It's been just over a week since little McKenzie and his siblings Violette and Timothy arrived in our care, and that time in foster care has made all the difference.

When the trio arrived they were struggling, Timothy in particular, however their vet care, a good healthy diet and the love of their foster carer has seen the most wonderful transformation.

These kittens are now active, playing and up and about as kittens should be. McKenzie in particular is full of beans and is also super cute. Just look at that fluffy tuxedo coat! We know he's going to be a heartbreaker....

If there is one thing Tiandra loves more than playtime it is basking in the sun. And today, that activity will be at the top of her to-do list.

Melbourne's run of sunny days is just to Tiandra's liking; she loves to scope out the best location to sit back and catch as many of the sun's rays as she can.

Dexter is a beautiful example of how rescue can truly transform lives. In his new home with his loving mumma Robyn you would never be able to tell that this boy has survived a living hell.

Dexter was one of the kitties who came to us from an unspeakably horrible cat hoarding situation. He, along with many, many other cats and dogs, was rescued from the worst imaginable conditions.

When Dexter came to us he was rail thin, completely shut down and with awful diarrhea that required quite a few vet visits. The physical issues were the easiest part; Dexter's emotional issues not so easy.

Dexter had to learn how to trust people all over again and it was slow going. After many months he started to let his guard down and underneath was a soft and gentle boy who craved affection. It broke our hearts.

Then along came Robyn, Dexter's saviour. Robyn saw the love in this boy and took a chance on him - and they have very happily been together for a few years now.

This week we got this lovely photo of Dexter who looks every bit the adored house cat that we dreamed he would be. He is the apple of his mum's eye and is her beloved boy.

It is cats like Dexter that make what we do worthwhile. It is hard in rescue, very hard. Then we look at Dexter and remember how far he has come and our hearts soar. But we could not do it without wonderful adopters like Robyn. Adopters save lives, it's that simple.

Our beautiful Cleopatra has really flourished in foster care with her carer Emily; it shows in the way Cleo plays, moves around the house and in her relaxed and confident ways. But that wasn't always the case.

When Cleopatra came to us she was quite stressed from having to fend for herself on the streets. There is no doubting that she was, at some time in her life, a loved house cat.

How she fell on tough times we will never know (though strongly suspect she was dumped), however we can very happily say that she has now settled back in to the safe and loved life of an indoor cat.

Emily has helped rebuild Cleopatra's trust in people and has brought out her fun-loving and affectionate nature. And that means that Cleopatra is now ready for her very own forever home.

Cleo would be a great addition to any family; she loves your attention and is very engaging. And playtime is the most fun thing of all! In many ways she is still quite kitten like.

Tiandra is an exceptionally clever girl who has the smarts and the good looks to match. She is both highly intelligent and super sweet, the likes of her don't come along all that often.

We thought we'd take a few minutes to ask Tiandra to tell us a little about herself as we are trying to help find her a home to call her own.

Here's what she'd like you to know:
❤ She is an avid bird watcher (from the safety of indoors, of course)
❤ She will literally eat anything you give (so easy to food!)
❤ She's a homebody who loves a snuggle on the lounge or sofa and she will ride up on your shoulders if you are keen for that.

Tiandra is fantastic company. She is very engaging with you, loves to give you attention when you want it and she's been through a lot so she appreciates everything you give her.

🛑🛑🛑 URGENT, FOSTER HOME NEEDED BY AUGUST 15 🛑🛑🛑

After their mum suddenly passed away in hospice care from cancer, Audrey and Max found themselves in limbo.

With no family of their dear mum Kerry to take them on, we were asked to find a foster carer for Audrey and Max. We also needed to take them out of the cattery they'd been at while their mum was undergoing cancer treatment.

Sadly, Audrey and Max never got to say goodbye to Kerry, who absolutely adored them. They were her whole world.

We managed to find temporary care at Clayton for Audrey and Max however they are unable to stay where they are (their temporary carer is leaving Australia).

We desperately need a safe place for Audrey and Max to stay while we find them a new forever home.

They need:
➡️ their own room
➡️or a home that has no other cats or dogs.

If you can help please, please get in touch with us ASAP. We are so worried about where these lovely senior kitties will go. Audrey is 11 and Max is 14.

This week we have taken in three little souls who have been doing life pretty tough. And one of them more so than the others.

These kittens were found huddled up in a sheltered area outside a home in Keysborough and were clearly in need of help. These babies stayed at our vet overnight on Monday while they were vet worked and a plan put in place for their care.

We are trying to save the eye of the little tabby boy however the prognosis is not good. Although he is not in pain with it, the eye is cloudy and we are treating with antibiotics and eye drops to see if there is any improvement.

Our first option is to try to save his eye, when possible. When it is evident that saving his eye is no longer an option we will take the next necessary steps. Either way he is now getting the care he so desperately needs.

The little grey girl, the healthiest of the three, has been called Violet while her tuxedo brother is also rallying his strength to get better.

🐱 We will post more on their progress in the coming days but for now they getting all the love and care that they so desperately need.

Sometimes an unexpected windfall just lands in our laps and it is truly one of the greatest joys for us in rescue.

Recently we were asked if we'd like to collect some food for our rescue cats and kittens from the lovely Jo at , who knew one of our foster carers from years ago.

Imagine our surprise when we turned up to collect what we thought would be a moderate amount of food to find this - a full boot load of high-quality brand named food and Feliway sprays and diffusers for our rescue kitties. Literally hundreds of dollars worth of food and supplies.

