PARASITE CONTROL AWARNESS!
Up to date parasite control is important especially paralysis ticks. With ticks being present in NSW all year round it is crucial our pets are protected.

A key component for paralysis tick treatment is iv fluids and with the recent global shortage of iv fluids it may make treatment for this difficult. To help prevent your pet being exposed to tick paralysis ensure you are keeping up with your parasite control.
We recommend Nexgard spectra a monthly chew for dogs or monthly spot on for cats.

GLOBAL IV FLUID SHORTAGE
With the recent shortage of IV fluids means the supply is limited. We will be prioritising our small supply of fluids for the animals who clinically need them the most.
This will be made aware to all of our surgical and hospital admits and the usage of iv fluids will be made under vet discretion. We appreciate your patience in this time.

Unfortunately yesterday a member of public brought in a deceased cat to our clinic who we believe was hit by a car. We did scan for a microchip and could not find one. If you are from the area and missing your cat and believe it might be yours please contact the clinic on (02) 9522 7088. You will be asked to provide a description of your cat and maybe pictures so we can identify if it is the cat.

Meet Elise, She is a newly qualified veterinary nurse here at SVH. Elise started here as a work placement student while studying her certificate IV in veterinary nursing at the beginning of 2023.

She has a keen interest in surgical nursing and anaesthetics and is always looking for an exotic pet or wildlife to come through the door to care for.

In her spare time, Elise enjoys taking her Maltese dog Buddy for walks.

Meet Alex, Alex joined the team in 2020, quickly proving she was a perfect fit to our nursing team with her positive and caring attitude and of course her love and passion for animals.
Alex enjoys all aspects of vet nursing but has a keen interest in dentistry, anaesthesia and wildlife care and hopes to complete advance studies in these areas in the near future.
Alex shows such wonderful patient care and has a true passion for ensuing all of her patients feel and calm and comfortable as possible when visiting or staying in the clinic.
Outside of work, you can find Alex performing in local musical theatre groups, hanging with her 2 fur-children, Lemon & Dusty, or filling time with various arts and crafts projects.

Meet Amber, one of our hard working senior veterinary nurses. She joined the team in October 2021 as an Animal Attendant, she then became apart of our work placement program while studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing which she has completed and now works full time.

Amber very quickly fell in love with all aspects of the job and her skills only grew and improved as she continued to learn.
Amber has a special interest in surgical/ anaesthetic nursing and puppy training. She has furthered her knowledge in puppy behaviour and training through a course which she uses to teach new owners as Amber is one of our puppy preschool instructors.

When she is not at work you will find Amber throwing a ball for Stormi her ball obsessed staffy.

Meet Maddie, one of our lovely full time senior nurses. She joined the clinic in February 2022 as a work placement student while studying her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing. Maddie then joined us full time and completed her Cert IV In Veterinary Nursing.

Maddie enjoys all aspects of nursing but takes a keen interest in surgical nursing and canine behaviour. She has completed a course in puppy behaviour/training and also is one of our amazing puppy preschool instructors.

Outside of work Maddie enjoys spending time with her cat Wilbur and taking her beautiful Kelpie to the beach.
