Full Moon Tonight -

What does this mean.... well it means that for 1 kangaroos will be moving around more! When we have a full moon kangaroos tend to move around more between feeding grounds and if the calls this morning are anything to go by its going to be a busy day tomorrow!

Today was a busy day for one of our volunteers! 4 Kangaroo Pouch Checks and 2 Kangaroo Rescues before midday! Unfortunately there was no saves today but the calls just kept rolling in.

Please drive carefully and slow down during dusk and dawn and especially in the areas you know kangaroos are in!

If you do hit an animal or see one laying on the side of the road, pick up your phone and call your local wildlife rescue group or Wildlife Victoria on 03 8400 7300 so that the animal can be rescued or a pouch check done!

Meet Sweet Sadie. 😻

She came to us with her sister, Poppy, and their kittens. Now that her kittens have found homes, it's Sadie's turn to find a forever family. Sadie may need some time to adjust to new people and places, unlike her sister. However, adopting her with Poppy could make her transition smoother, though it's not essential. Having lived with four dog-friendly cats, she's quite at ease around others. 🥰

At just over a year old, Sadie has grown to love her human's affectionate pats. Her stunning marbled coat is sure to draw attention. Like Poppy, Sadie would fit well in a home with children and dogs that are accustomed to cats, as long as she has a snug spot for her catnaps. 🐈

If Sadie, or perhaps both sisters, have charmed you into considering them as your new feline companions, you are welcome to view her profile below and send us an inquiry. 🐾

Meet the delightful Poppy. 😻

She arrived in our care alongside her sister and their kittens. With her kittens now adopted, it's Poppy's turn to find a permanent home. Poppy's playful nature shines as she frolics with toys, showcasing her confident and curious spirit. She relishes lounging and savours affectionate pats. Having lived with four dog-friendly cats, she's become quite fond of their company. 🐈

At just over a year old, Poppy retains her youthful charm. She's an ideal match for a household with cat-aware children and dogs, provided there's a cozy spot for her to enjoy her catnaps. 😺

Should Poppy capture your heart as the feline friend you've been seeking, please feel free to view her profile below and reach out with an inquiry. 🐾

A heartfelt thank you to our good friends Karen and Corey from Dog Solutions for doing an amazing job rescuing this gorgeous boy.

Karen and Corey were leaving home yesterday morning to go to work at Puppy School when they came across this gorgeous boy laying in the middle of a dirt road shivering cold with his mum standing guard over him.

They called us for advice on what to do, after a quick talk through with one of our experienced kangaroo rescuers a plan was hatched to be able to allow them to assess the situation enough to see if we could help him get back into mum's pouch if uninjured or take into care, if there were signs of injuries.

Holding a blanket up so that they could get in between mum and bub they were able to ascertain that the baby could not stand on his own and he was quickly bundled up and taken into the car. He was freezing cold, and mum took off once he was in the car.

Another quick call to our rescuer saw them meeting up in Thomastown where they were headed for our rescuer to collect the joey and get a more thorough assessment.

On arrival in Thomastown Karen and Corey had done an amazing job of getting him warmed up a fair bit and he was then transferred into a pre warmed pouch with heat packs and the next trip to the rescuer/carers home was made.

He was offered some warm Lectade (a rehydration fluid for animals) and a proper assessment done where it was found that when laying down and trying to stand his left leg was not doing what it should.

A quick call to the amazing team at Werribee Open Range Zoo Vets who were happy to see him and do the necessary x-rays to establish what was going on.

Unfortunately, the x-rays proved that he indeed had several fractures in his spine just above the pelvis which unfortunately means a lot of pain and not a good outlook for recovery. The heart wrenching decision was made to humanely euthanize him so that no further pain or suffering occurred.

We take solace in knowing that he left this world, warm cosy and with a nice feeling in his belly rather than laying out on a cold wet muddy road slowly freezing to death or being taken by a predator.

Although the outcome of this story was not what we hoped for, we use this as an education to people that if you see an animal laying on or beside a road or in a paddock and it doesn't seem right to just pick up the phone and call a rescue group for advice.

A massive heartfelt thank you to Karen and Corey for calling and then picking up this precious boy and to the team at Werribee Zoo vets.

In July, Molly indeed struck gold when she found a loving family to call her own.

