Fun fact about myself: Chevelle, the owner, and the therapist.

All of my dogs have complete raw nutrition, nutraceutical supplements, half have myo-therapy and conditioning exercises, and all are suited to each of their specific needs.

3 have severe musculo-skeletal issues.
1 has Border Collie Collapse
1 has Lymphoma
4 are physically well at present
Total of 9 canines.

Because of my location and lack of availability of the full service I require. Not to mention that 6 of those are unhumanized Dingoes, so only I can touch them. I studied and became certified in each area to be able to give them the very best!
Sometimes we just have to become who they need so they have the very best of everything.

🐕‍🦺Dog owners are being warned some parasites are becoming resistant to de-worming treatments .🪱

A new study from the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney, found 70 percent of hookworm samples had mutated to resist benzimidazole-based drugs.

University of Queensland's Dr Swaid Abdullah says over-prescription of treatments may be a major factor in their resistance.

"They live in the intestines of the dog. Because they suck blood, they can cause anemia, diarrhoea and malnutrition in these dogs," Dr Adbullah said.

👉 "The larvae of these worms can creep under the skin of humans, and cause blisters and serious itching in humans."

So, I'd like to briefly touch on the bird flu virus.
What I and most others are recommending for Australia is to cook your poultry and eggs and give no egg shells until the country is cleared of the virus. This is as a precaution.

We do have multiple current outbreaks of H7 viruses, Australia has no current cases of the H5N1, which is the highest risk to other species of animals. They theorise that we will have cases once the migration to Australia starts late summer early spring for some wild birds. If this happens, I will readdress the subject then.

However, outside and barn cats are high risk of any bird viruses, so keep indoors where possible. Or get them checked asap if showing any signs.

🐦Know the signs and symptoms in birds, pets, and yourself.
🐦Keep your pets away from poultry and wild birds and faeces.
🐦Wash your hands regularly.
🐦 cook poultry.
🐦 cook eggs.
🐦 give no shells to pets.
🐦 Report when necessary.

CONSERVATIVE MANAGEMENT

Sometimes, operations aren't an option, and that is where conservative management approaches come in.

I have seen some "professionals" publically say, "Conservative management is just delaying the inevitable operation," "its less finacially accessible," or "an animals should be PTS without the op,"

But...

I say that's just unrealistic financial pressure and guilt on pet owners, which is manipulative and incongruent with what animal care actually is, especially when there ARE other options!
Conservative management also empowers the owner, and if a human is empowered, then so is a dog!
There are a plethora of studies proving the validity of the influence of human emotion on dogs, and it goes both ways.

Confidence plays a huge role in successful therapy approaches, especially physical therapy, and for senior dogs!

I am one of few Canine body workers who are also certified in community service support (for humans), so I do understand the impacts on society and health for humans and the repercussions for the animals.

Back on topic....

A good conservative management therapist and complementary therapist will want to see your dog regularly at first, and then once the best protocol is established to suit YOUR dog, such as effective nutritional supplement program, effective muscle manipulation techniques for your dog, physical and movement therapy program, then the owner can be taught the basics and continue to do at home, and reduce the sessions with the therapist if they would like to.

Starting 2025 right with Travis, a darling yellow lab who is a retired Medical Service Dog.

He was originally a rescue dog and trained super hard to support his mum.

He always has a big smile and always asks for snacks, not pats 🤣 and he loves to get my dogs barking 🤣

His motto is, "I'm retired, I do what I want when I'm with my snack dealer." 😅
He is using my services for conservative management for suspected bilateral CCL issues and confirmed hip dysplasia. And his therapy is coming along amazingly.

He has been receiving MyoTherapy to release his tight muscles and promote blood flow and detoxing increasing the bodies healing ability, Conditioning techniques to strengthen his hind and atrophied muscles, red light / near infrared therapy to reduce pain and increase collagen production to the joints, and he just started having Gua Sha! Which draws blood and oxygen to muscles' fascia and skin as he does struggle tolerating pokey fingers around his hip joints, which is quite normal for dogs with HD.

Happy New Year all!

I hope you all have a wonderful night, and dogs, cats, and pets have stayed safe from fireworks.

2025 will bring a few new changes, some new amazing products, new classes, and a course or two. So keep an eye out for that!

When it's hot outside, I opt for Cryotherapy, aka cold therapy on acute and chronic injury and condition sites.

I often use a light hand-held tool that lives in the fridge and stays at a balanced cool temperature when placed on a warm surface for the time it's required and penetrates deeply. Usually required for 5 mins, However, after removing it, it cools itself down again and can be reused, as cold therapy is a method with structured usage, and must be used properly for best outcomes.

