Brighton Veterinary Hospital Veterinary Hospital providing care for the pets of Brighton and surrounding suburbs for the past 30+ years.

Brighton Veterinary Hospital commenced servicing the local and surrounding areas, as a clinic, in 1974 under Dr Gerry Deen’s tutelage. It evolved into its current purpose built residence in 1988. The facility then became the second ASAVA accredited Hospital in SA. Over the years our staff and level of service has expanded to meet increasing client demand. However our focus has been to continue to

offer a family orientated, professional and caring level of service to our clients and of course their pets. One of the enjoyable occurrences is to be now servicing the grandchildren of original clients that we were seeing in the 1980’s. Brighton Veterinary Hospital is well equipped both in staff and instrumentation to provide increased levels of care and service to all manner of pets. Our highly trained and caring staff at BVH hopes to continue to provide quality and affordable service into the future…

Indy, a Border Collie, lives with Laurie in Mount Gambier. They are best friends and share a special bond, with Indy serving as a therapy dog.

During a medical appointment in Adelaide, Laurie took Indy for a walk. Unfortunately, Indy injured herself while playing in a park, which caused her a lot of pain, so they visited us at Brighton Vet Hospital.

After undergoing surgery to have a plate with six screws and an intramedullary pin to repair a fractured humerus, Indy was on the mend. To ensure Indy could still accompany Lawrence on errands during his recovery, Laurie bought Indy a trailer, allowing them to continue spending time together.

We were honoured to treat Indy while she was in Adelaide.

Do you remember Daisy, a loveable cat looking for a new home? We are thrilled to share that this adorable cat has found her fur-ever home in the care of a loving couple.

Daisy came to us seeking a second chance when her family had to make the difficult decision to rehome her, as they were unable to keep her in their current environment.

Thanks to the kindness and compassion of her new family, Daisy is now enjoying all the cuddles, toys and treats a cat could dream of!

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who shared Daisy's story, offered support and helped spread the word about her adoption. Your efforts have assisted in finding her a loving home.

This story is a wonderful reminder of how important it is to find the right environment for the right pet and that pets will thrive in environments that best suit their needs.

We hope Daisy can continue making happy memories and enjoy years of cuddles and adventures with her new family!

While chocolate is a delicious treat for humans, it can be a toxic temptation for our pets. Understanding the toxic nature of theobromine and taking proactive measures to keep those tempting chocolate eggs away from animals is essential.

Meet Sailor, a 16 week old Aussie Shepherd. Unfortunately this curious little puppy got into some brake fluid which contains ethylene glycol, an ingredient most commonly found in antifreeze, a toxicity that we don’t see here too often.

Ethylene glycol when metabolised by the liver can cause damage to the kidneys and if left untreated is life threatening.

Thankfully our vet was quite familiar with antifreeze coming from the frozen prairies of Canada, and was able to treat Sailor.

So, what did Dr Lucas do?

Despite being a gin guy, he cracked out the IV fluids and vodka! The ethanol was diluted and then given intravenously to out compete the ethylene glycol in the liver and prevent it from being metabolised into harmful chemicals.

After a two day all inclusive holiday at the BVH resort, Sailor was happily sent home with healthy kidneys and a clean bill of health.

Hi BVH friends...meet Daisy is 4 year old healthy female cat. We are looking for a new home for her. Daisy gets on very well with dogs and children and is very affectionate! Sadly she has become very stressed and anxious around the family’s other cat which has resulted in her being very unsettled at home. She’s a talkative cat who loves a cuddle. Dr Alex has been working with this family to successfully settle Daisy however we now feel it is in Daisy’s best interest to try a new family home. If you would like to have a discussion about Daisy and the possibility of rehoming her, please contact reception and Dr Alex will give you a call to discuss her history.

Hi BVH friends...meet Daisy who is 4 year old healthy female cat. We are looking for a new home for her. Daisy gets on very well with dogs and children and is very affectionate! Sadly she has become very stressed and anxious around the family's other cat which has resulted in her inappropriately urinating on their carpets and being very unsettled at home. She's a talkative cat who loves a cuddle. Dr Alex has been working with this family to successfully settle Daisy however we now feel it is in Daisy's best interest to try a new family home. If you would like to have a discussion about Daisy and the possibility of rehoming her, please contact reception and Dr Alex will give you a call to discuss her history. Many thanks in advance.

This is a beautiful 6yo male cat called Teddie we saw today which unfortunately has to go back to the RSPCA because his 2 year old human sister is allergic to him. If anyone would like to adopt Teddie please call and register your interest with the nurses at the clinic. We would love to see him find a new home and not get lost in the system! He will be back for a vaccination in 3-4 weeks so we have a little bit of time ! ♥️
