Last night Wilson gained another qualifier in Novice Scent Work, this time for vehicles. We have one more trial this yeas, and fingers crossed he just might get his Novice elements title before we wrap up.

The last couple of scentwork trials have been a challenge.
We've moved up to Advance level in which we have to find two odours per search area.
The first trial was an interior, very hot room, no open windows but an open door. I'm still not sure on how odour moves but I had the idea from how Wilson was reacting that it was certainly confusing him.
Unfortunately I panicked and called the second odour too early.
We then had a second go at Interiors on the weekend and I tried to stay calm and not rush...we made it through. Only we missed the containers search....Once again I rushed.
This is quite the challenge, but I'm enjoying it😁

He simply amazes me. That nose is incredible and he love scentwork sooo much. You can see it in his face when he finds it.
Happy dance!

We drove 8hrs down to NSW because I wanted to do a mini road trip and are now headed back home with 1st Place in the NW1...

We drove 8hrs down to NSW because I wanted to do a mini road trip and are now headed back home with 1st Place in the NW1 Plus.

From the K9 Conservation Camp to todays events I've had the most amazing week with my dogs, I cannot be happier.

Yesterday was our last day at the K9 Conservation Camp. I don't think Wilson wanted to stop and he'll miss the group 'mayhem' walk in the mornings.
I'll admit I felt very overwhelmed by the amount of super smart and very experienced people who attended.
But at the same time completely welcomed by each and every one of them.
They were simply amazing ❤️
It was a wonderful week of learning and hosts James and Ella we a wealth of knowledge.
I cannot thank them enough.

Today Wson gained another qualification, this time a Novice Interior. He walked straight to the back of the area and then proceeded work up the left side. Stopping and hovering around a step stool on the search area. He did a quick alert but nothing definite so it tried to move him on. He came back to it another two times before I called Alert.

I didn't realise but the judge told I put my hand in the treat pouch on his first alert, that was why he was giving me a quick flick of the head and not a longer passive alert.

Meet Wilson, Blackhills Son of William to be precise. Since Feb this year he has passed his ORT, qualified in ANKC Novice exterior, containers, and vehicles in April, and just this week another ANKC containers.
He loves scent work and I'm finding it a refreshing change from other dog sports I have done in the past.
