Depending upon the season, pasture and hay can be in short supply. Additionally, fibre sources can vary widely in their make-up. Bought in hay is only as good as the season’s cut and may be quite different bale to bale. By replacing a proportion with a standardised product of known quality, such as Fibre-Beet, a more even and stable fibre base can be achieved, helping to ensure your horse is getting the most out of the diet your feeding.

What do you recommend for a lactating mare?

Increased calories may be met with digestible fibre (Speedibeet or Fibre Beet), and up to 6kg of Barastoc Breed N Grow, or Barastoc Low GI Cube. How can I support a pregnant mare?

Protein and mineral requirements increase in late pregnancy, particularly copper and zinc. The growing foal stores these trace minerals during late gestation for bone and cartilage development after they are born.

Winter rugging tips
🐴Rug to your horses temperature not yours; just because we are cold doesn't mean they are.
🐴Invest in a quality warm but lightweight and waterproof rug, alternatively you can rewaterproof your existing rugs
🐴If you are using a cotton rug under your winter rug, ensure they are washed regularly to reduce rubbing
🐴The most reliable place to check your horses' temperature is behind their wither; the ears and legs are not a reliable indicator
🐴Horses are better to be slightly cool than too warm, as they can use methods to warm themselves, but they cannot easily cool themselves.
