No matter what your personal thoughts, New Year's Eve Fireworks are still ongoing in many capital cities across Australia - & their pets will still know, & still hear, & still SENSE...
*This post is to raise awareness of pets' safety !!!*

FB is being selective about feeds. And this is NOT about Bengal Rescue but about the safety of ALL pets!!!

In past years, this previous Reminder/post has been repeated:
https://www.facebook.com/BengalRescueAustralia/posts/2526794340682296
& has been posted wth the Hope that our beloved pets remain safe [Sadly, it's normally in the first 3 weeks of January, Bengal Rescue gets sent an abundance of PM's asking for assistance re missing pets, so can only continue to hope to raise awareness - importantly, animals SENSE a heightened state of "celebration", activity, preparations & soforth - a good few days before it actually happens! For instance, when people are planning to go away, & when the actual date of going away - or celebrating occurs - unless they have been kept indoors a good couple of days before, it's too late to potentially keep them indoors the night of the fireworks etc - they have already gone AWOL !]
So, PLEASE, although there is national anxiety everywhere re fires & the extreme conditions, PLEASE think ahead...
It's often said "In Hindsight..." but this phrase would be less often used, if "In Foresight..." was perhaps more current...
*This New Year's Post has been slightly altered from what has previously been posted in the above link.*
Deep awareness & gratitude & support sent to so many at this time.
May 2020 bring more people together.
May 2020 be a year where there is Strength in numbers to support caring & loving change & Awareness of all that we & others go through.
May 2020 be a year of Empathy.
There is Strength in numbers from caring, aware spirits :)
*THANK YOU TO ALL FOR THE AMAZING SUPPORT THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO BENGAL RESCUE AUSTRALIA OVER 2019 !!!!! *
With Hope,
~ Alison (BR Admin) XOX

UPDATE & CALL-OUT FOR HOMES OF EXCELLENCE:

*MY BENGALS ARE CURRENTLY LOCATED IN QLD NEAR BRISBANE*

For several years, I have not updated this page due to overwhelming Rescue commitments as National Coordinator of Bengal Rescue Australia.
At this time, for those that have been a part of the Runamok extended family, you may have seen some of my very top & prized breeding Bengals within the pedigrees.
No mating was ever done haphazardly.
There was always a firm plan & vision.
Every single pedigree was gone through with a fine tooth comb in order to ensure compatible matings - that were free of HCM, that would further whited underbellies, horizontal flow, small ears, angulation of hocks that were muscular, & be exceptional for my personal breeding goals.
Pattern genetics, pigment genetics, & structural genetics were all carefully considered before any mating.
For those who would see their precious feline family members, harking down from CH Runamok Kayin, he is now available as a desexed ex-stud with his companion, his desexed daughter Runamok Jewel Of The Orient, to a forever home.
Similarly:
Sapphire GC Runamok Rite Of Passage is to be desexed & needing a forever home.
Runamok En Route To Marrakesh is to be desexed & needing a forever loving home. Tiny rounded ears which were one of the ambitions of my breeding program.
Runamok Scyllan Myth is to be desexed & needing a forever loving home.
Runamok Graphite Imprince is to be desexed & needing a forever loving home.

Genetics included in above - have been pattern & rufousing extending whited underbelly.
Small rounded ears.
Thick blunt tails.
Extreme horizontal pull/flow.
Extension of black pigment (melanin in individual hair shaft of pattern component, inc extension of length of pigment in temperature-governed Cs & Cb Alleles).
Outcrossing to personal programs including more than 5 generations on both sides of pedigree with no HCM inc at maturity.

All placements are considered via PM only.
These are very special animals.
Years & years of work.
Some still including Millwood parents, alive & healthy.

LOVING FOREVER PET HOMES are not expected to understand the breeding dynamics of course, but the above must be stated because this is my heart & soul.

Thank you.

Happy New Year & Reminder to Keep Pets Safe & Secure Indoors:

Animals are sensitive to noises even outside of our own hearing range & so loud fireworks sound very much like a great terrifying "Explosive Electrical Apocalyptic Thunderstorm" to them!!
( & they also don't understand why their humans suddenly howl & jump & turn into Giant Insects/Apes/Aliens from some Jurassic Era)

THIS is the time of year when so many animals go missing -

SO let's try to prevent this & make sure welcoming 2018 doesn't have the distress of previous years where a lot of Rescue Groups have been inundated with missing pets & distressed owners...