Now, three months later, it's evident she still has a bit of growing to do, especially into those ears! Our dear Molly is blossoming into a stunning and intelligent pup, and wherever she goes, her humans are showered with compliments on her beauty. 🤎🖤

Keep it up, Molly! You are living up to all our expectations. 🐾🐾

The Amazing Amber. 🐈💝

Amber is a delightful girl who values her independence but also enjoys affection and the occasional cuddle. Her favourite activities include playing with her toys, snuggling under blankets, purring happily, and chirping at you. Amber has been in care for over 540 days with minimal interest, which baffles us as to why.

Adopting an older kitten has its benefits; their personality is fully formed, making it easier to find one that fits your family's lifestyle. Moreover, it doesn't take long to become best friends. Often, those who have lost their original human companions view their new humans as heroes.

Looking for that four-legged friend to keep you company, contact us or inquire through the link below today! 🐾

Introducing Evie and Lemmie, a charming and playful pair of female kittens who are seeking a loving home together. It takes a special person to adopt one, an extraordinary person to adopt two together!

Evie is the affectionate one who will greet you with purrs of joy as soon as you enter, turning every homecoming into a heartwarming event. While she prefers not to be lifted, Evie will snuggle beside you on the sofa for some cozy cuddling. A lover of sunlight, she often lounges in its glow, sleeping alongside Lemme or in the comfort of her human's bed. 🧡🤍🤎

Lemme is slightly more self-reliant yet just as endearing. She finds amusement for hours on end with her beloved toys. Like Evie, she purrs when you arrive and cherishes sleeping with her sister and in her human's bed. In contrast to Evie, Lemme enjoys being held, offering perfect opportunities for cuddles. 🖤🤍

If you believe you are the extraordinary person who can provide a home for these two girls, please don't hesitate to reach out to us through the link provided below. 🐾

⏰ Daylight Saving Time Reminder ⏰

Just a reminder that as we turn our clocks forward by an hour tomorrow, it is important to remember that "wildlife do not have clocks." As you commute to and from work, be mindful that wildlife may be active at unusual times. With the increase in daylight hours, remain vigilant not only at dusk and dawn but also in the periods just before dusk and just after dawn.

Our time change does not align with the natural patterns of wildlife, so please be cautious.

Remember, wildlife does not have clocks!

While Nutmeg cherishes the time spent with her foster family, she is looking forward to finding a home of her own before her 1st Birthday. 😽

Her sociable nature and love for companionship, Nutmeg envisions a lively home teeming with friendly faces, engaging activities, constant cuddles, and most importantly, the unique bond that comes with family life. Nutmeg's ability to adapt and flourish in different settings suggests that any family, regardless of size and whether they have other pets, would be an ideal match for this sweet girl. ❤

If you are a lover of Tuxedo’s and are looking for a new addition to your family, look no further. Nutmeg clearly will suit a home with other felines and a cat savvy canine or two.

A massive thank you to ARC ( Animal Rescue Cooperative) for again sharing some donations with us for our dogs and cats in care! 🐕🐈‍⬛

This donation goes a long way to helping us keep our foster babies' belly full without us trying to find extra funds.

ARC is an amazing organisation that helps rescues all over the country to ease some of the burden, and we seriously cannot thank them enough! 💕

A huge thank you to our volunteer Dani and her helper Andy for collecting donations for us!

On September 9th, our volunteer Heidi received a call from her work colleague Cam regarding a Raven that appeared unwell and was sitting on the railway tracks. Fortunately, Cam, who has experience in wildlife rescue, was able to save the bird after completing his job. The bird was a juvenile Raven, severely undernourished, but after being examined by the caring vets at Lort Smith Animal Hospital, it was taken into care.

Regrettably, on September 24th, Heidi discovered another juvenile Raven on the tracks at work. This one was in poor condition, with a split, broken, and chipped beak, and a broken wing. Sadly, it had to be humanely euthanized to prevent further suffering.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Cam and Heidi for their efforts in rescuing these two young birds, sparing them from a slow and painful death.

In early January, we got a call from an emergency vet inquiring if we could take in a sweet mother cat and her 7-week-old kitten. The kitten, fittingly named January, had an old fracture in her leg which led to an amputation.

Six months on, January found a loving home with a wonderful couple, and they're all adjusting nicely. ❤

This past weekend, it was the mother's turn. Clara was adopted into her own forever home, and we couldn't be happier for her. It's bittersweet, though, as many adults stay in care while their offspring are swiftly adopted. 🥰

A heartfelt congratulations to Clara and her new family. We eagerly anticipate updates on her new life.
