3. Gentle Introductions 🐶 – Introduce them to new pets or family members slowly to avoid overwhelming them.
4. Regular Vet Check-ups 🩺 – Ensure they’re healthy and manage any age-related issues early on.
5. Patience is Key 💕 – Give them time to adjust to their new environment and new family.

Happy Cook for Your Pets Day! 🍽️ Share your favorite homemade pet treats with us in the comments! Here’s one of our favourites.

PUPCAKES
• 2 ripe bananas (150g/5oz after peeling, ~2/3 cup mashed)
• 1/2 cup peanut butter, smooth or creamy (make sure it doesn’t contain Xylitol, as it’s toxic to dogs)
• 1/3 cup honey
• 2 eggs
• 1 1/2 cups flour, all purpose/plain OR wholewheat
• 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1/4 cup oil (vegetable, canola, peanut, or olive oil)
• 3/4 cup water

FLUFFY DOG-FRIENDLY “FROSTING”
• 500g / 1lb potatoes, peeled and cut into 2 cm/1” pieces
• 2 tbsp honey
• 1/2 cup yogurt (plain, unsweetened) OR sour cream
• 2 - 4 tbsp water
• 12 small dog bone biscuits (optional, for decorating)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F (160°C fan). Line a 12-hole muffin tin with cupcake liners.
2. Mash bananas until smooth. Add peanut butter, honey, and eggs. Whisk well until smooth.
3. Add flour, baking powder, oil, and water. Whisk until smooth.
4. Divide between cupcake liners until 3/4 full. Bake for 22 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Let cool for 30 minutes before frosting.

Frosting

1. Boil potatoes until soft (about 20 minutes). Drain, then mash with yogurt, honey, and water until smooth and creamy.
2. Pipe onto cooled pupcakes and top with a dog biscuit for decoration!

***Remember, always check the peanut butter label to make sure it’s free of Xylitol to keep your pup safe!