LET'S DO ALL WE CAN to make sure our loved furry ones are contained safely indoors & protected from loud bangs near & far, during this time of Festivity!!
THANK YOU :)
& HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL :)

Thank you to everyone - every single effort, people who shared, people who commented, people who looked, people who distributed flyers, people who communicated & worked together to achieve this AMAZING outcome of Calvin & Hobbes being REUNITED YET again!!!!

Thank you especially to the home who took in Hobbes, cared for him, & took him to their Vet to scan for a microchip. He was reunited with his owner at 2pm this afternoon!!

We also need to thank Hobbes who started the search party(!) & left his scent around his home turf to help his brother Calvin re-orientate himself.

It appears Calvin followed the “mud-map” that Hobbes left for him, now that he detected a familiar scent to direct him, after the wild weather.

Calvin made his way back home (only 2hrs after Hobbes being back)….. & walked in: “Hi Mum, I made it"...

More details of this amazing story to come...

Hayja & myself (Bengal Rescue Australia) have been contacted by RSPCA Sydney & sharing hoping to find this gorgeous boy an excellent home:
Shara
Male
Desexed
13yrs
Shara's story is that he came into care in 2010 & was adopted out to a loving elderly lady who spoilt him rotten & gave him enormous love & care at this time in his life. He had the run of her apartment & was offered a different plate of food each night to choose his dinner from. Sadly, his owner has moved into assisted care & with great reluctance & emotional distress, she has surrendered Shara back to the RSPCA Sydney, to help find him another wonderful home.
Shara has been stressed at the change of environment & is seeking a very special home to adopt him now.
Please contact Hayja or myself (pm Bengal Rescue or this page) for more info.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott Please stop planned killing of 2 million Australian cats. We don't want a war on kittens! The Australian Government plans to kill over 2 million cats, with a $3.6m fund established to wipe colony cats off the face of the earth. This high risk initiative

18/07/2015

The Federal Government has introduced plans to spend $6.6 million to eradicate Australia of 2 million "feral" cats by 2020 in order to "save" threatened species from extinction.

These programs will include trapping, shooting, baiting and worst of all, spending funding on researching a virus to wipe out feral cats and colonies, and have already started here in Western Australia in the form of poison sausages. Not only are cats now being targeted by our government through eradication programs, they have gone one step further and produced an app for community members to dob "feral" cats in. They can't even allocate funds to produce an app to dob in animal abuse or inject more funding into assisting animal welfare organisations, yet they have taken the time and spent the funding to develop an app to target feral cats!

We hear figures flying around about the "75 million" killed every night or "20 billion" native animals being killed each year by the "20 million feral cats", but at those rates one would suspect our native animals species would be wiped out in a matter of years, if not already. Studies have ruled out native animals being the only dietary intake of feral cats, with many concluding that non native species, such as mice, rats and rabbits making up the majority of feral cat diets. Certainly when it comes to the removal of un-owned cats from industrial and commercial areas around cities, we would see a huge jump in the rat and mice populations. These figures also fail to take into account the impact land development, other introduced species and vehicles have on native species numbers, as well as the native species such as raptors, dingoes and quolls who also prey on native animals.

In regards to "feral" cat populations, with only an estimated 1 million feral camels, 3 million feral goats, 6 million foxes and 7 million feral pigs, the estimated 20 million feral cats conservationists try to sell as fact, seems far fetched. We only have around 8 million owned cats around the country and with 23 million people in Australia, it is hard to imagine we have similar numbers of feral cats "hiding" in the outback and bush. Perhaps if one was to include all owned, un-owned and feral cat numbers, we could stretch numbers to 20 million if we tried really hard, but the reality is we don't have anywhere near the numbers as conservationists claim.

Lastly there is the issue of the impact these programs have on native species, such as quolls, dingoes and raptors, as well as on owned cats and dogs, which must be taken into consideration. Baiting and traps can inadvertently kill native species and a virus has the potential to kill of thousands of owned cats, especially where cat owners may struggle to cover the cost of a vaccine to protect their pet. Without a doubt feral animals do have an impact on native animal numbers, but we as humans have had a far greater impact and have much more to answer for than any species of animal. If we are going to implement such measure to control feral cats, lets not use made up statistics to back up our arguments, lets find more humane methods of getting the results we want.

Brown Marbled Female, desexed, 9 yrs old, is desperately seeking a home.
She needs someone to accept her after traumatic life thus far.
*Coordinator will transport*
Becoming very important to find somewhere for her asap...As the house she is living in, is being demolished for new development. She loves her food & is a big girl. Needs somewhere where she can do her own thing at her own pace as she does have PTSD. Becoming urgent.
