-centric qualifications include a Certificate II in Animal Care, Safe Handling and Transport of Dogs and Cats, and a Certificate III in Captive Animals.

In addition to her love of canines, Sarah is fascinated by invertebrates. She also loves birdwatching and is incredibly interested in Australian native wildlife. Sarah is a true animal lover, and it shines through in her wonderful work with the K9 Concierge crew.

Beautiful Raffles has an infectious smile—whenever we’re with her, we can’t help but to be jovial too!

K9s have evolved to ‘smile’ frequently at humans. Our furry companions know how to make us happy, and flashing that dazzling smile of theirs is one of the best ways! When our canines smile, we humans reward them by smiling back, praising them, and speaking in approving tones. This encourages them to make joyful facial expressions more often.

Genetically speaking, the canine smile may come from neoteny. Neoteny is a term that describes the retention of some juvenile features when an animal matures into adulthood.

Although canines don’t really mimic the smiles of us humans, they may be triggered to smile when they see us smiling, similar to how laughter can be contagious. Seeing a canine smile certainly makes us grin from ear to ear!

Siblings Star and Cino know how to start the week off on the right paw! Here are a few snaps from their adventure around the glorious expanses of Narabeen Lagoon, taken by their wonderful guide Sarah.

The duo found happiness in discovering the many scents, sights and sounds of the area. Sarah ensured that the pair journeyed on the shadiest path possible, and lots of hydration breaks were taken to keep these gorgeous pups safe, cool and comfortable.

It’s going to be another hot one in Sydney tomorrow, so be sure to keep your K9s cool and always see to it that their fluids remain topped up. Always try to exercise your pups during the cooler times of the day, and allow them to rest in a cool place when the temperatures peak.

Georgia is truly passionate about the wellbeing of our four-legged companions, and she loves building trusting relationships with those in her care. With a background in grooming, Georgia is experienced in caring for all kinds of canines. Georgia's patient and caring nature enables her to connect with even the most sensitive of K9s, allowing them to relax and enjoy their outings.

Thank you, Georgia, for always putting in 110% for the members of our pack. We really appreciate your hard work and dedication to the wellbeing of our furry friends.

🧡 THE KIDS 🧡

We’ve had SO many unforgettable adventures with these gorgeous pups: Harley Rose, Oscar and Reggie. Their beautiful feline sister Ash must also be mentioned here, for fairness’ sake. She guards the fort while her canine siblings are out galavanting around the Northern Beaches.

The Kids hold a super special place in the hearts of the K9C Crew. Over the time that we’ve had the pleasure of taking care of them, we’ve created countless memories together. We’ve loved taking this trio down to the lagoon, where they’ve pranced around in the shallows, made friends and rolled about in the sand; we’ve accompanied them to the foreshore, where they’ve inhaled the salty sea air and strolled along the boardwalk; and we’ve made many a trip to the grassy green expanses of a diverse range of parks. These three sure know how to live life to the fullest, and we’re so grateful to have joined them on many of their recent adventures!

Though walking around the local neighbourhood is an excellent way for your canine to stay fit, exploring territories outside of their usual domain is a fabulous way to take the mental stimulation of an outing even further. We hope that you’ve been making some memories with your beloved K9s this weekend!

Adventuring with gorgeous siblings Kaia and Kona is always a blast. Yesterday, our crew member Oscar took this dynamic duo down to Burnt Bridge Creek, where they enjoyed drawing in the many scents, sights and sounds of the area. ⁠

Burnt Bridge Creek, running between Seaforth and North Balgowlah, flows into Manly Lagoon. The surrounding bushland is called Burnt Bridge Creek Bushland Reserve, and it serves as an important natural habitat for a diverse population of native wildlife. This riparian corridor connects the coast and inland natural areas, and many species utilise it when travelling from zone to zone. It is crucial to note that K9s must be on lead when visiting this area, and canine guardians must ensure that those in their care keep a safe distance from any wildlife. ⁠As you would when attending any other adventure location, always be on the lookout for potential dangers such as illegal baiting when visiting bushland.

Shoutout to the incredible Amaan!

Our talented team member is one in a million, and she has a phenomenal ability to connect with the diverse members of our pack. In her work, she ensures that those in her care feel comfortable and at ease by allowing them to let their guard down and relax. When they’re with Amaan, K9s let their playfulness shine, leaving their tension and worries behind as they explore their adventure locations.

Prior to joining us here at K9 Concierge, Amaan worked with horses for a decade. She learnt a great deal in her equine career, and she has carried her skills and knowledge in excellent animal care over to her work at K9C.

