Our first recipient herd came in from the hills today. These mares were processed and scanned to see where they are at in preparation for the upcoming season. Not long until the 2023/2024 season now. 😬 🐎

Groom Wanted:
We are looking for a groom to join our team for the 2023 spring polo season. This job also comes with the opportunity to help with general veterinary assistance work and farm work.
Looking for someone to start immediately and potentially stay on for our breeding season and work alongside Dr Al Simson.
Duties would include feeding, general horse care and exercising. You would be required to work weekends during the spring polo season (6 day working week).
Polo experience isn't necessary but strong horse knowledge and riding skills are.
Accommodation can be included in your employment.

Just a little update of our breeding season so far. As of the 19/01/2023, we have:
- Transferred 136 embryos
- Completed 448 inseminations
- Sent 268 lots of shipped semen
We will give you an update on those numbers once the season has finished.

Yesterday, Dr Al had to scan an exceptionally quiet mare outside of the crush to cater for her needs. (Please note this cannot be done for every horse).

Yesterday we said farewell to the wonderful Grace. We have had Grace with us at Carmyle for three seasons (was only meant to be one). She is currently on a plane back to England to be with her family. We are so excited for her to finally be reunited with family and friends but we will certainly miss having her around here. What a privilege to have Al Capone this season.

⚡️⚡️Well breed season is finally over for AL CAPONE. ⚡️⚡️
He has had an extremely busy and successful breed season and we are excited and very proud of the mares that have been bred to him and can’t wait to see all the resulting progeny. All of the breed certificates will be completed over the next couple of weeks and mailed out along with a small token of our appreciation to the many people that bred to Al Capone this season.
🌟🌟We also can not thank Al Simpson and all the crew at Carmyle Vet Services enough for the brilliant care taken of over the last 5 months for the breed season.🌟🌟

We have just finished setting up our new screen that is attached to the microscope. This will allow our clients the opportunity to come into the lab and easily view semen and embryos on the screen.
This is some semen from an 18 year old stallion. The semen had been sitting in the test tube on the bench for most of the day, so as you can see some s***m has died. In the video you can see how easy it is to move around and view the whole sample.
