🌟 Bonnie’s Big Adventure 🌟
Bonnie has had quite a journey with us over the past few months and we’re so thrilled to share her happy ending.
Bonnie first came to see us for progesterone testing so we could perfectly time her insemination. She then had a transcervical insemination here at the clinic, followed by regular pregnancy ultrasounds and a pre-whelp check to confirm her litter size, the puppies’ health, and to support her through the whelping process.
Her whelp went beautifully, and her puppies were thriving… until things suddenly took a turn.
About 3 weeks after giving birth, Bonnie came back to the clinic feeling very unwell. She was off her food, vomiting and lethargic. Shockingly, she had swallowed a corn cob 🌽😳
She underwent emergency surgery to remove the obstruction and recovered well at first.
But just a few days later, Bonnie returned very sick. She had severe vomiting, diarrhoea and just didn’t want to move. Blood tests and ultrasound showed she was developing peritonitis — a dangerous and often life-threatening abdominal infection. The odds weren’t in her favour, but her amazing family and our team weren’t ready to give up.
Bonnie underwent another urgent surgery to remove the diseased tissue and flush her abdomen. And this brave girl fought her way through. 💛
✨ Fast-forward three weeks… and Bonnie is HAPPY, HEALTHY and back to her bright, goofy self. ✨
Her pups are thriving, and so is she. What an adventure this sweet mum has had!
We’re so proud of Bonnie and grateful to her dedicated family for trusting us through such a rollercoaster. 💕🐾
