Did you know that an airbag can cause serious injury or even death to a dog in the front seat? The reasons for children not to ride in the passenger seat apply for dogs too as airbags can deploy with great force. In an accident a dog can be thrown with a force 3x its own body weight. Making them unsafe for you, your family or other cars if you are involved in an accident

An ideal option is a crate that is secured in your car, but if that is not an option a sturdy harness with a seat belt buckle in the back seat (not the middle seat). Not all harnesses are created equal and there are no regulations for use in the car, but NRMA have guidelines on road tested harnesses. Lastly please do not secure your dog by their collar,

What is the primary cause of ear infections? Many answered that yeast and bacteria were the primary cause to chronic ear infections which is false. Allergies is a major primary cause of chronic ear infection but not the the only one. Environmental allergies can show up at any age and we are also learning so can food allergies. Building a management plan that works for both dog and owner is important in reducing further infections.

Chronic ear infections can be quite complex, especially when they have not been treated correctly in a long time and the ear has permanently changed. Getting on top of them early is crucial for good management, so if you find you are not getting any where with your normal gp vet, the sooner you can contact a specialist or dermatologist is better.

Chronic ear infections is an all to common issue. Getting the correct vet help early means you can avoid long term problems. If you are constantly going to the vet to correct ear issues, speak to your vet about investing primary causes

High five to Buscuit for a big achievement 👋
Biscuit when she first came to me struggled a lot with the grooming process. She found every part challenging and we could barely touch her nails. Fast forward to today and Biscuit now finds nails clipping a breeze. Thanks to her owners keeping up with regular appointments, we were able to get her to a place where grooming is no longer a big challenge for her.

Melbourne storms....
We have had a lot more storms in melbourne than usual. The stress your dog may have during storms (and fire works) can carry over into grooming, making the session a little more uncomfortable than normal .By being aware of your dog's stress levels and taking steps to ease their fears, you can make grooming sessions a more comfortable and stress-free experience.

Just had a day at the Handle with care seminar with Dr. Michelle Rassool . Learnt new tips and tricks to pass on to my clients. Great seminar for all dog and future dog owners in helping their dogs be set up for success at the vets or grooming salon. If it's run again definitely recommend you attend 👌

Just a quick reminder, Funky Fur has a no-show or late cancellation fee. No-shows tend to happen at a higher rate during school holidays.

Please remember, for me to continue offering a one-on-one service, that keeps the dogs relaxed, appointments need to run smoothly. Giving out timetables and sending out reminders 2 days before appointments, I do everything I can to assist with this.

It's the best job when I get to do nail trims for these little potatoes 😍. Never too early to start getting those handling skills in and making sure long nails don't effect growth and structure. These puppies from @zalarhungarianvizslas are lucky to have a great hands on breeder, making sure they have the best start to life.

This gorgeous girl Coco came to me from Australian K9 Rescue Vic for a well over due pamper. How adorable she is, the sweetest personality, and i can see in the right home she has a cheeky spark in her too. Not ready for adoption but keep watch of their page for when she is.

Thanks everyone for being patient 🙂 If you would like to book in for a groom please send me a message (please do not call as I'm using messages to keep track ) As things are constantly changing I will be working on a week by week basis. Bookings will only be made a week ahead. So once on the list, I will text you when the next available spot comes up. I will be prioritising dogs who's health is a concern first. Places are limited. I need to have photos and write up of each groom for proof of welfare which takes time, Plus accommodating distancing protocols. I was very happy I could finally get the below dogs done over the weekend who have been on my mind through lockdown. Now all comfortable again. I look forward to helping more dogs out and hopefully back open fully on the 26th of October. 😊
