Meeka has figured out the easy way to drop 😉😂 #thebullyboss
Got a request for a day in the life of a dog trainer! - this was a VERY quiet Sunday so I thought I would try it out. I’m going to film another one this weekend so keep an eye out! - if there’s something in particular you’d like to see let us know! #thebullyboss
A bit of a real and raw post incoming. This is my Maizey. This afternoon was our first muzzle training session. As I have previously spoken about Maize is a reactive dog, I have worked with her for 2 years straight and we were doing extremely well. Unfortunately last week an incident occurred which has resulted in Maize wearing a muzzle in public from that date forward. Thankfully no one or no thing was injured and it could have been a lot worse. I spent a long time wondering if I was a bad trainer or pet owner and quite sadly this can be the reality for rescue dogs when their past is unknown. Moving forward to a more positive light, I have acquired all the correct equipment for maize to be walking in public and this set back just encourages us to work harder and better. I, like many other dog owners, would do anything for my girl and this is to ensure she has the best quality of life, during this transition we will also be changing up our training schedule, so stayed tuned for that! This post is for everyone to see that yes, trainers can have struggles too. It is OK if your dog has a set back, it does not make you a bad owner! It is OK to be upset and worried, but don’t give up on your dog, it can be scary for them as well. Reactive dog owners; I see you and I am with you. #thebullyboss
Week three of DogStars 🐾🐾 - in week 1 we had a large distance between all these dogs and now we can stand in a line! - what might seem like a small win is a HUGE win in these dogs lives and for their owners. Week 4 graduation coming up quickly for these beautiful dogs! 🐾🐾
Buffy was off training for a few weeks due to an injury and now we are back into it! - Buffy was very excited for her first session back 😍😍😍😍#newcastledogtraining #dogtrainernewcastle #dogtrainersaustralia #thebullyboss #newcastlensw #dogtrainers #dogtraining #groupclassess #dogstars #dogtrainersofinstagram #puppyclasses
Welcome to the Bully Boss! We have been so busy since launching the business in November I’ve barely had the chance to say hello! - if you’re a bit confused about which class is best suited to your dog, have a listen and reach out if you have any questions! - Ruby 🐾#newcastledogtraining #dogtrainernewcastle #dogtrainersaustralia #thebullyboss #newcastlensw #dogtrainers #dogtraining #groupclassess #dogstars #dogtrainersofinstagram #puppyclasses #puppypreschool
Huge shoutout to Milo and his owners at Puppy School tonight! We learnt the drop and every pup did an amazing job, but for this little sausage we went from struggling to even get him in the drop position to this fantastic drop and release in only one session! Watch out on the stories for some more fantastic pups and owners! #puppyschool #thebullyboss #dogtrainer #newcastlensw
This is why I do what I do 🙌🏼🙌🏼 what a difference 4 weeks can make! A dedicated couple putting in the work to get their dogs walking like this! You can see in the first week the dogs were walking wherever they wanted and pulling, today they were able to walk in a perfect heal. I am so proud to be training these dogs with Ash and Tom @ashcatt @tompayne8 🐾
Working on recall today with Angus! As you can see in the video I’m creating some resistance with the lead and then Thida calls come! And Angus is excited to go to her! - this is an important exercise but a small step for a much bigger exercise! remember, small steps are key 🔑 #thebullyboss #dogtraining #dogtraingersofig #dogtrainingaustralia #dogtrainer #dogtrainingnewcastle #dogtrainersnewcastle #newcastledogs
CLICKER ASSOCIATION
This is my first session with Lola the Rescue mixed breed, Lola came from a really unknown background but once her new family got her it was very obvious she had suffered some form of abuse. Lola is afraid of a lot of noises, movement and people so introducing the clicker needed to be a positive experience. Lucky for me Lola is very food driven!
There’s a few things to pay attention to in this video;
- I am not also directly feeding the food into her mouth, this is so she disengages with me and then her attention is then once again gained by the sound of the clicker
- She is in her own home, an environment she feels safe and confident in. Especially for an anxious and scared dog my first few sessions will always be in their home to build up confidence
- She is not on a lead, she is free to not participate if she doesn’t want to, but this means she won’t get the treat, creating the association of the click with a treat
- My session did not last long at all, doing a mini session 3-4 times a day is far more effective then one big long session once every 1-2 days
Follow along to see more of Lola the rescue pup!!
