A call out from SAFE Newman -

Buzz was brought into the SAFE Newman family from a remote community as a tiny pup, and struggled to win the attention of potential adopters as he was a shy fellow. But boy could he be cheeky!

After 149 days in care and just as he met a potential forever family, Buzz took his "iron gut" moniker a bit too literally - he consumed pure iron, the powder from an instant heat pack that was being used by his unwell foster carer.

At Buzz' small size (only 10 kilograms), even a small amount of pure iron can be a fatal dose.

His carer sought veterinary advice immediately, with a specialist poisons consultation, and Buzz himself began vomiting in the car on the way to the emergency vet. Unfortunately, he didn't get rid of all of it and by the time x-rays were taken, it was found that the iron had digested too far along and it was in his intestines.

The vet advised us he would need to be flushed internally, from both ends, under general anaesthesia, and given an infusion to speed any remaining iron particles along... they told us this was going to be over $4,000.

Our options were to accept the price and go ahead, or to euthanise Buzz due to the cost. Knowing Buzz was so young and healthy, and had a new family waiting to adopt him, we followed our instinct and agreed to pay.

Our bill came in at $4,313.00 and we were lucky enough to receive a $659.13 discount - leaving us with a total bill of $3,736.15

Unfortunately, this bill does put strain on our limited resources, and we desperately need help.

We are reaching out for donations to help us cover Buzz' unexpected bill, so that we can get back to full throttle helping dogs in regional and remote WA.

Any amount, large or small, will be helpful.

Donations over $2 are tax-deductible.

Microchip details out of date 💔

This kitty was recently found in Forrestfield - they had been visiting the finder for a while, but always seemed to be in decent shape.

The microchip tells us kitty is FEMALE, 8 years old, was adopted from Armadale Community Animal Rescue Group Shelter to a home in Byford probably when around 6 months old, and her shelter name was Suzee.

The phone number is not connected, we haven't had a reply to our message to someone with a matching name on Facebook, and there's no email on the chip. Mail to the Byford address has been sent, but we suspect the owners have moved.

The microchip registry, rescue she came from, and local rangers have been advised.

Kitty has been kept inside by the finder for more than a week now and still no enquiries.

Happily, the finder would love to give her a home, but it would be ideal to find her old people - either to reunite or to get their support for rehoming.

Maybe her family had kids or adopted other pets, and this older girl went looking for a quieter place. Or maybe she's a long lost pet who got relocated accidentally.

There is no judgement from us either way, but we'd like to make sure there's a happy ending.

Do you know her or her people?

And have you checked your pets microchip details are up to date?

Buzz... that's me!

I came into care with my siblings as a young pup, and was waiting up in Newman for my forever family to find me - I got impatient after waiting a few months though, so hitched a ride to the big city to find them!

I'm a happy little man - well, on the small side of medium - and I can't wait to meet my forever family.

The trouble is, I'm really shy when new people come to meet me - if my foster mum is there, I just want to stay by her side, so it's hard for me to show you how playful and cuddly I can be just 15 minutes after moving in.

I LOVE to cuddle. Playtime, chewing my toys, and sniffing things on walks are also favourite activities of mine. Oh and food! I love food. I'm very easy to train, because I really love food.

Another dog pal would be awesome! I have a big one in my foster home here in Perth, and even though she doesn't want to play as often as I do, I still love hanging out with her quietly. It's okay if I don't live with another dog though, as long as I get to see friends at the park.

I've just recently met cats and they're okay. I wish they'd play with me more than they do, but I don't mind living with them. I will need a slow and controlled introduction to any new ones, as I can get excited at first and try to get them to play chasey, but I definitely don't mean any harm.

I used to live with little kids and they were fine by me, but I'm not so good at first impressions and need to be given a chance to get to know you before I'll be cuddling and playing, so little ones might not be patient enough.

I don't like the idea of being home alone all the time, but as long as I get my walks and plenty of cuddles, it's probably okay for you to go to work. I think I'd definitely rather be an indoor kind of dog though.

I'm currently hanging out in East Vic Park.

Update - thanks! We have some offers already, but by all means send your details through if you are interested in fostering or adopting dumped domestic ducks in the future and would like to be emailed or texted when some come up, as we do get regular requests.

Please include location, what you can fit in, foster/adopt availability, if adopting confirmation that they'll live out their lives as pets, an email address and phone number and we'll keep a list of people.

Note most dumped ducks that need relocating are either groups, or young solo drakes.

--

We've also been asked to help find a new pet home for 6 dumped Cayuga ducks.

We want to get them out of the local park they're in before breeding or water quality / quantity issues, but our metro foster carer can't host 6 for long, so we're hoping to get a home lined up first. We'd like to keep them all together as they were dumped together.

Transport possible for mileage.

Update - Beatrice 🐷 and Tam 🐑 have arrived at their new home and are settling in.

Thank you to everyone who came forward expressing an interest in Beatrice and Tam, including those who offered to provide a temporary home while a permanent home was found.

