Working on closed and open hand signals to elicit focus and watching (closed hand) and pushing in for reward (open hand) with Alana and Finn. Alana is doing a great job increasing engagement and clarity and decreasing frustration in training with her big beautiful Aussie Shepherd.
Ambrose cuddles as a sport 😂
When I first met him at the beginning of August he was quite nervous around me but it's fair to say some of the barriers have come down between us.
Ambrose is lucky to have an extremely dedicated owner who is committed to his ongoing welfare, training and development. @artfulambrose

Muzzle Introduction
Confession time = this is Penny's first ever training session with a muzzle.
That's a bit slack isn't it, considering I tell my clients they should be doing this. 😂Oh well, better now than never.
She does however have a few things under the belt that made this very likely to be a successful introduction.
My goal here is simply to have her feel good about putting her face in the muzzle. Considering this is the first time she's seen one that wasn't strapped to another dog's face, I think she took to it very well.
The start of the video shows a couple of behaviours that I've taught Penny which may have some impact on her readiness to engage so well with this kind of muzzle work. Chin rests, pushing through an opening of the hands, putting nose inside cone or garden pot are all great ideas for behaviours to teach your dog. 👌
Our clients 6 month old rescue kelpie Reya and owner Bea are getting into play together. 👌 This has been an important factor in helping Reya become more confident in novel environments. It's lovely when you see that both parties are finding enjoyment in the process. ❤️🐶
We're absolutely loving the new octopus toy from BEEFY.
Pro Dog Training
Liam and Dasha (Hungarian Viszla) - first ever session on the tub.
I thought to film this about 3 minutes in and prior Dasha had never even put her front feet up on a tub or done any type of rear end pivoting work.
There are some other pieces to this that were quite familiar for her but holy smokes Dash is a quick learner.
Liam has been working very very hard with her to build more joy and clarity in their training. Well done ❤️

BH practice with Penny. Here is this morning's run of the BH routine up until the first stop.
Points I like:
Tail is wagging
Quite clean overall
Points for improvement:
Counting your own steps sounds easy in theory but I was a bit all over the shop with that and got caught out.
I need to make a much clearer transition from the slow segment back to normal.
She's dipping back a bit on the fast section.
Thanks to my buddy @rhysandzig for filming and helping us to practice.

Penny
Here's our afternoon session today working on Penny holding her nose to my hand in different spots away from me.
Penny definitely likes to look at me so I'm creating more opportunities for her that have her working and looking away from me for reinforcement.
With this one there's potentially some follow on application for our heel work.
Watching this back I see a lot of fumbling on my end but Penny handles it nicely. To see her effort is a real heart warmer.
Penny middle
Penny and I went out to do a quick session on middle with a focus on head position.
My main criteria for her are seated position when stopped, head high and centred, and mouth closed.
Watching this back though, I'm reminded that Penny like many dogs is often scanning and scoping for very fine levels of detail when she is working. This also happens outside of the working scenario in a myriad of ways.
I think trying to grasp what a dog's perceptions might be is one of the joys of working with dogs and also brings up how great our responsibility to them in day to day life is.
The effort to make cues and criteria clear is well worth it.
