This is young Theo. A rescue that has been through a really rough time with his mum. He bears the numerous scars all over him from his life prior. Initially completely fear aggressive he had tried training with other organizations that claim to deal with reactive dogs but then stick them 50m away from everyone. Theo was coming in leaps and bounds till mum was t b***d in her car. For the past year she has been working on her recovery and his. He no longer needs a muzzle on normal walks as mum knows what to do and Theo is good now to a few meters away. Our training now is different- he is moving in with a new sister a 1/5 his size so we are working on closeness walking together and the muzzle is to ensure when he gets over stimulated in his environment he doesn’t make a mistake. Today was a milestone. We were right near a busy road - lots of people - lots of noise and his sister just out of view of camera. His and his mums journey will continue as he learns to trust being close to another dog without being attacked and not all dogs are there to harm him 🐾🐾

Monday 27th January- more to come….

Not only do you need to build trust - you need to work in resilience and some fun. Today I showed the humans how to use everyday equipment to build the dogs abilities while being around other dogs and have fun

So week 4 of our Albany Creek Reactive Class. I wanted them to see how far they have come already. Part of doing my job is recognizing at what point and when you can demonstrate or push the dogs further safely. I could see they were ready. The owners blown away as they hadn’t realized and also that confidence boost they are doing great. #reactivedog #reactivedogTraining #reactivedogs
