Someone asked why kelp is good for dogs' teeth. Here's the honest answer.

Not all seaweed is the same. The one with the most research behind it in dogs is Ascophyllum nodosum. One trial ran ninety days: sixty dogs, half got it, half didn't. The ones that got it had less plaque, less tartar and fresher breath.

It doesn't scrub anything. Your dog eats it, it ends up in their saliva, and researchers think that's what makes plaque less likely to stick. They're still working out exactly how.

Then there's the catch. Seaweed carries iodine. A little is good, too much isn't, especially for your dog's thyroid. So it was never about just adding kelp. It's about how much.

Check the label. Look for the species name, not just the word kelp. And if your dog has a thyroid problem or takes medication for one, check with your vet first.

H**pPet® Fresh Snout uses Ascophyllum nodosum. Supports fresher breath, oral hygiene, oral cleanliness and gum comfort, daily, from the bowl.

It won't replace brushing and it won't replace a vet dental clean. But it's the one you'll actually keep doing.

Closer cuddles. Better kisses. More of these moments without the wince.

H**pPet® Fresh Snout supports fresher breath, oral hygiene, oral cleanliness and gum comfort, daily, from the bowl.

Contains Ascophyllum nodosum, a specific seaweed rather than generic kelp, with parsley and activated charcoal. No brushing required.

It doesn't replace toothbrushing and it doesn't replace a professional dental clean, so book that too. And if your dog's breath changes suddenly, or smells sweet or ammonia-like, see your vet.

It's Pet Dental Health Month, and you've probably already seen the checklists.

Here's the bit that gets skipped: knowing what to do was never the problem. Keeping it up is. Daily brushing is the gold standard, the vets are right about that, but most dogs have strong opinions about a toothbrush and most owners quietly give up by week three.

So the useful question isn't "what's best?" It's "what will you still be doing in five years?"

For a lot of households, that's the bowl.

H**pPet® Fresh Snout is daily oral wellness support you add at feeding time. Ascophyllum nodosum, a specific seaweed rather than generic kelp, with parsley and activated charcoal. Supports fresher breath, oral hygiene, oral cleanliness and gum comfort.

It doesn't remove existing tartar and it doesn't replace a professional dental clean. Book that too. And if your dog's breath changes suddenly, or smells sweet or ammonia-like, that's a vet visit, not a supplement.

Save this one for the next time you look at the toothbrush and think "tomorrow."

An Australian pet magazine wrote about us yesterday. 🐾

Australian Dog Lover covered the Senate's call for clearer rules on pet nutrition labels, and they came to our co-founder Arthur for the industry view.

Here is the part that felt good. For eight years we have worked with government bodies and industry to make one thing clearer for everyone: h**p seed is nutrition. That work is submissions, working groups and consultations. Long documents read by about nine people. None of it sells a thing, and all of it decides what your pet's label is allowed to tell you.

Eight years of doing that quietly, and yesterday it turned up in a magazine that Australian dog owners actually read. 🥹

👉 Link is in the first comment. Have a read, and share it if you think pet owners deserve labels that make sense.

If you've been wondering what the paw over the snout was about, here it is in plain words.

There's a word we're not allowed to say online. It's legal. It's sold in Woolworths and Coles. It's on page 50 of an Australian Senate report. And the algorithm hides this post if we type it.

The Senate's Recommendation 14, July 2026: payment providers, advertisers and online platforms should treat businesses like ours as legitimate and legal businesses.

That's the whole campaign. A legal Aussie small business, serving Aussie bowls since 2018, asking for a fair go.

We're pinning this one. Receipts below.

Saying the quiet part out loud: this isn't for everyone.

If it started last week, watch it. If your dog is limping, swollen, bleeding or in distress, that's a vet visit today, not a tracking project.

But if it's been months, you've changed the food more than once, and you still can't say whether any of it helped — that's who I'm here for.

Somewhere between the pantry and the bowl, a computer got involved.

His dinner is legal. It's been served in Aussie bowls since 2018. But somewhere in the checkout, an algorithm decided it looked 'suspicious' and a human had to explain that to a very patient dog.

The Senate put it in writing in July. Recommendation 14: payment providers, advertisers and online platforms should treat legal businesses as legitimate and legal.

He just wants his dinner, mate.

Everyone tells you what it might be. Fleas, food, pollen, the washing powder, the season.

Almost nobody tells you what to do on Monday.

That gap is the whole reason this account exists.
