We're so lucky to work with such varied breeds throughout each week, and even luckier to get to know each dog as an individual with their unique desires, interests, inclinations, "strengths", and "weaknesses". We see both strengths and weaknesses as opportunities for development in a dog, and if we can help clients to see them this way, this often promotes understanding, minimises conflict, and creates more joy in the work of acheiving goals together with their dog.

🐶👃 We had a great time last weekend attending Hans Ebbers' (from - Germany) seminar on Scent Detection and Tracking, hosted by .com.au While the focus was scent, Hans dropped many golden nuggets of wisdom that apply broadly to dog training, and we loved that Hans highlighted one all-important feature in dog training - that it should be fun! Thanks to Brad and Hans for having us. 🙂

3 birthdays for us this month! Penny our little superstar is 6 today. ❣️ Scott turns 40 at the end of the month! 🎉
And Reservoir Dogs Training and Behaviour is 7 years old! 💃 Thank you so much to everyone who has been a part of our journey. We're lucky to do what we love.

🤩 I was so happy to be able to attend another 3 day workshop with the legendary Michael Ellis teaching on concepts and practical applications in advanced obedience and working with arousal in dogs. ❤️ Michael is extremely knowledgeable and also very generous in sharing his knowledge. Coming towards the end of our training with Odin the beautiful 7 month old German Shepherd as he and his family prepare to move to NZ. We will be sad to see him and hope he enjoys life in the country. ❣️

Loving working with Albie the Wirehaired Vizsla and his owner Adrian. They have competed in Rally Obedience and we are working together to improve performance and clarity in a number of areas including recall, heelwork and loose leash walking.

Our Story

Reservoir Dogs Melbourne is owned and operated by qualified dog trainer, Scott McConnachie. Scott holds a CERT III in Dog behaviour and training from the National Dog Trainers Federation and continues to regularly attend workshops and seminars with some of the best dog trainers in the world in order to stay up to date with best practices and keep building his knowledge base and skill set. We are based in Reservoir but offer in home dog training anywhere in Melbourne. Lessons are delivered in a highly informative and caring manner. Weekly group classes are available by invitation following private consultation and are an excellent way for people to continue their training while working with their dog around distractions. We are passionate about helping people reach their dog training goals with a focus on better relationships and motivated, happy dogs. We take on all breeds and are happy to work with you on everything from puppy development to serious aggression.
