🌟 Snakebite Warning❗️ 🌟

This weekend we had another snakebite patient brought into us. The dog's owner saw the snake and their dog together in the same yard, and an hour later the dog collapsed. This precious pup is now doing well, but it's a timely reminder that snakes are still active at this time of year. 🐍

🔴 PLEASE - If you see a snake in the same yard as your dog, jump in the car and contact us immediately to let us know you are on your way. This puts them in best position to be treated, as if bitten, your dog could stop breathing very suddenly. We will keep your pet under observation and only give antivenom if clinical signs develop.

Was a pleasure training K9 Trackers Perth pups - as expected they were A+ students!

Today we utilized our training break to have most of our K9s and handlers attend and complete a snake avoidance course. Due to our teams attending most callouts in bushland areas, we need to ensure not only our handlers are kept safe but our K9 partners as well. We had the pleasure of meeting Molli for training yesterday, a very good pup! 🥰
Our training focuses on both snake movement and snake smell- using non-venomous python species as a visual cue, as well as local venomous snake species as a cue for scent.
