Things pet stores shouldn’t do…..
We are up to Week 6 at our Birkdale Reactive Class. With half the dogs parents off sick it was an opportunity to do some more one on one advice. So also by this time most of the fear has been reduced to the point that we can start to use some food - so we started a new focus exercise around each other - hard to believe there was no hope of this so close at the start of the reactive course 🐾🐾
So today the young human started handling on the travelator and working on the check in. As you can see great work. But as with any training you can get a situational issue which we had when pup suddenly balked and we all almost had a tumble. That’s when some unknown do gooder thought they would mouth off about the treatment of the dog. 10mins later we filmed this. One of the hardest aspects is the public and when you are working thru previous trauma sometimes issues can very suddenly appear - that’s why we have turned it into a bit of a game for the moment to shape the win. With a wagging tail and a love of treats clearly the dog is in a good place and hands.

Whilst this may only shop a pup going down a travelator - it doesn’t show the scared pup originally with me crouched next to her giving her lots of positive reinforcement. Why scared? For the same reason with the last video of an assistant dog I put up. Same trainer Same company.
This pup is now on its way to being able to assist its owner in times of need.

One of the hardest dogs in my career
An amazing moment happened this afternoon. This dog came to us broken from another known assistance dog trainer. They saw fit to throw it on the travelator during a storm for its learning. It set the dog and client way back. I have working for months to build its trust in me and today it finally paid off - it finally got on the travelator 🐾🐾❤️❤️
Northlakes reactive class - Week 6 showing off their new skills being around other dogs. This isn’t just about the dogs - it is teaching the humans how to talk dog and build that relationship of trust and respect in environments they couldn’t handle previously- the new Northlakes class will start again in a few weeks - don’t miss out
Graduation Class at Albany Creek. Teddy here in the video has been attacked several times and was a screamer because of it when he saw dogs up to 100m away. His parents have trained every day without fail for the last 8 weeks and this is the end result. He can now walk toward other dogs and know his parents have his back. Our next Albany creek class starts next Saturday and there are only a few spots left.
It is only week 4 in our North Lakes Reactive Class and they are doing amazing. Our next rounds will start in the next 2-5 weeks at our various locations so keep an eye out as we post the events here. They always book out so don’t wait and miss out. If you want to learn how to help your dogs reactivity or poor impulsiveness toward other dogs then sign up.