🚨🚨 URGENT 🚨🚨 URGENT 🚨🚨 URGENT

Bonded duo Beatrice 🐷 and Tam 🐑 are desperately seeking a new home together.

THEY HAVE ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT before they are seized from their suburban property.

They are both approximately 2-years-old, hand raised and spend their days grazing and sleeping together.

Tam and Beatrice must go to a good, forever home, where they will have access to pasture and become members of your family. PIC is essential.

Their current owners would like to be able to visit them occasionally.

If you can assist, please message us with details about your property and photos of where the pair will live, along with your best contact number.

🐷🐑🐷🐑🐷🐑🐷🐑🐷🐑🐷🐑

Edit by other page admin to add: transport assistance possible within a couple of hours of Perth, if that's needed to get these buddies to a new, safe home. If you're in regional community Facebook groups, please share this post in there too.

🏡 Seeking a Loving Home for Adorable Duo! 🐑🐷

Hey friends! 👋 We're on a mission to find a caring and secure home for an absolutely charming chocolate brown Damara-like ewe, Tam, and her best buddy, Beatrice, a bonded black piggy. These sweethearts are not under our care, but we are in stepping in to help them find their forever home.

These lovable companions have been hand-reared and are currently in need of a new place to call home. The ideal scenario would be a home where their current owners can occasionally visit, but if that's not possible, we're open to a loving home where they can spend the rest of their lives together. No lunch plans here – they are strictly off the menu!

These cuties were raised in suburbia but recently received an official 7-day move-on notice. Time is of the essence, and we're looking for a warm and welcoming environment for them before the end of the month. Their owners are anxious that they might end up in the wrong hands, and we want to ensure they are safe and happy.

We all know hindsight is 20/20, and it would have been great to plan better when they were babies. Nevertheless, what's important now is finding a solution that doesn't involve them becoming someone's meal. If you can provide a loving home for Tam and Beatrice, please comment or message us. We'll work on getting some better photos, but in the meantime, imagine a big, black, and beautiful albeit slightly hairy Beatrice who is incredibly friendly with both humans and sheep and Tam, a damara sheep. Let's make sure they have a happily-ever-after! 🏡🐑🐷

Oinksie is STILL looking for a forever home. This older boy deserves to be happy and loved. If you can provide Oinksie with a forever, experienced pig home, please contact SAFE.

Our big boy Sir-Oinks-a-Lot is still looking for his forever home. Would love to see him on a property with plenty of space. He loves his fruit and vegies though some of the vegies he may leave to last and eat the fruit first. He also gets a scoop of pony maintenance pellets softened with a little water. Oinksy love it. We feed him hay which he often makes a bed out of it to snuggle into.

Oinksy also loves he bath tub and will sit in it to cool off or lay in the mud next to it. He loves a belly rub too. He will need a large area which is secure with metal railings as he is very strong.

Oinksy is just over 9 years old and his adoption fee is $150. He is located in Bullsbrook. Please check with your shire to see if they allow pigs first as many do not including some rural areas like Chittering. If you are interested please contact us on 0419 104 474.

We are VERY happy to share that very early this morning, Leo went into one of the traps we had set up with the help of a Perth Rescue Angels volunteer.

He was found on Kent St, Victoria Park, approximately 3 kilometres from his escape point from 13 months ago (December 12, 2021).

After a bit of stressing out finding himself in a new location with a new person, he is back to his smoochy self - minus a bit of weight.

He will join his relieved family in the UK as soon as vet cleared, and will be relaxing in foster care until then ❤️

Thank you so much to everyone who has shared, commented, searched and more.

P.S. We have been told he had a house feeding him, near where we trapped him. If you are feeding a cat that is not yours, PLEASE take it to a vet, or call the rangers or a rescue for help trapping, so it can be scanned for a microchip - it may be a long lost pet, and without doing this they may never get back to their family.

Cross your fingers and paws, very promising sighting ⭐✨🐾

Leo is VERY far from home and even further from his family. Please help find him.

Leo went missing from Dogtainers at 184 Raleigh St CARLISLE, on December 12.

He was meant to be boarding a flight to the UK, where he would join his family as the final piece of their big move. They are heartbroken that he is lost and alone.

Leo's old house was in Baldivis so he MAY try to walk back there - but he may also be hiding scared in Carlisle.

He is normally very friendly but may seem shy now. He is desexed, microchipped, and has a distinctive slit in his right ear.

PLEASE LOOK FOR LEO!

Check your yards and any sheds, call him for dinner, and if you're near Dogtainers, leave food and water out to encourage him to stay in the area.

If you live between Carlisle and Baldivis (as the crow flies), please keep your eyes peeled.

PLEASE CALL IF YOU THINK YOU MAY HAVE SEEN HIM.

0400 390 099 or 0439 972 947 - these numbers are for local rescue volunteers.

And please share the stuffing out of this post
