Gday everyone

So just how difficult is it to be a professional groomer?

The answer - VERY DIFFICULT!!

Would you use a medical student to perform open heart surgery? It angers me that there are what can only be called sharlatans providing a service which they have absolutely no right to be involved in. You should not be using anyone so called groomers who cannot substantiate where they were trained and to what level. Your pets deserve the care of a QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL and not just someone who has performed a groom on a friends dog who operates from their garage.

The general public in general have absolutely no idea that the pet grooming industry across Australia is NOT REGULATED. Therefore, you can have anybody set themselves up with a van, grooming equipment and a dog, do a few grooms for a friend in their garage and then call themselves a professional groomer when they are nothing of the sort

My training included a Nationally recognised
CERT3 in grooming, Pet First Aid which again is Nationally recognised through the Pets Industry Association of Australia (PIAA), 17 years of grooming all breeds and sizes, specialist in Arctic breeds, Gun Dogs, severely matted breeds, double coated breeds and more.

My Pet First Aid training has allowed me to pinpoint medical issues with the pups I care for, that the owners had absolutely no idea they were presenting with.

I urge you to ask anyone you are thinking of using to groom your dogs, to prove their qualifications before they are allowed to even be considered for that privilege

1. Where were you trained, to what level and who was you Master groomer?

2. How much experience do you have?

3. What breeds are you experienced with?

4. What size of dogs do you deal with?

These are just some of the things you need to ask to ensure you are in capable hands

G’day folks

Have you ever wondered if the matting you see on your canine babies is harmful to their overall health? Well the answer is absolutely YES!!

Just imagine having someone grab your hair then twist it as hard as they possibly can until your skin is pulled taught, well that’s exactly why matting is a severe hazard to your pups health

This is what can and often does happen without your knowledge if you leave matting unattended

1. Restriction of capillary blood flow through the skin

2. Restriction of nerve function across the skin

3. Restriction of oxygen to the skin

4. If the matting is not attended to and your pup is not regularly maintained, matting can and does cause the skin to die

Please don’t leave your pups health and care to chance and have them regularly maintained

I am nationally qualified Pet First Aid groomer, specialising in alll breeds with 17 years experience

It has taken me some time to place this post and let everyone know that I suffered a heart attack 2 weeks ago and have been out of action ever since. I am waiting for bypass surgery on the 19th of this month so I hope that all my valued past, present and future clients can work with me till I return to work. Please keep your calls and inquiries coming and I will work with you to schedule appointments

I never would have know that I hand a problem if not for a persistent chest cough and a shortness of breath, then deciding to take myself to the RHH Private. Please, do not ignore even the slightest symptoms and present to a medical facility

Please remember to ensure that your pups are regularly groomed, especially with the warmer months upon us. Double coated breeds such as German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Border Collies and others MUST have appropriate management to w sure they do not suffer from heatstroke during Summer. I have been grooming professionally now for 16 years with vast experience with double coated breeds amongst other specialties.

Howdy to all with the festive season upon us!!

I thought it poinient that for myself, I needed to take a very solid reality check. Being self-employed is incredibly demanding and sometimes unforgiving. However, we all need to take stock of what we have

In my case, these are the things that make my life as blessed as it could possibly be

1. A gorgeous, loving, supportive and eternally devoted wife of over 20 years, who is my love, my life and my best friend

2. A highly successful business that continues to grow with boundless opportunities

3. A gorgeous home that my wife and I love and have worked incredibly hard to secure

4. Two beautiful and funny pups that provide both of us with limitless, unbounded and unconditional love and devotion

4. The finances to enjoy holidays when we can with family and friends

5. The opportunity to wake each and every day in a piece of paradise we have always loved

When feeling down, please take stock of the things that are right in front of us, and those that sometimes slip into the background when we are overwhelmed and feeling down.
