We’re proud to share that the Reuniting Lost Pets Bill has now passed in Victorian Parliament!

The bill will mean that all vets and shelters will be able to scan a lost animal’s microchip and immediately contact the owner, avoiding the need to send the animal to the local council pound. RSPCA Victoria has significant experience operating pounds, shelters and reuniting pets with their owner, and wholeheartedly support reunification pathways that see dogs and cats returned to owners directly.

In the lead up to the 2018 Victorian election, we advocated for changes to enable vets and other animal shelters to legally return stray animals directly to their owners without an 84Y agreement, which is why we’re pleased to see this bill passed in parliament. This will have a significant positive welfare impact on stray and lost animals while also provide a further benefit of pet registration. Pet owners, pets, animal shelters and pounds will all benefit from this positive change!

Meet Bailey. She is our Story Dog at Hastings Library.
She will be coming back to work on Tuesday 1 March and she is seeking children who are struggling a bit with learning to read. Bailey is kind and patient and listens to children read out loud.

When children read to a dog, the outcomes are amazing! It is a non-judgemental setting, the children's focus improves, their literacy skills increase and their confidence soars. The accepting, loving nature of dogs gives this program its magic and helps children relax, open up, try harder and have fun while reading to a friendly, calm dog. Woof!

UPDATE 🐾🐾🐾 Melbourne Groomers are Permitted to Open for Welfare Grooms Only🐾🐾🐾

Hi everyone, at this stage Mobile Groomers have been given the go ahead to reopen as they are outside and contactless . I do fit into this category as most of you have kindly mentioned ( I also have a seperate entrance) but unfortunately it’s unclear , a grey area . I will be making some enquires and will let you know individually once I can reopen.

Clients who have been canceled due to lockdown will be rebooked in first then I will work through my list of clients who have contacted me during lockdown.

You have all been incredibly patient, and I am so grateful to you all. Thank you .

YAY !!!! Home groomers are permitted to open from midnight tonight.

Unfortunately I am not permitted to open at this stage . Retail stores only in the Metropolitan areas.
