Lucy is a popular and highly sought after coach, we are fortunate to have her regularly visit the region. A great communicator with empathy (for both horse and rider) experience, and skill. The improvement in confidence, balance, suppleness and connection achieved throughout her lessons is outstanding. Lucy gives 100% to all riders, from learners, children or inexperienced to higher level riders, on young, old, green or educated horses. You could literally be on a blue and orange zebra and receive as much from Lucy a rider on a Grand Prix horse. Lucy has a passion for helping both horse and rider, and this really shines through in her clinics. From showing, dressage, jumping or trail riding - all welcome. How a horsewoman knows she is rich:

I am rich. I have $15 in my checking account and a golden mare in the barn.

I am rich. I have a car that mostly works and enough gas to get to the barn every day this week.

I am rich. I have boxes of pasta and generic sauce in my pantry and enough hay to feed my horse through the winter.

I am rich. I have enough old coats and sweaters to layer up and stay warm while I do barn chores.

I am rich. I vacation by camping with my horses and going to cheer on my horse riding friends at horse shows. Sometimes I even play too, and spend $1000 to bring home a fifty cent ribbon that I will treasure more than a photo in front of the Eiffel Tower.

I am rich. I have tools: duct tape and baling twine and the know how to fix just about anything with these tools.

I am rich. I find joy in making my own things, making do, and making right. I have a 20 year old saddle, a 35 year old body, and the wonder and joy of a 6 year old child learning that a horse can give her wings.

I am rich.

My wealth is not measured in dollar signs but in horsey snorts and nickers. My riches aren't spent on electronics and fancy clothes but are shared with my human and four footed friends.

Next time someone finds out that I have a horse and says, " You must be rich to afford that" I will smile, and agree.

Some rare places have opened up for the next Lucy Williams clinic on 3 & 4 August. Lucy William's clinics are usually booked out, with attending riders being offered places in future clinics. This is a great opportunity to get on the clinic list for further clinics.

Prices are:
One lesson - $80 (Bio/flat, poles, jump)
Bio Duo - $140 (2 Bio/flat over 1 or 2 days)
Combo (Bio and choice of jump or poles) - $125

This is a great read. Having been there a few times now, it really can be a challenge.

I almost gave up … physical problems aside, it was incredibly mentally challenging. Being scared of the what you love so much, and is part of your DNA, is both saddening and terrifying. A huge readjustment of goals and ambitions had to happen. Sometimes lowering the bar is a good thing, sometimes the only way forward. Ego has no place in this particular journey.

If giving up isn’t for you it’s step by step, take the time it takes and appreciate the progress as it comes along. Researching alternative techniques such as breathing, cognitive therapy etc helped me a lot. Be honest with yourself and those close to you about how you’re going. Your ‘real’ friends will be nothing but understanding, encouraging and supportive ... they are worth all the blue ribbons and trophies you could ever want.

The Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital will be holding an Equine Gastroscopy Day on Friday, June 21st AND Friday, June 28th! Gastroscopic examinations will be offered at a discounted price.

If you are concerned your horse may have ulcers, please call our friendly Client Services team on 08 8313 1999 (press 2) to book an appointment with our team of experienced vets.

Price is inclusive of sedation, gastroscopic examination, interpretation, report and a treatment plan if required.

📢 Equine Ulcer Facts 📢
Gastric ulcers can affect horses of all breeds and disciplines. It is estimated that up to 80-100% racehorses, 60 -70% sport horses and 35- 60% show and pleasure horses suffer from stomach ulcers. Gastroscopy is required to make an accurate diagnosis.
Clinical signs of ulcers are variable. Does your horse show any of the following, that may indicate they have ulcers?

• “Girthiness”
• Behavioural changes
• Weight loss / poor body condition
• Reduced appetite
• Dull coat
• Reluctance to work
• Poor performance
• Mild colic

Thanks everyone for another great weekend with Lucy. We really do have the best bunch of horses and riders! Love hearing the laughs and words of celebration and encouragement between riders. Makes such a fun and welcoming environment, no judging just riding! You guys are the best!!!

Thanks again to super coach Lucy Williams BHSI Equestrian. Once again the consistent improvement with horses and riders was so good to see. You are a star at figuring out what makes riders tick, fixing all the ‘things’, and giving solutions to our training road bumps.

Looking forward to seeing you all again in August 😊
