Catering to the individual requirements of each dog and owner in order to achieve the best possible results, Alert Dog Training is the wise choice for a happy dog! We don’t subscribe to any one particular training method, utilising whatever methods work for each particular dog. We view every dog and owner as individuals, with differing requirements and abilities. Why Choose Alert Dog Training to T

rain Your Dog

First of all we are passionate about training dogs. Our main concerns are the welfare of the dog and education of the owner. Everyone has an opinion when it comes to how a dog should be trained. Unfortunately most people are mistaken in their knowledge or beliefs. Many clients have chosen Alert Dog Training to train their dogs because :

- We offer a personalised service. We come to you and work around your commitments and availability

- We believe that only by training one on one with a professional trainer will you obtain the real, in depth benefits of realising your dog’s true potential.

- One on one training is where the bond between dog and owner occurs. Our results speak volumes. We are accustomed to obtaining good, quick, consistent results. This is supported by the feedback which we have received in the form of testimonials from satisfied clients over a number of years. We also receive a large number of referrals from many veterinary clinics and pet industry professionals throughout the Perth metro area. What Makes Alert Dog Training Unique? There are plenty of dog trainers, but in our opinion, very few good ones. Many are genuinely nice people with a real love for dogs and who as a result, have themselves become trainers. That is all well and good but you will want results that are tangible and real. Alert Dog Training remains one of Australia’s and certainly W.A’s longest, continuously established dog training businesses. Dog training clubs, associations and group training very rarely get consistent results and generally offer very little value for money. After all, as the saying goes, “You get what you pay for”. They tend not to fix specific issues and in many cases can have harmful or adverse affects on certain dogs, making them anxious or aggressive on occasions. Also, how much time is a trainer able to devote to each individual dog and owner? Will you get conflicting advice from different trainers? All of the above are complaints which we hear on a regular basis. The Alert Dog Training Difference

One of the most often asked questions from potential clients is “Do you use treats to train a dog?”

The answer to that one is a definite no. Why would you bribe a dog with treats when, naturally a dog will want to respond to your commands?! Certainly treats are a tool which can be utilised in certain circumstances in order to assist in the dog’s learning but to my mind, should not be used per se. After all, would you give your children sweets and lollies to respond to your wishes?! Do you want to spend the rest of your life walking around with a pouch, full of doggie treats attached to your belt?! You are likely to pay good money to have your dog trained so don’t get misled by amateur trainers who do not get you the desired results. Your dog should respond to you 100% of the time because it wants to. We utilise a vast array of methods, tailoring the training to your requirements based on knowledge and experience gained from many sources and experience over a number of years. The training is aimed at getting fast results. Being relaxed, informative and fun and useable in real life situations - where it really matters. Alert Dog Training is committed to ensuring a high level of service, backed by an ever expanding knowledge base in the areas of dog training, dog psychology and human-dog interaction.

We have a 14th old German shepherd (Rebel) he is loving beautiful but arrogant and a teenager!

Being a big dog and living in an area where there are alot of elderly people with little dogs we owed to him to be obedient and have total control for his well being.

I’ve had dogs before but never had professional training. Big mistake…..
Del was absolutely amazing. His teaching was logical and simple and like people dogs are different in how they learn. Worth every penny.

Only regret we didn’t start it when he was 3mths old.

Thankyou ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have you heard of the patron saint of dogs? Today is St Roch’s day.

What is his connection to dogs, and why did he become a saint?

Legend says that in the early 1300’s he left a privileged life to care for plague victims, before succumbing to the disease himself.

He went into isolation in a forest where he was befriended by a dog, who brought him food each day and licked his wounds till he recovered.

Upon returning to his home he found his wealthy family had all died, and he was charged with impersonation and spying.

He spent 5yrs in jail with his faithful dog, caring for other prisoners until he died in 1327.

Not sure if dogs today would make it in the wild. 🤣

A large group this week - 27 dogs.

Some previously reactive and anxious dogs present who did very well given the environment.

Great work by dogs & handlers.
Fantastic to see your hard work paying off.

CLIENT REVIEW

We started the 1:1 sessions with Lei when our then 7 month old kelpie started showing quite severe signs of hyperarousal and subsequent lead reactivity around other dogs, after months of puppy school training with another trainer and lots of overall socialisation.

So grateful that we switched to private sessions with Alert when we did, as Lei focussed on getting to know Kosmo and understanding the specific areas we needed help with, and then tailored our sessions to work on those issues directly.

We noticed tangible results after each session and throughout the 7 sessions, our now 1 year old friend is so much calmer, we all feel well bonded and that we’re working and having fun together.

Sure, with a young high-drive dog we still have our challenging moments, but we now feel that we have the tools to tackle any situation and to continue to build on great manners, a strong relationship and some cool tricks in the mix.
Thank you Lei!

🐾Obedience & focus🐾
As you can see from some of these photos, the local wildlife kindly helped out in the form of distractions.
Considering the temptation, all dogs reacted exceptionally well!

Our Group Session last Saturday used Training Games to enhance focus and control in a higher energy environment.

Some of the games we played :

🔹 Relay races using Heel, Sit, Drop, Stay and Recall commands
🔹 Stay Competitions to see which team had the best and longest stays
🔹 Statues - racing to get to the instructor but ready to freeze into a sit or drop within 3 seconds

These games are designed to challenge, and develop, control and obedience, plus add some fun into training.

We finished off with 20 minutes of socialising, where the dogs and owners can relax and say hello.

Our socialising is done in a structured way so the dogs learn valuable skills :

🔹 to wait patiently before interacting
🔹 this gives owners time to talk and check if socialising is suitable between the dogs
🔹 prevent dogs rushing to greet each other
🔹 starting interactions in a calm controlled way is important to help dogs that may be overexcited or reactive to have positive interactions with other dogs.

Our approach of starting with 1:1 sessions ensures you and your dog have the skills and foundation to make the most of our group sessions.

We work with all breeds, ages and issues. Send us a message if you would like more info. 🐾🐾
