‼️Overheating / Heat Stroke is real and fatal‼️

French Bulldogs are brachycephalic breeds with a shorter muzzle and tend to suffer from heat a lot more due to their restricted airflow, so please be aware!

🌡With the increase in warmer weather it is vital we are aware of the symptoms of heat stroke and how to prevent it.
🥵In our QLD climate, higher humidity means that it takes lower temperatures to get excessive heat exposure.
🐶All our dogs are very different as to what they can and can’t handle, learn their limitations from an early age.

📌On warm / hot days please ensure you have undertaken the following measures to prevent overheating;
🔥Never walk in hot or humid weather.
💥Fresh water available in several bowls located in full shade.
🔥Plenty of cool shady areas.
💥Kids wading pools are great.
🔥A/C, fans, misting system.
💥Cooling jackets or mats are great for when you are not at home.
🔥Add ice to water bowls or make frozen treat.
💥Never leave pets in a car.
🔥Always cool your car down first before putting your dog in for car trips.

⬇️Below are signs of heatstroke, it is important to act fast if you notice any of these signs your pet should be seen by one of our Vets immediately – please call ahead to let the clinic know that you are bringing your pet down.

🌬How to cool your dog down in the event of excessive heat;
💧Cool water - Always cool from the paws upwards, running water in a bath or shower. Don’t use ice water can restrict the blood vessels and impede the cooling process.
💧If you’re not near a bath our shower, paws on a bowl of water, cold cloth or water on boys bits always works a treat, wet some towels etc and wrap them around the paws then place one on the head.
💧Offer small amounts of cool water, do not force them to drink or try wet their tongue.
