Our breeding dogs are DNA tested, we provide information and support during the dog's pregnancy, whelping and raising the puppies including Puppy Culture protocols .... which would provide an amazing education opportunity while loving and caring for one of our girls.

1. A puppy can help reduce sensory congestion for a child experiencing sensory overload:
“We think of our eyes as video cameras and our brains as blank tapes to be filled with sensory inputs. Michael Shermer”

• A person with autism often suffers from sensory stimulation issues (hyper-stimulation)
which can manifest as confusion, anxiety, panic attacks, physical pain, aggression,
meltdowns and breakdowns.
• A structured, safe, predictable environment which reduces stimulation overload can provide a calming influence on the child.
• A puppy also responds well to a structured, safe, predictable environment and this can provide the child with a sense of shared experience.
• A puppy thrives on routine BUT sometimes situations challenge that routine …… Puppies are their own individuals so sometimes they change their behaviour which can affect the usual routine and this can present challenges for a child on the spectrum. Changesto the puppy's routine presents an ideal opportunity for the child to learn about flexibility; the importance and uniqueness of others by learning that the puppy is a separate being with needs and a will of their own.

It has been a joy for Waratah Puppies to sponsor one of the GUFC Girls' Pathway teams.
These young ladies are committed to learning the game and to always bringing their best for themselves and their team.
2023 was a great year for these girls and we'll be excited to see how they develop their skills in 2024.

This little Moodle, and her brother, both enjoyed their training in Bunnings earlier this week.
The little female (blue jacket) was more confident than her brother (yellow jacket) but his confidence grew as we moved slowly around the store.
Monday and Tuesday are the best day for training in town when the puppies are beginning their training journey.
Bunnings is great because there isn't tempting food on the floor which Assistance Dogs must be trained NOT to sniff or eat...
We love the Assistance Dog training journey with our young pups.

This gorgeous girl was out and about in Bunnings today. Her first day out as a potential Assistance Dog in Training. The training jacket we have is waaaay too big for her as she's only 3kg. (I'll have to sew a tiny one)
For her first day in a trolley, she took it in her stride well and was laying down resting by the end of our shopping journey. I'm not sure what caught her eye but something in the pet aisle certainly got her attention.
After a slow trolley ride up and down a few aisles we went back inside the store walking on a lead. The sliding doors were a bit intimidating on the way in but she handled them fine on the way out. Inside the store a Chihuahua growled as we approached it's trolley so we took the opportunity to do some walking-turns training to go back down the aisle avoiding the Chihuahua who was now standing in his trolley growling.
Bunnings can be very busy on a Sunday so it's not our preferred training day - but I'm very proud of this little girl and how she handled the experience (and glad she didn't hear the comments about her being a 'strange Guide Dog')

In 2020 we introduced additional training to families wishing to train their puppy as an Assistance or Therapy Dog.

In 2022 we will be adding more services and products so look out for exciting news in the coming months.

Congratulations Lavidia - our Player of the Match playing a great game, making some great runs.

GUFC's NPLW Under 13s played a tough game today and it was a tense game to watch from the sidelines. The girls displayed commitment and improved ball skills and the end result was 2:2. Well done girls. Well done Lavidia - Congratulations.