In addition to being passionate about our four-legged companions, all of our guides love the outdoors and have a variety of great natural Northern Beaches destinations up their sleeves.

Of her favourite adventure location, Amaan remarks, “My favourite walking destination would be up to the lighthouse at Palm Beach. I love being able to explore and find nice spots to sit along the rocks.”

🧡 PEGGY & ARCHIE 🧡

This adorable pair of K9 siblings are a joy to spend time with. Peggy, the Boxer pup, is now 5 months old, and she’s growing into a super lanky, confident young lady! Her brother-from-another-mother, Archie, is nearly ten and is a distinguished gentleman. He patiently puts up with Peggy’s youthful antics, and the two are developing a close bond.

Sibling outings are a great way for canine kinfolk to strengthen their relationships with one another. When they’re exploring an environment that is outside of the home, they’re surrounded by engaging stimuli that can help to deter play fighting, which can become quite exhausting for the less dominant of a canine duo. While roaming around in an exciting adventure location, a pair of canines are sharing an enriching experience. The sights, smells and sounds all provide each K9 with mental stimulation, while the physical activity offers a workout for their bodies. By exploring in the company of one another, as well as being gently led by one of our skilled guides, the siblings are afforded a wellbeing-boosting dose of social enrichment as well.

Along with her important work behind the scenes, Jess excels at her role as a K9C Guide, looking after the furry members of our pack with exceptional attention to detail, care and compassion. Her enthusiasm for her work is inspiring, and she's always ready to make the days of the K9s in her care.

Please join us in welcoming the wonderful Oscar to our crew! We’re super grateful to have you on board, Oscar—you really have a special way of connecting with the furry members of our pack.

Having grown up with furry family members since he was little, Oscar has loved developing close bonds with canines for as long as he can remember. In his own family, Oscar has two four-legged siblings: Florence the Maremma and Henry, who is an Old English Sheepdog.

Oscar delights in getting to know K9s of all shapes, sizes and breeds. He particularly enjoys hanging out with high-energy individuals such as Kelpies and Border Collies as they’re always keen to play rounds of fetch.

In Oscar’s spare time, you’ll find him swimming and running, as well as body surfing and body boarding in the magnificent oceanic surrounds of the Northern Beaches.

🧡 INDIE & KOSI 🧡

Sibling relationships can be seriously special, and we just love to take canine kinfolk out on shared adventures. On their tailored outings together, K9 siblings are given the opportunity to explore new and familiar locations with their furry sidekicks, chaperoned by one of our wonderful crew members.

Manly Lagoon Park is a fabulous location for canine adventures, boasting a 24 hour dog/friendly beach and off-leash zone. It’s a sheltered space, with lush greenery and plenty of shade, complete with a playground and picnic area. It’s favoured by locals and you’re bound to run into lots of friendly canines and their families at this bustling spot.

Siblings Indie and Kosi love their escapades at Manly Lagoon Park, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see them enjoying their time in the great outdoors together.

That fresh-out-of-the-ocean feeling is hard to beat! We feel like a million bucks when we emerge from a plunge in the sea, and we have a strong inkling that our canine companions feel the same way.

Did you know that doctors used to prescribe seaside visits in the 18th and 19th centuries as a treatment for ill health? The ocean can have some incredible effects on us, including improving some skin conditions, and aiding our mental health. Though the ocean temperatures here in Sydney are generally warmer than those of Melbourne, our waters can be chilly! And that’s actually a good thing when it comes to the ocean’s healing properties.

The evidence to support the health benefits of cold water immersion is growing, and there’s good reason to believe that it has the power to relieve stress and improve mental wellbeing. When our K9s take a dip in the water at the beach, there’s a high chance that they also feel fantastic as a result.

It can be tricky to visit the ocean with your canine companion, particularly during the work week. What a fantastic way to end another fun-filled week with your K9s, here on the Northern Beaches and in the suburb of Mosman. We’ve had the immense pleasure of seeing so many of our pack this week, and we’re gearing up for another busy week ahead.

In this image, our wonderful guide Sarah and local Manly celebrity Sterling the Grey enjoy an embrace while out on one of their local walking adventures along the foreshore. For those K9s who love to cuddle, we’re always more than happy to give those snuggles right back in return.

