As Queensland’s voice for animal care, we prioritise the wellbeing of every animal entrusted to us. 🐶🐱🐹🦜
Founded in 1959, AWLQ is one of Queensland’s most dynamic and best-loved charities. Our organisation is the leader in the zero euthanasia movement nationally and is considered a national leader in animal welfare. AWLQ locally provides a safe haven for close to 10,000 stray and homeless animals each year, while also assisting other communities in saving homeless animals. In addition to our shelter
work, we are committed to keeping pets and people together by providing lifesaving support and resources to people in need with companion animals. We are known for our grassroots and innovative community-based animal welfare work including our community vet clinics, Getting to Zero, Golden Hearts Seniors’ Support Program and the National Desexing Network.

🐾 Hi, I’m Coco!
I’ve got paws the size of dinner plates and a heart even bigger 💕. At just 6 months old, I’m still figuring out this whole “grown-up dog” thing, but I’ve already mastered the art of making friends (and stealing hearts).
I’m playful, curious, and full of happy energy—basically your personal cheerleader with a wagging tail! 🐶 I’d love an active family who can keep up with my zoomies, teach me cool tricks and give me all the cuddles I deserve.
Got kids? Another dog? Awesome! Let’s do a meet and greet to make sure we’re the paw-fect match. Oh, and a secure yard is a must—I need space to explore and show off my puppy hops!
If you’re ready for a loyal, fun-loving sidekick who will make every day brighter, come meet me. I promise to bring the joy (and maybe a little slobber). ✨

Meet your new best mate this holiday season 🐾🎄
We have five gorgeous puppies ready for foster-to-adopt homes at AWLQ: Jingle, Bell, Suzie and Mustang Sally! 🐶✨
Here’s how foster-to-adopt works (and why it’s so easy):
- These pups may have surgery already booked (such as desexing) or treatment still to complete while they’re in foster care.
- AWLQ covers those procedures and treatments as part of the adoption fee.
- During the foster period, we’ll also provide medication and make sure you’re fully supported and set up for success.
If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to welcome a puppy into your home, this is it.

🐾 Woof! It’s me, your new Social Media Manager. The human left, so I took over. First order of business: THE SHELTER IS FULL of my furry friends who need forever homes! Seriously, it’s like a paw-ty in here, but we’d rather be snoozing on your couch.
Also, the human said something about a Christmas Appeal—I think that means treats for everyone? 🎄 Donate today and help us keep saving lives.

P.S. Tell her I did a good job…or at least better than the cat who tried to post a selfie.

Drama? Never heard of her.
Chaos? Not in my vocabulary.
I’m Luca, a 10-year-old Ragdoll connoisseur of calm. My hobbies include:
✔ Perfecting the art of the nap. 😴
✔ Judging blanket softness.
✔ Quietly existing like the refined gentleman I am. 👑
If your idea of a good time is slow mornings, cosy evenings and a cat who won’t interrupt your Netflix binge with unnecessary drama, we’re basically soulmates. 💕
Ready to trade chaos for cuddles? Come meet me and let’s start our quiet love story today. 🐾

They call me Grey, but my personality? Anything but dull. 🩶
I’m a connoisseur of calm, a critic of chaos and a firm believer that life is better when you respect the whiskers. I like my world predictable, my humans experienced and my chin scratches delivered with precision. 🐾
I’m not here for the toddler circus or the hustle and bustle – give me a serene space and a little time, and I’ll reward you with the ultimate prize: my trust. And when you earn it? Prepare for melt-mode.
If you’re fluent in feline and appreciate a cat with confidence (and a dash of cattitude), we might just be soulmates. 😻

Thank you to the thoughtful teachers and students at Robina Outside School Hours Care, who last week donated pet supplies for the animals in our care. 🙌
Recently the teachers and students have been putting together dog houses with plushie dogs and blankets inside and ‘adopting’ them into their loving homes. And for those animals that are not lucky enough to be adopted this Christmas, they’ve been collecting supplies including pet food, litter, toys and accessories to gift to animals in need.
This is such a beautiful gesture and we’re so appreciative! Thank you Robina Outside School Hours Care! 💜

🖤 Shadow’s Rules for Choosing a Human 🖤
1️⃣ Must appreciate mysterious girls with big hearts.
2️⃣ Must speak fluent “gentle encouragement.”
3️⃣ Must love brain games, sniffing adventures and slow walks at sunrise.
I’m Shadow—a 3-year-old Kelpie/German Shepherd mix with a shy soul and a clever mind. At first, I’ll keep my distance (it’s called being classy), but once I trust you? I’ll be your ride-or-die.
I’d love a calm home with patient adults, no kids and maybe an older, confident dog to be my mentor. A secure yard is a must—I need my safe space for exploring and daydreaming.
If you believe in quiet love stories that turn into lifelong bonds, come meet me today! 💛

I’m not just a dog...I’m a lifestyle upgrade. ✨ My name’s Hannah – part Aussie Cattledog, part Staffy and 100% queen energy. 👑
I’m chill on walks, strutting past other pups like a runway model, but at home? I want the crown and the couch all to myself. No canine sidekicks, no exceptions – this is a one-dog show. 🛋️
Give me a secure yard, older teens who respect my royal rules and I’ll give you loyalty, love and the kind of calm companionship that makes every day better.
Ready to live the VIP life? Adopt me and let’s make your home my castle. 🐾🏰

As you prepare for Christmas, keeping your pet's well-being in mind is essential. 🐶🐱🎄
There are many human foods on the 'naughty list' that should be kept away from your pets, as ingestion can cause vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy. If you want to give your pet something special this Christmas, choose some items from our 'nice list'. ✔️
It's not just food you need to be mindful of this Christmas; there are many other animal hazards that are prevalent during the festive season. Be mindful to keep your pets' eating and exercise habits as close to their routine as possible as sudden changes can be stressful. It's also essential to keep pets away from toxic plants such as mistletoe and holly, and dangerous decorations such as broken ornaments and lit candles.
