Dr Sam tells us that she saw some snakes out and about when she was walking her dog Daisy at the weekend❗️️
As we get closer to Spring, snakes become more active as they leave their winter retreats in search of a mate and food, so it's vital that dogs are taught to avoid them. 🐍
Snake Avoidance Training for Dogs is provided by Animal Ark, a leading wildlife training provider based here in Perth, and the cost is only $240 inc GST per dog ($120 inc GST per refresher).

Focus is on Probait as a commonly and widely used 1080 bait, and FOXOFF, also a 1080 bait from Animal Control Technologies (Australia) (ACTA) manufacturers.
Based on a highly successful scientific research project, we are happy to finally put the idea into commercial practice.

Today was Apollos Snake Avoidence training with Animal Ark. The staff were very informative, and the technique is unique in allowing dogs to learn in a safe manner about avoiding snakes within the snakes native environment.
Thankyou so much guys for taking the time to train our pups to be safe. Looking forward to our refresher next year.

With all the baby snakes hatching out now it's a great time to consider snake avoidance training. You may not be concerned about your suburban back yard but your dogs could encounter snakes anywhere, at the beach, the local oval or on a bush walk. Baby snakes are in a way more of a threat as they're unable to control the amount of venom when biting, whereas an adult snake can sometimes give a dry bite as a warning. You must always seek emergency vet treatment if a bite is suspected.
The large Dugite in the photo below managed to get into my puppy playground last October while I was away visiting family. Rosie has a high prey drive and thankfully had the training with Animal Ark as a puppy and a refresher a year later otherwise this story wouldn't have ended well. Winnie (4 months old at the time) came to my daughter when called thankfully, but Rosie sat opposite the snake, having cornered it! Without the training I feel sure she would've fully attacked it like she does the poor Bob-Tails. Rosie was transfixed and Em made the brave move of sweeping in and grabbing Rosie by the scruff just as the snake struck out but thankfully nobody was hurt!
I am very happy to say that Animal Ark are holding several training dates near me and I've already got Winnie and Rosie booked in. We've just come back from a long off leash walk on the golf course where I saw a snake.
I smelled him first, so was on the lookout and then he came out of nowhere and lunged at me. My long legs launched me 3 foot of the ground.
I thought about going back to investigate but my training with Animal Ark Snake Avoidance Training for Dogs taught me to move away. A long "Noooooooo" from mum also reminded me.
Afterwards every curly stick had me on edge for a while.