Healthy blood vessels are already dilated in hot weather to allow for cooling of the dog.
Cold application slowly constricts capillaries to a more regular size and temperature, which allows for the reduction of swelling and pain and reduces blood flow to damaged muscle fibres.

The red light (RLT) or near infrared lights (NIR) are warming and increase blood flow and dilate the blood vessels, so they are perfect when it's cooler weather or chronic conditions.

In saying that, every dog also has a preference!
Sometimes they like both!

You can see in the image that Sophie is quite relaxed with cold therapy on her elbow arthritis. She also enjoys her RLT and NIR in the cooler months.

If a dog doesn't like the method, there are numerous signs I watch for, so I am always present and aware of their communication during every session. Understanding canine communication is super important for Canine Complementary Therapies.

The Bovine kidney stones...
Bore water can sometimes cause a build-up of minerals. Some just can't rid them. Cattle can quite often tolerate stones quite well without pain or discomfort.

I didn't feed out this kidney out as a personal preference, but of course, I thought you all might like to know what to look out for in organ meats!

Goat meat isn't ment to be fatty... This fella clearly missed the memo...

This was Xmas lunch for 11 canines, 5 working breeds and 6 Dingoes... which will actually last them a month as I rotate proteins.

Being a Carnivore Nutritionist that butchers for thier dogs, it really give me a thorough understanding of the muscles fornthe Myo-Therapy side...

Does your MyoTherapist massage blind or have they done the full body research like myself?

Can anyone spot the lymph node ???

If the lymph nodes aren't healthy the animal isn't feed appropriate.

Lymphatic system is responsible for cleansing toxins from the body, its also houses white cells (lymphocytes) that are transported and reproduced, they are a part of the immune system and fight disease and infection.

My darling Banjo Dingo who is 12, has Lymphoma, he likely won't make his next birthday, but we live in hope that it doesnt keep progressing so quickly once the flowers near by bu**er off as he has so many airborn allergies. Thus why I've been quiet over Xmas. He is absolutely loving the Goat. I presume he ate it when he was a wee pup.
The extremly high fat content isn't so great long term for the Dingoes, but because it's not cooked it's fine in moderation and what's know as balancing over time. Fats are the idea source of energy for working and sporting breeds.

So only a few know this is it has been an in-house secret, I also do a little bit of dog grooming for my current clients.

I actually began grooming at the age of 10, which is over 30 years ago now. (probably actually much younger as I also groomed my show guinea pigs as a kid to).
I'm the youngest daughter of 40 year dog grooming and showing veteran and now retired from the southeast suburbs of Melb, Mrs Barbara Williams ex Nivek Kennels.

I began with grooming our wire-hired fox terriers. My parents would show and breed and I helped out in the salon my mum had in our backyard!

So, it was inevitable I would eventually fall back to it somewhere along the line, under the guidance of Barbara still, of course, I groom a small list of clients.

Here are two of my favourites (which honestly they are all my favourites), Barney and Stormy, 2 absolutely superb show and companion line, farm loving border collies today after their Christmas wash and blowout and all Ready for presents!!!

Because when you get the pictures of them doing christmas wishes on their very first christmas in their forever home, with their perfect people, knowing they nearly lost their life, is one of the BEST feelings in the world!!!

Was looking for recommendations on green lipped mussel products and collagen products for Conservative management for Cranial Crutiate Ligament Injury.

I'd be looking at beef collagen, not marine. Marine is ideal for skin, whereas beef is better for bones as type 2 collagen is more prevalent in bone and for bone and joints.
Beef Collagen peptides, if hydrolysed, can also be OK with dogs with beef sensitivities.
If you add a little MSM with it, it can become even better, and Vit C can also be a great blend, all highly complementary of each other.

For mussels, if you can access Australian Blue Mussels, that would be better again. But green lip is still amazing!
Whole mussels are actually better than powder and more thoroughly bioavailable and digested, so if you can get whole freeze or air dried, it'd be the way to go. But the one you have looks ok too.

💛 Leave water in shaded areas as far from the household as you can for larger wildlife, snakes, lizards, bugs, birds, bees, etc.

💗 Allow inside dogs to go outside and get warmer to come back in to be cool again.

❤️ Check your neighbours' outdoor pets and livestock to ensure they have water and shade.

💛 Make sure livestock and poultry have fresh water and a shaded area to use if they wish to.

🤎 Check on your elderly neighbours, in case they are struggling without cooling.