Enjoy your Saturday ahead. It’s going to be another hot one, so be sure to have fluids on hand for your K9 at all times, avoid hot walking surfaces (sticking to the grass is safest), and always be on the lookout for signs of heat stress. Remember - if your K9 is in need of cooling down, they don’t sweat through the skin as we humans do, rather they cool down via their paws as well as using panting to regulate their temperature. Cool them down by having them stand in some cool water, always keep their fluids up, and exercise during the cooler times of the day.

Be safe out there today and enjoy some glorious weekend time with your furry companion!

Recently there has been a noticeable increase in Parvovirus in Sydney.

Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease that primarily affects dogs, especially puppies. Parvovirus causes severe gastrointestinal illness and can be easily transmitted through contact with infected dogs, contaminated objects, or even the environment.

To protect your pets, here are some crucial steps you can take:

Vaccination: Ensure your dogs are up-to-date with their vaccinations. If you're unsure about their vaccination status, consult your veterinarian.

Hygiene: Practice good hygiene by regularly cleaning your pet's living area, toys, and food/water dishes. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling other dogs.

Isolation: If your dog shows any symptoms of Parvo (vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy), isolate them from other dogs immediately and seek veterinary care.

Remember, early detection and prompt treatment can greatly increase the chances of your furry friend recovering from Parvo.

🧡 KIMMY 🧡Meet this gorgeous, bouncy bundle of joy: Kimmy the vivacious Staffy pup! Our crew is really enjoying getting to know her and her adorable, mischievous ways. Puppyhood is such a special time, but there’s no denying that it can be a challenging period for K9 guardians! Like toddlers, puppies require a lot of stimulation and interaction. If left to their own devices for too long, they’ll attempt to make their own fun, and that could mean ripping apart your entire shoe collection.We’re very enthusiastic about puppy visits here at K9 Concierge. They’re filled with playtime, enrichment activities, and lots of cuddles and TLC. Each puppy visit is tailored to the individual youngster, and features a mix of age-appropriate activities that are designed to provide mental, physical and social stimulation and learning opportunities.Watching the canine members of our pack grow into thriving and well-balanced adults is very special. If you are the guardian of a pup and you need some loving assistance while you can’t be there with them, please reach out to us. It’s heating up again tomorrow in Sydney! As the guardians of canines, we must be super vigilant when it comes to keeping our furry pals safe in the sweltering weather. Unlike us humans, our canine companions don’t sweat through their skin to cool down. Did you know that K9s cool themselves down by sweating through their paws, as well as panting? 💦💧Quick and important tip: cool your canine down by having them stand in a cool body of water. This will help to lower their body temperature. Wrapping their feet in cool washcloths, letting them wade in the shallows of a shaded lagoon, or using a plastic seashell filled with cool water as a wading pool works wonders to cool your furry companion as the temperatures rise. Be safe out there as the weather heats up tomorrow! Make sure to always have water on hand for your canine, and never let them walk on hot surfaces with their bare paws. Hydrotherapy for Sylas 💙💦 K9C Pack member Sylas recently had a hydrotherapy session with the brilliant Madi at @paddlingpawshydrotherapy. Sylas underwent a couple of surgeries a few years ago, and hydrotherapy sessions have been instrumental in helping his leg muscles to regain their strength. During the session, Madi massaged Sylas, determining where the tension was in his body in order to effectively provide him with relief. Sylas loved his treatment and was super happy to be fed delicious treats while walking in the warm water. Hydrotherapy, meaning ‘water therapy’, is a fantastic rehabilitative and preventative activity for canines. It can help to build muscle mass, improve cardiovascular health, aid in post-surgical recovery, promote weight loss, and reduce inflammation. It’s particularly beneficial for senior canines, as it offers a gentle and enjoyable form of exercise that can help to promote fitness and strength without having a harsh impact on their joints. We provide a chauffeur service here at K9 Concierge, and can accompany your furry companion to their many appointments, including those for hydrotherapy. 🧡 Meet Peggy! 🧡 Here are 5 essential facts about this bouncy bundle of joy: 1️⃣ She’s the sister of Archie, the gorgeous 9-year-old Cavoodle 2️⃣ She has insect allergies 🤧 3️⃣ She takes great pleasure in nibbling Archie, much to his horror 4️⃣ She’s only three months old 🥹 5️⃣ She has stolen our hearts ❤️ Home visits with Peggy and Archie are always a treat. The two are remarkably different and we cater to both K9s’ individual requirements during their services. As Peggy is still at the age where she eats a meal at midday, we serve her lunch while treating Archie to a dental chew. When we make our way outdoors for some playtime, Peggy plays fetch with the puppy-sized tennis ball while Archie enjoys lots of pats in between being chased around by his young sis.