We were absolutely over the moon!

Thank you Jo and the team at Doncaster Veterinary Hospital for this incredible donation to our rescue kitties. We are so very grateful to you. 🙏👍

Our little qween of hearts Bibi has found her loving forever home - and we could not be happier for her! 🖤🐱🖤

This super affectionate girl now has a family of her own to love on all the time. Bibi absolutely adores people and wants to give kisses and cuddles all the time. She really has the most loving nature.

This week Bibi moved to her new home in Mulgrave, where she will have an older cat best friend as well as her people.

We wish Bibi and her new family all the very best of happiness in their new lives together.

Recently we took in a lovely fluffy girl who had been living on the streets until she wandered into the backyard of a loving family who began to care for her.

Thanks to this family we were able to have this girl desexed, vaccinated and microchipped and she was given a name - Tinkerbell.

A few weeks ago we came to collect Tinkerbell and moved her to the home of one of our foster carers in Dandenong while we start getting her ready for adoption.

Although it has taken Tinkerbell a little time to adjust to her new foster home, she is now starting to come out of her shell and show everyone how loving and sweet she is. 🤎

Soon we will start the journey of finding a forever home for this exceptionally pretty tabby girl, who has the most luxurious coat and luminous green eyes.

It took a little while for Shawna's forever people to find her - but it was well worth the wait! 🐱🤎

This week Shawna moved to her new home in Wantirna South where she is the centre of attention; Shawna a new addition to the family after one of the younger family members moved away from home. 🏡

This girl is the purr-fect fit. She is loving, sweet and super affectionate and she will have company of someone who loves her at all times. We couldn't be more thrilled!

We would also like to thank her foster carer An for doing such as wonderful job of giving Shawna so much love and care when she really needed it. 😘

We wish Shawna and her new family all the very best of happiness in their new lives together. 🎉

We are so delighted to say that Audrey & Max, the two kitties who lost their mum to cancer recently, have today gone in to foster care with us.

These two beautiful senior kitties had been at a cattery while their mum Kerry was in respite care. Sadly Kerry, a long-time supporter of Dandy Cat Rescue, passed away last Thursday and her beloved cats were left with no-one to care for them.

Huge thank you to Elina from Mulgrave who put her hand up to foster these two while we sort out their paperwork and find a more permanent arrangement for them.

We will update you all more on their progress as we go. Today they are out of the cattery and back in the home environment they have known all their lives.

At six months old, Doxius knows who he is and his loving and sweet-natured personality is fully developed. So you know exactly what you are getting when you adopt this boy. 🐱❤

This photo of Raine sitting in her new bed in her new home is a huge cause for celebration at the rescue - this beautiful girl has finally found her forever home!

After months of searching for the perfect home for this girl, the stars aligned and a loving family from Yuroke applied to meet Raine. and there was no doubting that this was the right family for her.

Raine has been getting to know her new people and the family's 8yo dog who has been around cats his whole life. Raine had been in foster care with an older dog too, so we knew she'd be just fine.

That it was raining when Raine arrived into our care back in February and raining when she left is an irony not lost on us! 🌧☔🐱

We'd like to give special thanks to Julie who acted quickly to save Raine during a torrential downpour and brought her to us. She was such a joy to foster and she brought so much to love to our rescue.

We are so delighted to be able to share happy outcomes like this, and we'd like to wish Raine and her new family all the very best of happiness in their new lives together.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear friend, Kerry Curtin, a dedicated supporter of Dandy Cat Rescue and avid cat-lover.

Kerry passed away last night after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind her cherished cats, Audrey and Max, who urgently need a foster home.

Audrey and Max are currently at a cattery, but they cannot stay there much longer. We are desperately seeking a temporary foster carer to provide them with the love and care they need during this difficult time. Kerry loved them so very much.

UPDATE: Sadly Kerry passed away last night.

Audrey & Max don't know it yet but their wonderful mum Kerry is in the last stages of her life.

Kerry has been in hospice care these last few days with end stage cancer, and friends are now gathering to say their goodbyes.

Sadly Audrey & Max have no relatives they can go to when their mumma passes, so we've stepped in to try and help.

We need a foster carer for Audrey & Max, two senior bonded kitties who have spent their whole lives together. Once they have a safe foster home we can start working on a more permanent arrangement for them.

During their mumma's illness progression Audrey & Max have been in cat boarding but they can't stay there much longer.

We need a foster carer who can give them a safe place to stay for a couple of months through this very sad time.

Audrey & Max would need either a room of their own or a home where there are no other pets. They are not particularly active cats and they enjoy a quiet life. We would like to continue that for them too.

We will provide their food, vet care and litter for the length of their stay in foster care.

While Bibi on the left likes to take her time and really explore her play, Miss Prissy on the right plays like toys will be outlawed tomorrow 🤣

These girls both share a love of playtime, it's just a case of each at their own pace.

Shawna is the sweetest rescue kitten who has been patiently waiting for her forever home! 🐾

At just six months old, Shawna is still full of kitten-like energy and affection. She's great with other cats and loves people, making her the perfect addition to any family.

But despite her wonderful personality, not one application or expression of interest has come in for this little girl, and we can't understand why.

Marley had his stitches out yesterday (Saturday) and he's tackling life as a one-eyed kitten brilliantly! Marley will need a special home where he is loved just the way he is.
