He has also participated in an Anzac Day Parade, visited a Nursing Home, attended Kids Parties and has been used in some equine programs at a Disability Support Centre.”

“Despite all the crazy places I have taken Brady too, he is always very willing to get back in the horse float not knowing where he may get taken to next. Brady is my main Trick Riding lesson horse so he has come on many Clinic trips away to different towns in Queensland.”

🫶🏻 Bundaberg we need your HELP!

2024 RDAQ State Championships are just around the corner.

We are currently looking for donations of any show clothing to help support the RDA riders' who have been prepping for States.
Items include things like riding boots, riding jackets, show shirts, white/cream jodphurs, etc. In all sizes.

🐴 The Championships are designed to enable riders and non-riders, from RDAQ member centres, to showcase their horsemanship abilities in a competitive and supportive environment.

CELEBRATING HORSES’ BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday to all of our Bundaberg RDA Inc.’s Horses.

Did you know that all horses in the Southern Hemisphere celebrate their ‘birthday’ on the 1 August? Whilst they may not actually be born on this date, their birthday is standardised for comparison due to a historical lack of records of the actual birth date.

🌟Expression of Interest🌟

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

RDA Centres deliver valuable equine related programs to people of all ages with disabilities or additional support needs.

At Bundaberg RDA Inc. we are 100% volunteer run. Volunteers are the lifeblood of all that we do, and we always welcome new and past Volunteers.

Do you have a love for horses or are you curious to work with them?
You do not have to have experience with horses to assist at an RDA centre.

There are also many non-horse related duties and activities where you can play an important role. These include office work, centre and pasture maintenance, rider preparation, media and marketing, promotion and fund-raising…..

As a volunteer with RDA, you will be giving back to the community, you can gain valuable new skills, make new friends, there are ample opportunities for keeping fit (program volunteers do a lot of walking!)

Our family-like atmosphere means our volunteers benefit greatly from being part of our team as much as our riders do.

🐴 Group A’s last ride day for term 2!

Thank you to all our amazing Volunteers.

Timmy got to test our “NEW” Fairfax Racing Saddle, which our Bundaberg RDA Hooves and High Tea Fundraiser helped raise funds for, but we could not have achieved the final result without a generous donation on the day of over $500 🤯🥰 which made this dream a reality!

Bundaberg RDA Inc. Wishes to thank everyone who donated, sponsored, organised, spared their time and everything else that was involved to help celebrate our first fundraiser for 2024 (in case I missed someone 🫢🥰)

Bundaberg RDA Inc. Is excited to share some exciting news with you all - We now have our very own Defibrilator!

MODULATOR EXTREME
Waterproof Tough Modular First Aid & Trauma Kit.

With the support of Keith Pitt, Federal Member for Hinkler we were successful in an application for an Australian Government Volunteer Grant to purchase a defibrillator and first aid kit to be on standby for our riders and volunteers!

The community grants program is administered by Department of Community Services.

Troy from First Choice First Aid, helped us with the ordering and delivery of the AED First Aid Kit - Thank you Troy!

Bundaberg RDA Inc.’s Volunteers have obtained their First Aid training through Troy’s company.

The Modulator Extreme is an industry first kit that combines essential first aid items in 6 easily identifiable modules with a tourniquet and Israeli bandages packaged in a tough practical and easy to access case.
Plus the all important Samaritan Heartsine PAD350 Semi-Automated Defibrillator.

Early CPR and access to a defibrillator can significantly increase the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest. In fact, defibrillation within the first few minutes of having a sudden cardiac arrest increases the chance of survival to more than 70 percent.

“Pumpkin”

- Breed - Appaloosa
- Age - 16
- Height - approx 15hh
- S*x - gelding
- Likes - watermelon, carrots and liquorice
- Dislikes - not a huge fan of apples
- How long at RDA - his very first assessment day was 30 June 2021
- What he does outside of RDA - pleasure horse, relaxes lol

Pumpkin is a 17 year old Appaloosa, he’s always taken everything thrown at him with no worries. He has pretty much been a trail horse all his life.

Pumpkin has been a part of Bundaberg RDA’s family since 2021, we couldn’t imagine our ride days without him.

Pumpkin has been with Karley since he was 4 years old. He has helped heal her after she lost her first horse and had a bad fall off another horse.
He’s a very special part of her family, Karley’s children adore him and he takes very good care of them.

He seems to be a favourite among the younger boy riders at our RDA, but he also doesn’t play favourites. Very adaptable and a pleasure to be around, by both Volunteer’s and riders.

🐴 RDA Horse Spotlight 🔦

“MISSY”

Missy has been in in the Mulvena family for 15 years now and is coming onto 19 years old. Missy is Talitha ‘s pride and joy and she absolutely adores her. Missy is a pure breed quarter horse pony throughout Missy years.
She has done pony club and Trail riding, and she absolutely loves trail rides.
Missy has been a big part of Bundaberg RDA Inc. for about eight years now and she absolutely loves it. Missy has taken a lot of the high needs CP riders to help with their complex needs.
Missy attended the state championships last year for her first time and she took everything in her stride. She was so well-behaved and did a wonderful job. While we were at the state championships another RDA horse became unwell and couldn’t compete, so Missy had to step up and take more riders on a short notice and riders that had never even ridden her before. Missy and Layne did an exceptional job, and not only did they do amazing, but they also got first place champions in that category. Missy has helped so many riders along the years. Missy has had little riders gaining their confidence to high needs riders gaining more of their mobility.
I’ve absolutely loved owning Missy and watching her make a difference in so many peoples life - it’s been such a heartwarming experience.
RDA has given me more confidence in Missy and watching her do what she does. It’s an absolutely amazing privilege.

Unfortunately Bundaberg RDA Inc. have had to cancel our scheduled ride day today.

Due to council work being performed near the arena, a safety risk assessment deemed it too high for our riders to run.

Sorry for the short notice as we weren’t made aware of the work being carried out.

We used this unexpected opportunity to have our volunteer riders and coaches work together, to do some desensitisation and conditioning training with the horses.

We apologise for any inconvience, but these circumstances are out of our control.

🐴 Next Ride day is Wednesday 5th of June for Group B Riders.
