This week we say farewell (for now) to our Brand and Customer Experience Manager Victoria as she heads off to welcome her new baby into the world! 🐾🌸

**IMPORTANT UPDATE**
Due to a veterinarian shortage in Australia currently, we have been unable to fill every coming shift at each of our locations.
In an effort to open up vet availability during the week when our clients need it most - we have made the decision to TEMPORARILY reduce our Sunday hours at Augustine Heights from 8am - 6pm, with only one veterinarian on duty, which will inevitably limit the amount of pets we are able to see out of hours.
We may also be required to periodically close our Eden's Crossing or Springfield Hospitals for occasional shifts so please allow as much time for routine bookings as possible.
We appreciate your patience as we navigate this unprecedented time - we are certainly recruiting but as you all know, GSV vets are extra special people and it takes time and patience to find the 'RIGHT' ones.
We'd also like to take this opportunity to farewell Dr Tim and Dr Christine (who plan to travel the world individually), and Dr Genevieve who has made the move back to NSW to be close to family.

Would you recognise your dogs body language signals?
Dog body language is very complicated and often misinterpreted, especially in large group situations. Below are some of the more common body language signals we see in the veterinary clinic.
GREEN SIGNAL (friendly)
✅ Forward or back and relaxed ears
✅ Soft direct gaze
✅ Gentle tail wag or tail being carried lower than back
✅ Showing or displaying of stomach by rolling over
ORANGE SIGNAL (stressed, anxious)
⚠️ Ears held back tightly
⚠️ Showing the whites of the eyes (also known as 'whale eye')
⚠️ Yawning or lip licking
⚠️ Tail tucked under or pointing down
⚠️ Lowered posture
RED SIGNAL (fearful, aggressive)
❌ Hard stare
❌ Lip lifting or baring of teeth
❌ Fast wag to tip of the tail
❌ Hackles raised or standing extremely still

🐶 Meet Riley 🐶
Several years ago, when she was just a pup, Riley decided that a box of nurofen would be a delicious treat - little did she know that nurofen is toxic for our pets and causes kidney failure.
Thankfully, her mum has pet insurance!
After 3 days in hospital on fluids and numerous tests later, Riley’s vet bill came to $4,250 but how much was Riley’s mum out of pocket for her vet trip? Only $150!
We are happy to report that years later, Riley’s kidneys are perfect and she is a bestest girl.

2022 has been a challenging, eventful and exciting year for us at Greater Springfield Veterinary.

🐾 We added 9 new faces to our amazing team
🐾 We began our Climate Care Program journey to reduce our carbon footprint
🐾 We started our Kitten Adoption Program and saved 17 kittens in the process
🐾 We welcomed two little babies to the GSV family
🐾 Our resident queen, Charlotte Cat, found her furrever home to live out her senior years
🐾 We hugged each other, cried and laughed more times than we could count

🌎 CLIMATE CARE UPDATE 🌎
Back in August we announced that Greater Springfield Veterinary was participating in the Climate Care Program, facilitated by Vets for Climate Action, to reduce our carbon footprint and increase sustainability of our hospitals 🌎
Our Climate Care Team have been working hard implementing new tricks and tools on how we can save water and we finally have our results for our first module 'Water for Life' 💧
We have successfully saved 278L per day, reducing our water consumption by a massive 32%!
So onto our next module 'No Time To Waste' we go - with more information to come shortly ♻️
