From the 17th of October Dr Sophia will be focussing on research, she will be attending the European College of Equine Internal Medicine Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰 and Cornell University in New York, America 🇺🇸

During this time Dr Sophia will be able to offer scheduled Telehealth consults to current clients and horses that she has consulted with already in person 🌟

Beautiful Miss Teena has handed in her winter urine sample for the setaria study 😻🫶🌱

If your horse is on setaria please get in contact! We need your help - and your horses wee!!

We need urine samples from horses on setaria every season for 12 months.

Winter samples close the end of this august/september.

I recommend getting a clean jar, sterilising with boiling water, then taping it to a long stick so you can reach to get a sample of urine when they urinate. We want to get urine as she is urinating not when it has touched the ground.

Can take some time!

I would really really appreciate a sample from your horses by the end of august, every piece of information helps 🌟🙏

This week I was fortunate enough to present two research presentations at Bain Fallon down in the Hunter Valley 🐎

Bain Fallon is the largest equine veterinary conference in the southern hemisphere, the perfect platform to share my findings with other equine veterinarians to help horses in the future.

From these clinical cases further investigations can now take place! I will be conducting more research in these areas - watch this space I will be needing help from my great clients in the northern rivers to collect more data!

More information will be coming soon on how you and your horse can be apart of an exciting new study that will help the Northern River’s horse population 🌟🐎

En route to Bain Fallon, the largest Equine Veterinary Conference in the Southern Hemisphere 👩‍⚕️🐎

Very excited to be asked to present my latest research at such an event! 🌟

Thank you to the lovely clients and their horses that allowed this research to be discovered and investigated.

Sometimes this was due to unfortunate circumstances, which was very sad. But this new knowledge will help to protect the health and wellbeing of other horses 🩵

Right now is a fantastic time to be sowing seeds for delicious winter grasses!

My pick is a mix of Rye Grass and White Clover 🍀

These grasses and legumes love wet soil and cold temperatures 🌟

Super nutritious to help keep condition on over winter and allow horses to have a break from oxalate rich tropical grasses!

🏜 Hanging out with the incredible Mules of the Grand Canyon 🏜 These guys are just incredible! Absolute machines! So brave and grounded - not a single spook in them! Which is super important in these dangerous environments! They know their job and they get it done! Mules are still the only possible mode of transportation in many wild and untamed environments like The Grand Canyon
