An update on Chuck. Thankyou for all of your shares trying to find Chuck's owners. Hes in good hands. Cheers, Sharon

UPDATE: Chuck's owners were unable to be identified. Chuck required extensive eye surgery and was unable to be made available for adoption without first receiving this surgery and spending time in Foster Care to recover. We are so thankful that a wonderful dog rescue group has taken on Chuck to provide him with the medical and foster care this dear boy needs 🧡🩶
Is this your boy???? He was found on Station Street in Kangaroo Flat last week.
According to his microchip, his name is Chuck, and he is about 6 and a half years old.
Unfortunately, Chuck's microchip doesn't tell us who his current owner is, and we really want to get Chuck home to his family!
If Chuck belong to you, or if you think you know who he belongs to, please be in touch!

If you are looking for a lost pet, be sure to have your pet's microchip details up to date and check our website daily www.bendigoanimalreliefcentre.com.au/lost-pet-information

Technology is so cool. We see many pets with chronic ear infections. Is your cat or dog going through this? The constant head shaking. The discharge. The smell. The constant ear scratching. Round after round of ear cleaning and antibiotics not having the desired effect? Bendigo Animal Hospital thanks for sharing. Cheers, Sharon

Hello folks with human kids, are you able to assist? Anthrozoology Research Group

Are you the parent or guardian of any children between the ages of 5- and 13-years? Does your child help look after a pet? If so, we want to hear from you!

Researchers from La Trobe University are looking for participants to take part in online focus groups exploring their children’s relationship and interactions with a family pet. In particular, we are interested in hearing from families who have a cat, small mammal (e.g., rabbit or guinea pig), fish, bird, or reptile.

If you are interested in participating, please contact the student researcher, Ms Deanna Tepper, for more information on dates and times: [email protected]

Up for fostering a little cutie?

UPDATE: We have found a foster home for little Eddy ❤

✨EDDY✨

We are looking for a foster home for little Eddy.
He is 4 to 6 months of age and is a Jack Russell Shih Tzu mix. He has been vaccination, wormed and microchipped.

He:
🐾Is lovable, affectionate and aims to please
🐾loves being outside and playing with his ball but on the same note he loves to look out a window at the world passing by
🐾Has already started to be crate trained. Still whimpers a little at first but falls asleep very quickly and sleeps through the night
🐾Has started toilet training and no accidents yet!
🐾Has adapted well to walking on a lead and harness

Unfortunately, the owners of Eddy (before he went to the pound) dyed his hair red and a little still remains in his coat.

If you believe you have what it takes to foster little Eddy, please send an email to [email protected] and we will get in contact with you ❤

02/06/2024

Resource guarding is when a dog reacts to protect a valuable item from being taken away or shared. Some common items that dogs may consider valuable include food, toys, space and people. While this type of behaviour is a natural and normal one for dogs it can become problematic, even dangerous, if the dog is willing to fight/bite to keep the item.
An example of some of the warning signs a dog might display when guarding a resource include:
• Stiffening their body over the resource, freezing or slow body movements;
• Intense staring and/or wide eyes (known as “whale eyes”);
• Deep or low growls, baring their teeth, lunging at the threat, air biting;
• Body blocking/positioning between the threat and the resource;
• Actual biting (generally if other warning signs have been ignored.)
To prevent resource guarding it is important to begin training early. This will teach your dog that giving up an item can be rewarding. The use of positive reinforcement, such as praise or treats, if your dog drops or leaves an item when asked, will help teach them the preferred behaviour. The use of negative reinforcement, such as punishing or scolding the dog for the guarding behaviour, can make them fearful and defensive and we do not recommend this.
If your dog is already showing signs of resource guarding consultation with a qualified, positive trainer is recommended. They can help you modify the behaviour using safe and humane methods. If you are Bendigo based and would like the name of a reputable, science-based trainer who is reward focused, please call us on 1300 427 382 and we will be happy to refer you.
As always, please keep a close eye on children around your dog. It is important that children know once they give a treat or food to a dog, that they should be left alone to enjoy it.

Ok, it's a cold, windy Sunday off, and I'm spending too much time indoors with the heater on, with Facebook.

Hahahaha still laughing. 🤣 . Like there isn't enough madness in the world.

With the winter aches and pains our outside experience, coukd be a good time to give Una Pawsitive Healing a call.
