Was lucky enough to spend 3 days learning from brilliant animal behaviourist in Daylesford, AND I only had one incredibly brief migraine 🙂↕️
If you don’t know Ken’s work, he’s done some incredible things in training and conservation. He’s taught chimps to scream in unison when they see people so rangers can arrest illegal poachers, and he’s currently working on teaching elephants to safely adjust their migration routes to avoid poachers - using fully remote training so humans don’t become reinforcing. His elephant project has reduced deaths from 60-70 a year down to around 5-10, all from natural causes, and for the first time in 30 years the population has actually increased!
These three days have been so valuable and I’m genuinely grateful I got to be there. I’ve been taking a bit of a hiatus from training lately thanks to my questionable brain function, but I’m feeling excited to get back into it and help more doggos and their humans 🫶🏼
